The Castelluci family farms 50 acres of pristine vineyards across Napa Valley, and their boutique wines are stunning. Made by winemaker Jac Cole, who's crafted standout Cabs at well-known estates like Spring Mountain Vineyards, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, and S. Anderson, this is a bold and powerful mountain Cabernet that is singing now after extra time in the cellar.

95 points Vinous: "The 2021 Lytton Springs is fabulous. Bright and vibrant to its core, the 2021 impresses with its poise. Readers will find a Lytton Springs that is very much in reserve, as opposed to the rest of the 2021s in this report, all of which are more approachable. Salivating acids and veins of tannin lend shape and persistence, but the 2021 needs time. Red cherry fruit, blood orange, rose petal and sage are some of the notes that linger on the close. A tiny 200 case production from a single block of Cabernet Sauvignon at Monte Rosso Vineyard. The block is planted to a heritage field selection "clone" of Cabernet Sauvignon thought to be unique to Monte Rosso, grafted onto 110R drought-resistent rootstock that is well suited to the intensly rocky, red volcanic soils. The wine is matured for 21 months in 50% new French oak.

Boutique winery Vinoce continues to impress. Little surprise when you consider their wines are made by much-heralded winemaker Keith Emerson of Vineyard 29! Emerson crafts some of the most highly sought-after cult Cabs in the valley from St. Helena fruit at Vineyard 29, including wines rated at 100-points by Robert Parker himself. Considering that pedigree, Vinoce's St. Helena Cab is very well priced at the regular $60 SRP, but at our Insider's Advantage price of over 50% off, it's just plain ridiculous.

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Coming all from the Funsten Ranch in the Dry Creek Valley and 100% Zinfandel, the 2021 Zinfandel East Bench has a rich, more subtle style in its aromatics, with ripe plum, cigar, spice, and earthy nuances, and it certainly plays in the darker, red and black-fruited end of the spectrum. These all carry over to the palate, where the wine is medium to full-bodied, has a deep, expansive, concentrated mouthfeel, velvety tannins, terrific mid-palate density, and a gorgeous finish. This richly textured, incredibly impressive Zinfandel ne...

95 points Vinous: "The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Papa's Knoll is fabulous. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, blood orange and spice lend exotic beauty to this mid-weight, striking Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium in body and supremely polished, the 2021 is an absolute delight. Time in the glass brings out the wine's compelling inner perfume and sensuality. (AG)" (12/2023)

91 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2014 Innovant Red Wine is beautiful, with a ripe, upfront, charming style that’s hard to not drink. Plums, black cherries, leady herbs and a kiss of graphite all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, textured effort that still holds onto the firm, age-worthy style present in all these releases. This beauty can safely be drunk anytime over the coming 10-12 years." (12/2017) 91 points Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Red Wine Innovent is a little closed at this youthful stage, reveali...

The Thibon family acquired the Libian property in 1670, and in 1970 Jean-Pierre Thibon decided to wholly focus on wine production. Since then the estate has grown to 25 hectares of vineyards and 8 hectares of "nourishing" land planted to olive trees, vegetable and flower gardens, and grains to support the organic and biodynamic viticulture. Mas de Libian began its biodynamic farming in 2005 and was shortly certified by Demeter afterwards. *Biodynamic*

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Tightly woven aromas of boysenberry, dark, loamy soil and forest wood come through on the nose of this bottling from a historic vineyard. There's a strong sense of crushed rocks on the palate, where ripe and rich flavors of dark berry, cherry compote and black spice are wrapped in firm tannins. (MK)" (09/2020) 91 points Burghound: "An exuberantly spicy nose features notes of Asian-style tea, sandalwood, rose petal and dark currant. The surprisingly supple and not particularly dense (though by no means dilute) flavors do tigh...

93 points Wine Spectator: "Lively, with mouthwatering blood orange, red currant and damson plum notes racing along, carried by pinpoint acidity that also accentuates a sanguine, savory edge through the finish. Light on its feet, but with nice tension throughout. (JM)" (11/2023) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Lighter in the glass with a beautiful shade of purplish red, this bottling from a historic property begins with earthy aromas of crushed oregano, chaparral scrub, wild berry and dust on the nose. Strong soil and rock flavors consume the palate as well...

93 points The Wine Independent: "The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is deep garnet-purple in color. Scents of blackcurrant jelly, Morello cherries, and black raspberry spring from the glass, leading to wafts of underbrush, pencil shavings, and bay leaves. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock full of expressive black berry and earthy layers, supported by grainy tannins and a lively line, finishing on a lingering mineral note. 97 points Wine Enthusiast: "Powerful yet superbly balanced, this wine achieves the iron fist in a velvet glove expression that makes it appealing in its youth yet bolsters it for more complexity and depth with time. While firmly tannic, the texture still feels elegant. Although deep in black currants, cloves and cedar, the flavors are fresh and appealing. Best from 2028–2040." (04/2024) 93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Violets, blue fruits, graphite, chocolate, and spice oak all emerge from the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Cult, a glass-staining, full-bodied red fro...

