2019 Domaine Trapet Père et Fils Chambertin Grand Cru (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
New!
96-98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Trapet's 2019 Chambertin Grand Cru is a profound wine in the making, and it can keeps company with vintage's finest. Wafting from the glass with deep aromas of cherries and cassis, complemented by notions of raw cocoa, blood orange, smoked meats, rich soil tones and spices, it's full-bodied, multidimensional and complete, with a weightless, elegant profile despite its prodigious concentration, its structuring tannins entirely concealed in an ample core of lively, vibrant fruit. My tasting with Jean-Louis Trap...

92-94 points Vinous: "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos du Fonteny 1er Cru comes from the domaine’s monopole. It has a well-defined, quite leafy bouquet that is a little timid at the moment compared to its siblings. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, a mixture of red and blueberry fruit and superb salinity and tension on the elegant finish. Recommended - one of Clair's hidden gems as everyone goes for the Clos Saint-Jacques! (NM)" (01/2020) 90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A cool, pure and elegant nose consists of aromas that mos...

Jancis Robinson: "Richly perfumed, warmly inviting. Taut and dry and firmly structured though the bones are fine. Fresh and scented on the mid palate and then drier again on the finish. Very very long. " (01/2012)

1999 Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru
Back In Stock!
97 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "The '99 Bèze just continues to get better and better with every passing year. A flat out gorgeously complex nose is comprised by spice, earth, minerality and still fresh red and black Pinot fruit aromas. There is excellent richness to the intense and beautifully well-delineated medium-bodied flavors that are blessed with plenty of mouth coating dry extract that confers a seductive texture onto the strikingly persistent finish. Like the '99 Chambertin, while this could be drunk now I would strongly advise holding it f...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs-Chenys Vieilles Vignes is lovely, bursting with aromas of cherries, raspberries, licorice and spices, framed by a deft touch of toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, supple and layered, with a charming core of fruit, powdery tannins and fine depth at the core. As ever, this derives from old vines below Charmes-Chambertin and shares some of that cru's attributes. (WK)" (01/2021) 92 points Vinous: "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs-Chenys, from vines adjacent to Charmes-Chambert...

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Opening in the glass with scents of cherries, cassis and blackberries complemented by hints of forest floor and raw cocoa, the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles Saint-Jacques (Domaine Louis Jadot) is medium-bodied, bright and fine-boned, underpinned by lively acids and displaying a delicate, elegant profile. This is shaping up very nicely. (WK)" (01/2021) 91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too is quite aromatically cool and even more elegant with its spicier array of red currant and disc...

89-91 points Vinous: "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a slightly rustic, ferrous bouquet that needs to knit together during the remainder of its élevage. The palate conveys satisfying sapidity and steely tannins. The taut, brisk, stony finish disguises the warmth of the growing season. Superb winemaking on display here. This is Pierre Duroché’s largest cuvée at 57 barrels. (NM)" (01/2020) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of ripe cherries, wild berries, spices and rich soil tones introduce the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, a medium-bodied...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another fine cuvée is the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur Bas, a wine derived from the part of this lieux-dit classified at the communal level, where Roty observes his grapes are always especially thick skinned. Offering up aromas of cherries, raspberries, cassis and rose petals, framed by toast oak, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and muscular, with the most depth and structure of Roty's three lieux-dits. (WK)" (01/2021) 92 points Vinous: "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur Bas is very well def...

93 points Decanter: "The Drouhins' En Champs is an old-vine parcel just opposite the cemetery. Fermented without stems as it would make the wine 'too vegetal', according to Caroline Drouhin, this is a plush, textured village Gevrey-Chambertin that will drink very well young but age decently too. Juicy, lipsmacking stuff with 40% new wood adding some appealing vanilla spice. Drinking Window 2021 - 2026. (TA)" (10/2019) 90-92 points Vinous: "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin En Champs has a well-defined, detailed bouquet of great precision (what a bon idée to s...

89-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A discreet application of wood can be found on the more floral-inflected aromas of pretty and relatively high-toned red berry fruit aromas that are cut with hints of newly turned earth and the sauvage. There is fine volume to the very punchy middle weight flavors that flash both very good depth and persistence on the mildly rustic finale. This has the potential to be an excellent Gevrey villages. *Outstanding!*" (01/2021) Vinous: "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes comes from vines up to 85 years old. It...

