Domaine Cherrier was founded in 1930. Since then four generations of the family have run the estate. The domaine has limestone and calcareous clay soils that wonderfully influence the character of the grapes grown there. The Sancerre is consistently delicious, with citrus, chalky minerality and light floral notes. Its dry finish complements seafood and cheese beautifully. K&L French Regional buyer Keith Mabry says: "The Cherrier to me is always one of the biggest crowd-pleasing Sancerres/Sauvignon Blancs from anywhere in the world."

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Grown in 70% limestone and 30% clay soils, this Sancerre boasts depth and complexity. The wine opens with a perfumed nose of Bosc pear, freshly peeled golden apple, nectarine skin and orange blossom. The palate is layered with additional flavors of marmalade and slivered almonds. (RS)" (12/2024) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Hints of tropical richness and honey course alongside notes of apple, melon and subtle spices in this broad, intriguing white. An element of singed orange peel adds to the depth, while radish spice brings c...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This Bourgueil is like a slow kiss at the end of a Friday night. The wine has a nose of blackberry, sweet baking spices, strawberry, red raspberry and rosehip. A concentrated midpalate rewards your senses and encourages you to lean in further into a wine that finishes with a soothing finish. *Best Buy* (RS)" (04/2024) K&L Notes: A rich ruby red with notes of violets and red berry fruits, this Cabernet Franc is nicely layered on the palate with brightness running throughout and just a touch of smoke mixed in with some purple ...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine has a nose of black raspberry, pencil shavings, violet blossom, pomegranate and hibiscus. Your lips will pucker into a smile, not because of the acidity but because of the balance between the acidity and tannic structure that pulls you in, while in perfect balance with the faintest herbal undertones that push the wine into the heavenly zone. 91 points James Suckling: "A well-rounded, seductive and refreshing Muscadet with aromas of lime, chalk and mild spices. Medium body with fresh acidity. A deliciously silky white with crispiness and comforting volume giving nice balance to the salivating finish. " (05/2024) K&L Notes: Composed of Melon de Bourgogne, this wine was made to pair with sushi, shellfish, or roasted chicken. Moules Frites is a classic pairing!

97 points James Suckling: "With almost pungent minerality and gigantic concentration, this awesome Savennieres shows how great dry whites from the chenin blanc grape can be. On paper this must have plenty of acidity, but it’s so beautifully integrated that you don’t think about it. With some aeration this develops a wonderful nose of honeysuckle. Extremely long wet-stone finish. From organically grown grapes. " (02/2023) K&L Notes: Domaine Fournier Longchamps (aka FL) is a family estate in Rochefort sur Loire, covering 43 hectares across Anjou, Savenni...

This is a dynamite Sauvignon Blanc from a 5th-generation family-owned estate. Named for the region's famed silex soils, this bottling is lean and structured with wonderful notes of citrus, crystalline minerality, and lively acidity.
One of K&L's very finest buys from France, this is a reserve cuvée, made from Millet's chalkiest limestone soils. There is a long maceration at very low temperatures to extract as much flavor and character as possible. The resulting wine is intensely charged with stone fruit and minerality, and bright citrus notes. The wines of this family domaine have been a staple here at K&L since the 1994 vintage when Franck and Betty Millet drove a long way (to Beaune!) on Easter Sunday to meet Clyde and crew to present the wines. We love these wines for their fresh...

90 points Vinous: "The 2023 Pouilly-Fumé offers finesse, purity and freshness. It's a light-bodied, restrained and pretty wine with delicate, fresh flavors. It will leave you wanting more. The 2023 was delicately handled, and that's reflected in the wine. (RG)" (07/2024) Jancis Robinson: "Complex wild-flowers nose. Great grip and texture on the palate. Lots of character. (JR)" (04/2024) K&L Notes: Nestled in the village of Verdigny, Domaine Tabordet was run by brothers Yvon and Pascal Tabordet, who took the reins back in 1981. Yvon's son Marius and P...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a confident wine that knows its value-and you should too. Joyful aromas of red raspberry, pencil shavings, dried herbs, rhubarb and fresh strawberries jump out on the nose of the wine. On the palate, black tea and rosehip dance with dried violet blossom and dried hay. (RS)" (04/2024)

Domaine Cherrier was founded in 1930, and since then four generations of the family have run the estate. Brothers François and Jean-Marie work sustainably in all their vineyards. In 2010, they acquired 10 hectares of vines in the nearby region of Menetou-Salon. The estate has limestone and calcareous clay soils that wonderfully influence the character of the grapes grown there. K&L French Regional buyer Keith Mabry says: "For those seeking Sancerre quality but at a more competitive price, look no further than Menetou-Salon. The Cherrier brothers deli...