95 points Vinous: "The 2019 GSM Gabilan Mountains is a dense, powerful wine. Readers will have to cellar this for a year or two to allow the full breadth of its aromatics to emerge. Rose petals, sweet red berry fruit, blood orange and spice start to reveal themselves with some aeration. The 2019 was done with 100% stems and aged in a combination of concrete and neutral oak. In a word: fabulous. (AG)" 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A blend of mourvedre, grenache, and syrah, there’s a whole-cluster, carbonic note to this charming GSM, leading with scents of ...

92 points Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Heir Apparent Red Wine Cellar Selection features scents of cedar, loam and ripe cherries. Medium to full-bodied, this is nicely rounded and harmonious, with hints of mocha, a silky feel and a long finish." (12/2023) 91 points James Suckling: "A savory-fruit expression with rhubarb, tobacco and cedary undertones to the plums and dried orange peel. Quite juicy, crunchy and fluid, with a medium body that shows nice drinkability and refined tannins. Long, savory finish. Drink now." (09/2022) Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2019 Red B...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "There's an impressive amount of damp thyme and foggy sagebrush on the nose of this bottling alongside dark plum, leather and a hint of oak. 95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2019 Côtes Catalanes Grenache Rhapsody, which was first made in 2017, is winemaker Séverine Bourrier's take on 100% Grenache from the Roussillon (it's released under the Côtes Catalane IGP). I compared the 2017 to a top Châteauneuf du Pape, and unquestionably, that comparison holds with the 2019 as well. It offers a monster bouquet of kirsch liqueur, herbes de Provence, peppered meats, charcuterie, and dried flowers that carries to a full-bodied Grenache with an expansive, layered, seamless texture, silky tannins, no hard edge...

Here's another stupendous cask from our friends at Wathen's. If you don't already know, Wathen's (bottled by father and son team Charles & Sam Medley) is one of the country's most well respected non-distillery producers. We refer to them as non-distillery producer rather than non-distiller producer because of course Charles Medley is one of Kentucky's most well respected distillers. He had decades of experience running the old Owensboro plant, before moving toward contract production. That means he's got a special relationship with his contracted produce...

94 points Decanter: "This tiny estate is located in the area of Sesta - Montalcino’s wild southeastern reaches. Sesta di Sopra’s wines capture the scented Mediterranean vegetation and generous warmth – even in 2018. Violet, dark plum and cinnamon scents give way to exotic woodland herbs and even porcini nuances. One of the vintage's more sumptuous examples, it proposes ample plush fruit hemmed in by firm yet seductively textured tannins. An appetising minerality runs through it, and lingering succulence begs another sip. (MM)" (11/2022) 93 points James...

93 points James Suckling: "Aromas of mulberries, dried herbs, tar and baking spices on the nose following through to a full body with fine, firm tannins. Serious and precise with layers of spices and herbs mingling with the pure blue fruit. Vivid and well-made. Better from 2026." (09/2023) 92 points The Wine Independent: "Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District waltzes out with notions of spicy black plums, boysenberry preserves, and fruitcake giving way to hints of clove oil and tree bark. New Riff "K&L Exclusive Single Barrel #14585" Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey (750ml) (Previously $60)
Our first K&L Exclusive singel barrel of New Riff Rye is also one of their most unique. A small fraction of their barrels (Jay Erisman estimates about 1 in 10) showcases a gentle smoky profile. They aren't quite sure where it comes from, but it sure tastes delicious. We couldn't say no when we picked through a stellar lineup of barrels in Newport in May, 2023. This smoke show is a perfect 10.

The exceptional Tom's Foolery Distillery in Chagrin Falls, Ohio is easily one of the country's finest craft distillers. The tiny operation helmed by Tom and Lianne Herbruck and they specialize in using traditional methods to create innovative and exciting products. Using locally sourced grains and fruit the Herbruck's have now opened dedicated facility to the production of their excellent spirits, but when we met them, they were distilling on and old pot still in the shed behind their house. That special pot was purpose built for the Shaefferstown Distil...

The Tom's Foolery Distillery outside of Cleveland is easily one of the most exciting craft distillers in the States. Tom Herbruck is a true distiller, who fell in love with the craft as a kid distilling his fathers wine as a hobby. When he began to take it seriously he made the incredibly prescient move to acquire a historically significant set up from the old Michter's Distillery in the Schaefferstown, PA. For several years, Tom distilled a variety of single barrels of various mashbills and was able to make a name for himself releasing some of the first...

Since 2002 Domaine Séailles is officially certified as organic in all of their wine and Armagnac production. They've foresworn chemicals pesticides and artificial fertilizers and instead opt for a biodynamic approach. While the brandies that have been made this way are still quite young by many Armagnac standards, they are lively, bright, and delicious in their own right (not to mention showing tremendous aging potential). If you're looking for a punchy young Armagnac with crystal-clear fruit and excellent pedigree, combined with a stewardship of the env...

Maguey Melate specialises in small-batch mezcal sourced directly from the families that make them.

The amazing Cortes family should be considered mezcal royalty. Located outside the village of Mengoli de Morelos, the kind, young son Ageo learned from his father Felipe and began distilling at 17. Third and fourth generation mezcaleros, they cultivate many varietals in the rich Miahuatlan soils, where it seems every plant grows faster and bigger than elsewhere in Oaxaca. The rolling hills, cut through by streams and rivers, provide the perfect environment for agave to thrive.
