Since 1875, the Vigneau-Chevreau family has farmed the chalky soils of this 69-acre Vouvray domaine, planted entirely to Chenin Blanc. Jean-Michel Vigneau began steering the family domaine in an organic direction in the early ’90s and by 1999 Vigneau-Chevreau received its biodynamic certification from Ecocert. The most disciplined of organic cultures, tenets of biodynamics include the natural harnessing of universal forces, scheduling specific vineyard work according to the Maria Thun lunar calendar, and use of homeopathic preparations on both vines and ...

96 points Decanter: "Tender and restrained notes of fresh lemon zest, lemon pith and honey on the nose, but on the palate there is an opulent, seductive feeling. The long, precise finish is exquisite, but needs more time in bottle to develop, where it will certainly age well. A true grand vin with a potential for 98 points. The 12-hectare Clos de Mosny is a real clos – enclosed by a wall – in the commune of Saint-Martin-le-Beau in the southern part of Montlouis. It faces due south and it has a variety of soils – sand in the lower part, and clay and flint...

93 points Wine Spectator: "Seems opulent at first, though this shows nice restraint and impressive poise. A tightly coiled beam of apple, citrus peel and bitter almond skin are covered in a layer of sea salt and dried thyme, with floral highlights. Showing a lot of power and chalky mineral concentration, this will benefit from more time in bottle. 92 points Wine Spectator: "Broad and generous, with layers of pear, ginger and apple that unfurl in savory waves, flecked with incense and chamomile. Reveals a hint of salted caramel, but this stays clean and pure. The long finish is anchored by tangy acidity and minerality. (KB)" (08/2023) K&L Notes: Jacky Blot discovered wine as a junior pâtissier while working at a restaurant in Paris in his younger days. Deciding to follow the winemaking track in life, he ultimately came to acquire the Domaine la Taille aux Loups in Montlouis sur Loire, some twenty...

94 points John Gilman: "The 2022 Vouvray “le Haut Lieu” Sec from Domaine Huët is an absolute classic. The bouquet is pure, precise and beautifully discreet out of the blocks, offering up a complex blend of pear, quince, refined chalky soil tones, white flowers, incipient notes of beeswax and a whisper of the orange peel tones that will become more apparent with bottle age. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and classy, with a superb core of fruit, lovely soil inflection, zesty acids and superb length and grip on the still nascently co...

Established over 50 years ago, the 4th generation of the Denis family now runs this domaine. Julien is the winemaker, Stephane in charge of the viticulture, and Vincent oversees the administration and sales. Over the last few decades, the property has grown from 5 to 80 hectares that stretch across the appellation including some very select parcels in the Coteaux du Layon (home of one of the region's great dessert wines). The Anjou Blanc is grown on primarily schist soils and goes through its élevage in stainless and then some barrel aging. The introduc...

Catherine Dhoye-Deruet took over the family estate in 1990 from her father. The family has been growing Chenin Blanc wine in the area of Vouvray since 1712. With five hectares in production and one more to be planted, the grapes are harvested manually and crops are limited to about 35-40 hectoliters per hectare. Her cellars are carved into the limestone cliffs in the Vallée Coquette. The vineyard management here is minimalist, in that the pruning is extremely short, and the treatments only when absolutely necessary. The goal here is to create wines which...

Château d’Epiré is an 11-hectare estate. This bottling is sourced from 30- 55-year-old vines in schist soils. From importer Kermit Lynch: "Despite the beauty and timelessness of the building structures, it is the vineyard for which the domaine is best known. The Savennières from Epiré is regarded as Grand Cru. The domaine works primarily with three parcels: La Croix Picot, Le Parc, and Le Hu-Boyau. It is the latter that sits just above another famous vineyard, La Coulée de Serrant. The soils here are rich, and the microclimate is ideal. Southern and sout...