The wines of this family domaine have been a staple here at K&L since the 1994 vintage when Franck and Betty Millet drove from Sancerre to Bordeaux (a long way) to meet Clyde and crew to present their wines. The wines were great even in that tough vintage, and the rest is history. We love these wines for their freshness, charm and affordability. They consistently make our best value Sancerre in the store, and their Menetou-Salon from just down the road bears all the hallmarks that made us fall in love with this domaine 25 years ago.

90 points Wine Enthusiast: " This wine straddles the fence between wanting you to like it and wanting to challenge you. Cherry cola surfaces on the nose along with strawberry cream, blueberry blossom and hibiscus. Grippy, drying tannins chime in on the palate buttressed by a smattering of chalk dust and lemon citrus peel. Pair with burgers, lamb chops or eggplant Parmesan. 91 points Vinous: "The 2022 L'Autre Rive has an aroma akin to two pieces of flint knocked together, along with citrus and boxwood. The flint gives line and length. The 2022 offers tension and drive despite the warmth of the season. (RG) " (05/2024) K&L Notes: Nestled in the village of Verdigny, Domaine Tabordet was run by brothers Yvon and Pascal Tabordet, who took the reins back in 1981. The Bedouet family's history in the region dates back to the 1890s, when the estate was created by Henri Bedouet. His grandson, Michel, took possession and expanded the holdings when he assumed the reins in 1990. In 2010, he began the conversion to organic farming. The vines for the Clos des Grands Primos are planted on a mix of gneiss, mica, and schist soils creating the classic flavor profile of Muscadet. Notes of grapefruit, salted apples, melon, and flint expand on the nose and crisp acidity on the palate makes for one of our best Muscadets in the st...

In 1995, Guillaume Reynouard purchased his first 4 hectares of cabernet franc alongside an old mansion in need of repair in the village of Le Puy Notre Dame. He began the restoration of the property and converted the vineyards to organic farming. Receiving Ecocert certification in 1998, the next hurdle was biodynamics. By 2010, the estate received biodynamic certification through Biodyvin.
Like Sancerre but half the price! The Fournier family, with roots as deep as their vines in this region, seem to be related to just about everyone in some way. They've been farming and producing wines in Sancerre for generations. We are pleased to have been offered this wine, yet again, at such a great price. Soft, subtle mineral notes are wrapped up in aromatics of melon and citrus. Clean, bright and refreshing, this is a perfect little Sauvignon Blanc. Tropical fruit, citrus and spice aromas and flavors, with vibrant acidity and minerality. Perfect for...

92 points John Gilman: "The Muscadet "Le Fils des Gras Moutons" from Claude and Sébastien Branger is made from their younger vines in this Cru vineyard, with the vines that go into this bottling being thirty-five years of age or less. The 2022 "Le Fils des Gras Moutons" offers up a deep and lovely bouquet of breadfruit, apple, stony soil tones, dried flowers, a nice touch of sweet leesiness and a briny topnote redolent of the sea. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, focused and complex, with a lovely core of fruit, fine mineral undertow and grip, soun...

90 points Vinous: "The 2023 Sancerre Blanc is a very well-made example. From a tricky vintage with high yields, this impresses with its tenderness, balance and elegance. Biodynamic farming and hand harvesting, among other careful handling techniques, can be sensed in the wine's delicate texture. Aromatically, it's pretty with elderflower, ripe lemon and red apple. If you're going to buy Sancerre from 2023, you won't go wrong here. It is one of the best releases of the vintage to date. (RG)" (05/2024)

91 points Decanter: "A sense of minerality with gunflint on the nose, almost a tertiary character, giving the impression of a cooler vintage. The palate is quite backward, and the fruit purity has not really come out to the extent of the 2018, so this is much less revealing. (BL)" (06/2022) 90 points Vinous: "The 2017 Le Clos is a blend of 15 sites across five hectares. It is a richly fragrant, brooding style, with lots of complex layers. Light on its feet, its compact core is rich with texture, and its flavors linger long. There's a meaty edge, olives...

