2020 Kalinda Sonoma County Chardonnay
Top Pick!
This wine comes from one of the more renowned Chardonnay producers in Sonoma County. Really! But, we offer this beauty at a price much lower than what you’d pay at the winery, as for decades now, our Kalinda private label has been providing K&L customers with awesome wines at a fraction of what they'd normally pay under the producers' mainstay labels. Naturally, no producer wants their wines on the market for less than what they'd usually sell for, so the trade-off is anonymity.

2020 Massican "Annia" Napa Valley White Blend
Top Pick!
96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Dan Petroski’s perennially delightful blend of 61% Tocai Friulano, 27% Ribolla Gialla and 12% Chardonnay from the Hyde Vineyard stands out in its melding of floral, grippy composure and earthy intensity. Lemon candy, peach and white flower combine around ethereal accents of salt and slate. *Editors' Choice* (VB)" (09/2021) 92 points Wine Spectator: "This white offers a mouthwatering, vibrant and distinctive mix of beeswax, dried mango, pineapple, fennel pollen, white grapefruit and green apple flavors, lingering effortle...

2020 Rombauer Carneros Chardonnay
Top Pick!
The cool Carneros region, where San Pablo Bay meets both Napa and Sonoma valleys, provides beautiful, fresh acidity and the key sense of balance for this fan-favorite Chardonnay. Rombauer has been producing Carneros-specific Chardonnay since 1990.

2020 Duckhorn Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc
Top Pick!
Duckhorn, which ushered in the popularity of Merlot with its classic bottling--Three Palms--has also been recognized for crafting beautiful Sauvignon Blanc wines over the years, and this one is no exception.

A very different wine than most in the Turley line up. The Bechtold Vineyard Cinsault is crunchy, fresh, low alcohol and higher acidity. It comes from extremely old vines, believed to be the oldest Cinsault on the planet. One of my personal favorite summer wines year after year. (Ryan Woodhouse - K&L Domestic Wine Buyer) Winemaker's notes: "Planted in 1886, this Cinsault vineyard is the oldest of its kind in the country - perhaps even beyond. The vines are gnarly, head-trained and planted on their own roots. The wine is light-bodied, tart, perfumed, and...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A lovely shade of light pink, this bottling begins with aromatic waves of white and pink flowers, as well as daffodil, plus poached strawberry and melon. Ripe flavors of peach and strawberry show on the sip, which is pleasantly soft in texture. (MK)" (07/2021)

96 points Vinous: "The 2020 Chardonnay (Santa Barbara County) is outrageously beautiful. In fact, it is one of the very finest wines I have ever tasted from Greg Brewer. Rich and textured in the glass, with plenty of bright acids, the 2020 is wonderfully alive. Greg Brewer has done a tremendous job in crafting a Chardonnay that is both texturally deep and intense. In 2020, facing a lack of visibility in the market because of COVID-19, Brewer-Clifton bottled just a fraction of their appellation Chardonnay, freeing up a number of top sites that Greg Brewer...

91 points Wine Enthusiast: " From 31-year-old vines, this bubbly is all kinds of wild, starting with a very cloudy appearance then leading into aromas of grapefruit soda, apple sauce and banana. That unique combination shows strongly on the palate as well, where tropical hints of mango and makrut lime add to the attention-grabbing format. (MK)" (03/2021)

Antonio Galloni writes: "Graham Tatomer crafts wines of real character and personality. The core of the range is composed of a number of Grüner Veltliners and Rieslings from top sites in Edna Valley and Santa Barbara. More recently, Tatomer has expanded his range to include Pinot Noirs, the best of which are compelling. The wines are done in a style that emphasizes freshness, detail and energy."

I first "discovered" the wines of Pennrose at the Shades of Shake Ridge event a few years back and have been a huge fan ever since. Husband and wife team Mike and Ria both have other "day jobs" in the wine business, Mike as winemaker at the inimitable Green & Red in Chiles Valley high above Napa. And Ria at McEvoy Ranch in the hills just outside of Petaluma. The Pennrose wines have wonderful purity and elegance. Never high in alcohol of extraction, these are vibrant food friendly wines with clarity and sense of place. I highly recommend checking them out...

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Clean lines of bubblegum, strawberry and banana blossom show on the nose of this rosé, which includes 62% Grenache, 12% Mourvèdre, 11% Cinsault, 9% Carignan and 6% Rolle (or Vermentino). Those fruit elements coalesce on the palate, which is crisp and chalky though full of flavor. (MK) " (08/2021) 90 points Vinous: "Lively strawberry, honeydew and tangerine scents, joined by floral and spice nuances that build in the glass. Silky and energetic on the palate, offering fresh red berry and citrus fruit flavors underscored by a d...