91 points John Gilman: "The 2020 Jasnières Sec from Sébastien Cornille is quite a bit riper than the 2021 version (fourteen percent versus 12.5 percent octane), which fully underscores how different these two growing seasons were in the eastern Loire Valley. The bouquet is deep, ripe and zesty, hopping from the glass in a mix of fresh pineapple, sweet quince, chalky soil, a hint of beeswax and a topnote of orange peel. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and plush at the core, with fine focus, a lovely gridle of acidity, good soil undertow and a ...

Thibaud Boudignon is a young, rising star winemaker in the Loire. He's currently the winemaker at Château Soucherie, where his integrating winemaking approach and shift towards 100% organic practices has resulted in great success. The winery allows him to produce a small amount of wine under his own label on the side. Importer Skurnik Wines says: "Thibaud Boudignon is unquestionably one of the most exciting figures in wine today. 94 points John Gilman: "Domaine Huët’s 2022 Le Mont Sec bottling also comes in at 13.5 percent alcohol this year, but like the Le Haut Lieu Sec, it is very pure, precise and classical in profile. The gorgeous young bouquet offers up a refined blend of apple, sweet quince, a hint of fresh pineapple, a gorgeous base of minerality, citrus peel, gently musky floral tones and a nice dollop of lime zest in the upper register. On the palate the wine is focused, full-bodied and bouncy, with superb depth at the core, lovely mineral undertow and grip, a fine spine...

95 points John Gilman: "The 2022 Clos du Bourg Sec bottling from Domaine Huët is also a superb young wine. The wine’s aromatic constellation is classy and already shows enormous potential, wafting from the glass in a mix of ripe quince, apple, a whisper of the yellow plum to come, complex chalky minerality, citrus peel, white lilies, citrus blossoms and a topnote of bee pollen. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and impressively deep at the core, with a fine girdle of acidity, excellent mineral drive and cut, lovely focus and balance and a lon...

When Jean Noel Millon took over winemaking and farming at his family's estate in 1998, he represented the seventh generation to do so. The 10-hectare farm is certified organic and Millon complements the soil with herbal teas and homemade composts to strengthen the vines' natural defenses.

91 points Wine Spectator: "Entices with warm apple, floral highlights and pastry notes, all grounded by a bedrock of flinty minerality and lashes of salty brine. Shows a lot of stuffing, though very angular and firm through the persistent finish, which is flecked with toasted brioche and driven by mouthwatering acidity. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2021 Domaine Huët "Clos du Bourg" Vouvray Sec (95VN, 93JG, 93JS, 92WS). Vinous: "The 2021 Clos du Bourg Sec is an ample, full bodied wine with a stream of acidity. Pure, floral and fragrant with aromas of pineapple, violets and fresh grapes. While rich, it is light in sensation, like a cloud of Chenin filling the mouth, and finishes with a fine, almost powdery and chalky texture. (RG)" (09/2022)

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2021 Domaine Huët "Le Mont" Vouvray Sec (96VN, 95JS, 95RP, 94WS, 92JG). Vinous: "This 2021 Le Mont Sec fills the mouth with pear, pineapple, nectarine and violet flavors. There's a sense of seduction and succulence through the middle of this wine. The flint and the coolness of the site seem to bring a sense of tension and purpose through this wine, which seduces you then spits you out. Delightful fragrance and a mouthwatering, racy finish. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2019 François Chidaine "Les Choisilles" Montlouis-sur-Loire (96RP, 91VN). Wine Advocate: "Chidaine's 2019 Montlouis sur Loire Les Choisilles is deep, pure, fresh and refined on the nose but still very young, with lemon leaf, chalk and sur lie aromas. On the palate, this is a rich and concentrated Chenin, but it reveals remarkable freshness and energy. It is a bit unfair to compare it to the 2018, which has a year more of development, but I have to, and I am still amused by the 2019, which lifts Les Choisilles to unknown heights. The salinity and mineral grip are really beautiful here in the finish, and I believe the wine can age for two decades. Highly attractive pineapple flavors on the aftertaste. Tasted in March 2021. (SR) " (08/2021)

91 points Vinous: "This young Clos de la Coulée de Serrant is soft, round and mouthfilling. The fruit quality of the 2020 is concentrated and succulent without weight, but there's a light farmyardy character to the wine. Offering excellent grip and a fiery schist-derived finish. The alcohol (14.5%) is lightly warming but compared with some previous vintages, it's a little better judged. (RG)" (06/2022) K&L Notes: One of the most well-known proponents of natural winemaking. Joel B. Payne for Vinous writes: "If any producer has reached mythical status on...