94 points John Gilman: "The 2022 vintage of les Grézeaux from the Baudry family is a great bottle in the making. This is nicely measured in ripeness for such a warm summer, coming in at an even thirteen percent, but no doubt, the fifty-plus year-old vines here navigate extremes during the summer far better than younger vines. The wine’s bouquet is deep, complex and very refined, wafting from the glass in a mix of sweet cassis, black cherries, cigar wrapper, gravelly soil tones, tree bark, espresso and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, ful...

94 points Decanter: "This classy wine from the leading Bourgueil estate is dense, bright and glossy in the glass. The nose is intensely violet-scented, with smouldering toasty oak in the background. This is a young, tight wine at present, but the excellent fruit concentration tells you this wine has much to give. The palate is already silky, with lovely freshness and balance. The fruit is spicy and blackcurranty, with a dark, bitter chocolate finish. there is delicious ripeness here, and at only 13% nothing is overdone. It's delicious now, but it would b...

91 points Vinous: "The XXI is the total sum of the 2021 vintage due to frost but mainly rot caused by too much rain at the end of the season. According to its maker, the domain lost around 60% of the crop. This is definitely a Sauvignon Blanc with its green capsicum and mint flavors; often, the varietal character is less overt in the Daguneau styles. It's light in body with silken flesh built through the mid-palate. The 2021 offers some nice texture and lees-derived pastry characters. 90 points Vinous: "From a clay-limestone site, the 2021 La Marginale is simply delicious. It is a quiet seducer with it silky charm, while remaining floaty and light on its feet. There's plenty of tannin contained within the core of this wine, coating the mouth finely. The long, fragrant finish is redolent of redcurrant, raspberry, violet and pencil lead. The 2021 is fresh and vibrant yet delicate. (RG) " (12/2023) K&L Notes: *Biodynamic*

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine has an aromatic nose of black plum, vanilla baking spice, dried white blossom and a touch of hay. Round on the palate, red raspberry escapes a layer of black fruit towards the end of the taste and revels in its victory on the finish that begs for another sip. (RS)" (12/2024) K&L Notes: The wines of Aurore Dezat are a regular feature in our wine club offerings, and her vibrant Sancerre is an easy favorite among K&L staff as well. 94 points Vinous: "The 2022 Montlouis-sur-Loire Clos de Mosny Monopole is a clay-flint-based parcel, and you can see that in its focus and line. There's flinty, smoky, salty reduction going on here, but it's well-judged and lends an extra layer of complexity, as well as providing additional tension. Excellent precision defines the mid-palate, but there's still a generosity and softness that lends charm with structure. Long and classy, it’s amazing that such a warm vintage can provide such togetherness and balance. (RG)" (05/2024) K&L Notes: Jacky Blot ...

Jacky Blot discovered wine as a junior pâtissier while working at a restaurant in Paris in his younger days. Eventually deciding to follow the winemaking track in life, he ultimately came to acquire the Domaine la Taille aux Loups in Montlouis-sur-Loire, some twenty years ago, and eventually added the Domaine de la Butte in Bourgueil to his portfolio. The two appellations both reside along the Loire and perhaps do not have the same notoriety as their kissing cousins, Vouvray and Chinon. But what Jacky does is extremely special and his wines rival the qua...

Importer's Notes: Domaine Tessier was founded in 1961 by Roger Tessier, with his son Philippe taking the reins 20 years later in 1981. They are located in the heart of the Cheverny and Cour-Cheverny AOC’s and currently have 23 ha of vines. The vineyard exists in a microclimate that keeps the vineyards cool, situated between the Loire River and the forest of Cheverny, Chambord and Solonge and has been Ecocert certified since 1998. Philippe believes that a wine should be the expression of the place from which it comes and should reflect the climatic condi...

91 points Vinous: "The 2022 Montlouis-sur-Loire Clos Michet is a seductive, charming style with a silken texture initially—you can't help but be sucked in by it. And yet, it has surprising freshness and line with just 12.5% alcohol, tying it all together as it moves through the palate. Salty and floral notes join pastry and subtle smoky bacon, while oak tones linger on the finish. This is smart, pure and well-made.