94 points Vinous: "The 2020 Uni, Stolpman's Roussanne/Chardonnay blend is absolutely gorgeous. Apricot, tangerine oil and white flowers lend notable complexity to this luscious, bold white. Drink it now or over the next handful of years. (AG)" K&L Notes: A unique but satifying blend of Roussanne (70%) and Chardonnay (30%) from Stolpman's Ballard Canyon estate. Fermented with native yeats and rested in neutral oak 500L Puncheons.

Turley Wine Cellars makes dozens of wines, the vast majority of which are single vineyard designate Zinfandels and Petite Syrahs. By focusing on old vine vineyards in particular, Turley aims to both create and preserve California’s unique winemaking culture. All of the vineyards are either certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers or somewhere in the process, and they use all natural yeasts in the fermentations. Their Sauvignon Blanc has not been a constant in the portfolio, but the last few vintages have seen a repeat performance since a...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Fresh aromas of pink grapefruit, light rose and soft strawberry start the nose on this bottling. There is a firm tension to the sip, where a citrus-driven experience jumps from grapefruit rind into light plum flavors. (MK)" (11/2021) K&L Notes: Made from 100% sustainably farmed vineyard in the cool-climate Edna Valley AVA, this wine exudes the ocean influence that so defines these vineyards and this growing region. The calcareous soils of uplifted marine sediment help to accentuate the wine's bracing and refreshing profi...

Though relative newcomers to the California wine scene, the Haarmeyers seem like they’ve been at it for much longer. Their Chenin Blancs, sourced from organically grown vineyards around the Sacramento area, have caught the attention of wine critics and customers alike. Chenin, the legend of the Loire, is deftly translated here as they capture the peach and spice flavors that typify the wine. I love the intensity, length and persistence of their 2020 Haarmeyer “St. Rey SVR” Clarksburg Chenin Blanc. This is certainly a winery to watch and to further explor...

Grapes for this wine are estate grown in the Arroyo Seco appellation of Monterey County. According to the winery, the Arroyo Seco AVA is located below the Santa Lucia Highlands on a gravelly alluvial plain with rocky soils fostering excellent drainage. Winery tasting notes: "Pale salmon in color, this dry Rosé offers delicate aromas of cherry, raspberry and watermelon and notes of fresh floral rose. The palate brings vibrant acidity, flavors of raspberry and watermelon with undertones of minerality that lead to a pleasant dry finish."

All pét-nats are not created equal. Some are, in fact, decidedly less than equal. However, Birichino makes some of the most consistently delicious in the market. Few brands occupy as many spots on our shelves (or website) as Birichino. The reasons for this are numerous. Firstly, the wines are absolutely delicious. Secondly, few producers have such a dazzling assortment of varietals and styles, each one worthy of a placement. Third, the prices are very modest given the quality of the wines, growing critical acclaim, and remarkable vineyard sources. Last ...

92 points Wine Spectator: "Mouthwatering and aromatic, with lime blossom, ruby grapefruit, passion fruit and Meyer lemon notes. There’s a touch of saline for a savory edge, along with a distinctive body that’s sleek, smooth and juicy." 91 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2020 Sauvignon Blanc is another winner from this talented winemaker. Lots of peach and pineapple fruit as well as minty herbs and a kiss of minerality define the nose, and it's medium-bodied, with a supple, elegant mouthfeel, and a great finish. It's going to be a smoking good house white and i...

Winery notes: We speculate the vines were planted around 1914. The Vineyard is planted on a gentle slope in classic Alexander Valley heavily cobbled, aluvial soils. The vines are naturally low yielding, but produce big, bunches of bountiful fruit. This early release of our first Sceales Vineyard Old Vine Grenache is made to highlight and showcase the stunning, vibrant fruit from this amazing vineyard. 100% Grenache. 50% carbonic maceration. Brillant electric ruby-purple color with intense aromas of ripe red cherry, wild raspberry, pomegranate, crunchy c...

Brothers John and Steve Dragonette and close friend Brandon Sparks-Gillis founded Dragonette Cellars in 2005 after having worked together at a wine shop in Los Angeles. The 2020 rosé was fermented in a combination of roughly one third each stainless steel, neutral barrels of various sizes (228L, 400L, 500L) and concrete. After complete dryness the wine was transferred to neutral oak barrels and aged for 5 months on the lees. Winery tasting notes: "The wine shows expressive bright red fruits, (strawberries and raspberries) along with watermelon and green ...