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2020 Domaine Huët "Le Mont" Vouvray Sec (96VN, 95RP, 94JG, 93WS). Vinous: "White flowers, pineapple and just-ripe pear combine in the 2020 Le Mont Sec from Huet, which offers just enough youthful puppy fat on the concentrated midpalate before finishing with mouthwatering acidity providing precision and line. It delivers intensity of fruit, yet it's light on its feet. Fine phenolics offer a delicate but self-assured sense of structure and poise. Delightfully balanced, and better a day after opening. (RG)" (03/2021)
Current Bid: $100.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2019 Domaine Huet "Clos du Bourg" Vouvray Sec (97RP, 95JG, 95VN, 94DC, 94WS). Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Vouvray Clos du Bourg Sec offers a deep, rich yet pure and refined, intensely aromatic, darker-toned nose with aromas of fully ripe stone and tropical fruit intertwined with earthy, chalky and yeasty notes that make up for further finesse and complexity. Full-bodied, round and fruity on the palate, this is a deep, intense, juicy, silky-textured yet tight, chalky, very complex, sustainably structured and persistently salty-mineral Chenin from old vines that give extra concentration as well as a spectacularly expressive character. This is a great, age-worthy Vouvray with fine tannins and lingering salty tension and finesse. What a finish! The 2019 needs a while to gain finesse and even more complexity... The 2019 is a duty for all Chenin aficionados! (SR)" (07/2020)
Current Bid: $92.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2019 Domaine Huët "Le Haut-Lieu" Vouvray Sec (95JG, 95RP, 93WS, 92DC, 92VN). Wine Advocate: "The deep brown clay soils of the Haut-Lieu plateau provide the typical fruitiness and freshness wonderfully in Huet's 2019 Vouvray Le Haut-Lieu Sec. Ripe pear, tangerine and orange fruits with notes of lemon grass and green pimientos intertwined with very fine chalky and later tobacco notes give a remarkably fine, elegant and harmonious, subtly complex and simply gorgeous bouquet with floral (lime blossom!) and yeasty aromas that are immediately attractive. Delicate and linear on the palate, this is a pure, fresh, bone-dry, lean and textured, highly refined and perfectly interwoven Chenin with persistent purity, finesse, salty-mineral tension and very fine tannins. Highly finessed and so pure and vivacious! This is a chalky picture-book Haut-Lieu that can age for many years, even though it is already dangerously seductive! (SR)" (07/2020)

Bid on this 3-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 2009 Domaine Huet "Brut Reserve" Vouvray Pétillant (93JG, 93RP, 93VN), 1-bottle of 2015 Domaine Huët "Le Haut-Lieu" Vouvray Sec (93RP, 93WS, 91JG), and 1-bottle of 2019 Domaine Huet "Le Mont" Vouvray Sec (95JG, 94RP, 94VN, 94WS). Of the 2019 Domaine Huet "Le Mont" Vouvray Sec, John Gilman writes: "The beautifully refined and still quite youthful nose jumps from the glass in a blend of quince, green apple, beeswax, a kaleidoscopic bath of limestone minerality, a touch of orange peel, lanolin and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and utterly seamless, with again, stunning mid-palate depth and mineral drive, brisk acids and a very long, nascently complex and laser-like finish. This makes the youthfully reserved Le Haut Lieu Sec seem like a flamboyant and wide open wine, this is so buttoned up right now behind its perfect structural chassis. 95+" (05/2020)
