The Verdicchio di Matelica region is renowned for producing some of the most complex and age-worthy Verdicchios in Italy, and Casa Lucciola’s Riserva is a stellar example of the quality this area can achieve. The 2020 vintage was marked by a near-perfect growing season, resulting in a wine with incredible freshness, depth, and balance.
On the nose, this Verdicchio Riserva bursts with aromas of citrus blossom, green apple, and white peach, layered with notes of almond, wild herbs, and a touch of wet stone minerality. The palate is structured yet lively, ...
94 points Wine Advocate: "In 2020, the Garnacha Blanca suffered from frost, so the 2020 Blanco is unusual as it's 100% Viura from old vines intermixed in the vineyards with the reds. It's serious, austere and mineral, with a lively palate, vibrant with very good freshness and acidity (pH 3.1, without malolactic). It's has a little Burgundian accent, but it's clearly Riojan. 2,600 bottles were filled (LG)" (07/2022) 94 points Tim Atkin: "Volumes were reduced by hail in 2020, unfortunately, so there will be less to go around.

This wine used to be labeled as Honorío Rubio, but that is the only change that has been made! Bodegas 220 Cantaras is a white Rioja specialist. In a land best known for its incredibly age-worthy reds, among many die-hards out there it is undoubtedly the traditional whites that represent Rioja's finest and most original wines. These days, outside of Lopez de Heredia (whose whites are increasingly difficult to find) and the odd older bottles of Ygay Blanco, traditional white Rioja is tough to find. That's why we are so excited to be selling the wines of o...

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Coming all from very old Grenache Gris vines and brought up in larger oak, the 2020 Côtes Catalanes Asphodèle Blanc offers a straight-up rocking nose of pure white peach, caramelized nuts, white flowers, and brioche. Rich and medium-bodied, with good acidity, it shows just traces of its oak élevage on the nose yet brings just pure, clean fruit on the palate, as well as a terrific sense of chalky minerality. It's beautifully done, and I'd put this up with the finest whites coming from the Roussillon today. Bravo!" (05/2022) K&L N...

97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Tasted out of bottle and mostly from Bien Nacido (the 2021 is mostly Sanford & Benedict), the 2020 Held Head High White checks in as 80% Chardonnay, 12% Roussanne, and 8% Marsanne. It has a beautiful salty, mineral-driven style as well as ample stone fruits, medium to full body, a focused, chiseled, yet concentrated mouthfeel, and awesome length on the finish. It's a singular, layered, remarkably complete white... " (08/2023) 97 points Wine Advocate: "The Chardonnay-based Head Held High cuvée comes mostly from the Bien Nacido V...

91 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2020 The Derivative is fragrant with soft tropical notes of papaya, pink grapefruit, and honeysuckle flowers. The palate has gorgeous glycerin texture, with refreshing acidy and a long finish. Drink it over the next 5 or more years. (AF) " (08/2022)

98 points Wine Advocate: "The 2020 White Wine Distenta II could be a polarizing wine due to its unique style, intense aromatics and powerful structure, but I can't get enough of this blend of 32% Roussanne, 26% Viognier, 25% Chardonnay, 12% Gelber Muskateller and 5% Petit Manseng...It was matured around 23 months in 45% new French oak barrels, puncheons and demi-muids and was bottled in August of 2022. Drinking the White Distenta II is an omakase-like experience, an unexpected journey that begins with naturally bitter phenolics, blossoms into soaring per...

94 points Wine Advocate: "The new white 2020 Elástico was produced with a Macabeo field blend from an 80+-year-old, dry-farmed vineyard at 800 meters in altitude in conversion to organic in 2022. The juice fermented in concrete with indigenous yeasts after a 20-hour maceration with the skins and matured in underground concrete vats with the fine lees and no bâtonnage for 12 months. It has only 12.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.26 and 6.44 grams of acidity (measured in tartaric acid per liter of wine). This is really a field blend with many varieties—Palomino, Rob...

93 points Wine Spectator: "Elegant, with lush flavors of baked pear, honeycomb and chamomile riding a fine, raw silk texture enmeshed with sleek, lightly mouthwatering acidity. The rich profile is underscored by minerally petrol and saline notes, with pretty hints of ground ginger, anise, Meyer lemon peel and white blossoms playing on the lasting finish. Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Clairette Blanche, Viognier, Verdelho, Roussanne, Marsanne and Colombard. (AN)" (05/2023)

A totally unique wine. Made entirely from one row of vines planted by Charles Coury in 1966. The row was an experimental planting of many varietals including cuttings from Domaine Henri Gouges in Nuits-St-Georges. All vines are planted on their own roots and dry-farmed. Varietals in the blend are: Chardonnay (multiple clones) Flora, Pinot Noir, Melon de Bourgogne, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Sylvaner. The grapes are harvested on the same day, whole cluster pressed and co-fermented in neutral French oak with entirely native yeast.
