92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This Bourgueil is like a slow kiss at the end of a Friday night. The wine has a nose of blackberry, sweet baking spices, strawberry, red raspberry and rosehip. A concentrated midpalate rewards your senses and encourages you to lean in further into a wine that finishes with a soothing finish. *Best Buy* (RS)" (04/2024) K&L Notes: A rich ruby red with notes of violets and red berry fruits, this Cabernet Franc is nicely layered on the palate with brightness running throughout and just a touch of smoke mixed in with some purple ...

Joël Taluau is a fabulous grower in St-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, known for making some of the purest expressions of Cabernet Franc in the Loire. All his hand-harvested cuvées are based on vine age and soil composition, and the wines are fermented and aged in stainless steel with a light fining and no filtration before bottling.

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This Sancerre wants you to know there are other regions in France producing Pinot Noir that deserve your attention. Rich, bruised black cherry opens on the nose along with black raspberry, hibiscus and dried cranberry. Assertive black fruit is more subdued on the palate while offering complexity and depth that leads into a finish that never seems to end. *Editor's Choice* (RS)" (12/2024) K&L Notes: The wines of Aurore Dezat are a regular feature in our wine club offerings, and her vibrant Sancerre is an easy favorite among K...

94 points John Gilman: "The 2022 vintage of les Grézeaux from the Baudry family is a great bottle in the making. This is nicely measured in ripeness for such a warm summer, coming in at an even thirteen percent, but no doubt, the fifty-plus year-old vines here navigate extremes during the summer far better than younger vines. The wine’s bouquet is deep, complex and very refined, wafting from the glass in a mix of sweet cassis, black cherries, cigar wrapper, gravelly soil tones, tree bark, espresso and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, ful...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: " This wine straddles the fence between wanting you to like it and wanting to challenge you. Cherry cola surfaces on the nose along with strawberry cream, blueberry blossom and hibiscus. Grippy, drying tannins chime in on the palate buttressed by a smattering of chalk dust and lemon citrus peel. Pair with burgers, lamb chops or eggplant Parmesan. (RS)" (12/2024) K&L Notes: Domaine Côtes Blanches was established in the 1930s by Bernard and Pierre Millet. In 1980, it was time for the second generation to take the reins, so Fran...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine has an aromatic nose of black plum, vanilla baking spice, dried white blossom and a touch of hay. Round on the palate, red raspberry escapes a layer of black fruit towards the end of the taste and revels in its victory on the finish that begs for another sip. (RS)" (12/2024) K&L Notes: The wines of Aurore Dezat are a regular feature in our wine club offerings, and her vibrant Sancerre is an easy favorite among K&L staff as well. Aurore makes wine on her family estate in Sury-en-Vaux, which was established by her gr...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine has a nose of black raspberry, pencil shavings, violet blossom, pomegranate and hibiscus. Your lips will pucker into a smile, not because of the acidity but because of the balance between the acidity and tannic structure that pulls you in, while in perfect balance with the faintest herbal undertones that push the wine into the heavenly zone. *Best Buy8 (RS)" (04/2024) K&L Notes: A rich ruby red with notes of violets and red berry fruits, this Cabernet Franc is nicely layered on the palate with brightness running th...

Jacky Blot discovered wine as a junior pâtissier while working at a restaurant in Paris in his younger days. Eventually deciding to follow the winemaking track in life, he ultimately came to acquire the Domaine la Taille aux Loups in Montlouis-sur-Loire, some twenty years ago, and eventually added the Domaine de la Butte in Bourgueil to his portfolio. The two appellations both reside along the Loire and perhaps do not have the same notoriety as their kissing cousins, Vouvray and Chinon. But what Jacky does is extremely special and his wines rival the qua...

90 points Vinous: "From a clay-limestone site, the 2021 La Marginale is simply delicious. It is a quiet seducer with it silky charm, while remaining floaty and light on its feet. There's plenty of tannin contained within the core of this wine, coating the mouth finely. The long, fragrant finish is redolent of redcurrant, raspberry, violet and pencil lead. The 2021 is fresh and vibrant yet delicate. (RG) " (12/2023) K&L Notes: *Biodynamic*

92 points Vinous: "The 2021 Charlouise is a delicate style that flows easily across the palate. While the Pinards usually utilize whole bunch fermentation, the stems weren't ripe enough in 2021. The vintage's lightness meant that the time in barrel was also reduced. As a result, it's fresh and fruity with bright red cherry and damson fruit flavors, but there's no doubting there's density of concentration on the core. The finish is chalky and appealing. The 1006 in the winery's name refers to the length of the Loire, the longest river in France. Vigneron Pauline Lair works with various growers along the banks of the Loire to create her low intervention wines. The Majorelle is her 100% Grolleau Noir from vines over 60 years of age in the Anjou region. This grape is the third most planted red in the Loire after Cabernet Franc and Gamay. Known for producing medium bodied reds, it was used mostly for blending and rose production. Only recently has Grolleau become the darling grape of newer generations ...

90 points Vinous: "The fruit for the 2020 Les Varennes du Grand Clos comes from a site where the top of the slope is mainly clay and limestone while the bottom tends to be sandier. The result is a focused style with attractive, precise aromatics—think violet and both black and red cherry. Cool fermentation temperatures preserve and highlight its aromatic lift. Racy, fresh and bright, tannins provide structural framework, giving this wine drive and frame. (RG) " (12/2023)

90 points Vinous: "The 2022 Sancerre Rouge is a gently styled, savory Pinot Noir with creamy red fruit and spice. It's light to medium-bodied with a richness of fruit on the mid-palate and succulent tannins. The 2022 is satisfying even at this early stage. (RG)" (07/2024) K&L Notes: The Vacheron vineyards are all close to the village of Sancerre itself and have been in the family for 9 generations. Today, this domaine is run by two cousins, the Messieurs Vacheron. Both have sons studying viticulture to carry on the family tradition. The vineyards cover...

91 points James Suckling: " Juicy and playful with notes of dark cherries, stones and dried leaves. Medium-bodied with fine yet firm tannins and fresh acidity.