89-91 points Vinous: "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has much more clarity and Gevrey character than the version without SO2; this is much better. The palate is medium-bodied with fine acidity. Crisp and focused, displaying great clarity on the finish. Sorry, but judging them side by side, the judicious addition of SO2 renders the wine more articulate of its origin... and it is a wine that you actually want to drink. Superb. (NM)" (01/2020) K&L Notes: 90 points Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Includes a 2ha block of Clos des Combes. Pretty, mid-pur...

91-93 points Vinous: "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin "Ostrea" comes from three parcels near Brochon, the oldest vines of the domaine, and is raised 30% in demi-muids. Deep in color, it has a concentrated bouquet of dark berry fruit, raspberry coulis and blackberry, plus tobacco and light graphite aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and pure fruit. Elegant and almost understated toward the finish, which fans out and exerts a gentle grip. I can imagine this being early-drinking, but it also has the substance to age in bottle. (NM)" (12/2020...

88-90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is also quite pretty with its mix of plum, red currant and freshly turned earth wisps. The supple, round and succulent medium weight flavors possess an almost salty and equally refreshing finish that is notably firmer. " (01/2021) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village opens in the glass with notes of wild berry fruit, plums, spices and loamy soil. Medium-bodied, fleshy and elegantly textural, with tangy acids and melting tannins, it will offer a broad drinking window. (WK)" (01/...

92-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A pure and manifestly earthy and sauvage nose offers up notes of red and dark currant, humus and underbrush. There is excellent volume and mid-palate density to the beautifully delineated medium weight plus flavors that possess terrific focus and plenty of minerality on the strikingly long finish. As is usually the case this is markedly austere at present and will need plenty of cellar time before it's ready for prime time but it should be well worth the wait. *Don't Miss!*" (01/2014) 92-95 points Stephen Tanzer...

2019 Domaine Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin "Les Evocelles"
New!
91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Mingling aromas of wild berries and peonies with hints of dark chocolate, orange rind and cinnamon, the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles is medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with lively acids, elegantly powdery tannins and a long, mineral finish. Finer-boned and more ethereal than the richer, more muscular Coeur du Roy, this is frequently my favorite communal bottling chez Dugat-Py, and the 2019 rendition is no exception. (WK) 91-93+" (01/2021) 91-93 points Vinous: "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les ...

89-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "More deeply pitched aromas are comprised by notes of plum, the sauvage and a whiff of humus character. There is more size, weight and power to the attractively textured medium-bodied flavors that possess solid mid-palate density along with good cut and minerality on the firm finish. This is a very good Gevrey villages and worth checking out. *Outstanding*" (01/2021) Vinous: "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Champ offers bright black cherries and crushed violet aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins an...

93-95 points Vinous: "The 2018 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru is a vineyard where half the vineyard was pulled out in winter 2018. It does not deliver quite the same precision and detail as the Chapelle-Chambertin this year. Intense blackberry, raspberry and light cedar aromas unfold gently in the glass. The palate is well balanced with more red fruit compared to the Chapelle, a slightly creamy texture and a sensual, very harmonious, quite rich yet detailed finish. It might drink slightly earlier than the Chapelle-Chambertin, but it may well have equal...

89-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here too there is an attractive freshness to the more deeply pitched aromas of pungent earth, smoke, various dark berry and poached plum scents. There is a lovely inner mouth perfume to the fleshy and dense medium-bodied flavors that are surprisingly refined before culminating in a stony and youthfully austere finale. This is an excellent Gevrey villages. *Outstanding, Top Value*" (01/2021) 88-90 points Vinous: "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village is predominantly red berry fruit on the nose, mixed with light ros...

89-91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Le Clos is promising, unwinding in the glass with scents of cherries, raspberries, raw cocoa and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with tangy acids and melting tannins, it concludes with a penetrating finish. The 2019 vintage—which began on September 9 at this address—is another terrific success for Pierre Duroché. Volumes are down, with yields averaging around 30 hectoliters per hectare, but quality continues to climb: Supple, dynamic and concentrated, all these...

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is at once notably ripe yet agreeably fresh with its aromas of poached plum, spice and earth. There is excellent mid-palate density to the delicious and plush middle weight flavors that exhibit fine length and depth for a wine at this level plus it will age if desired. Recommended. *Outstanding*" (01/2021) Vinous: "The 2019 Bourgogne Rouge has quite a boisterous bouquet of upfront blackberry and iodine aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, modest depth, mulberry flavors and a light briny influence on ...

96 points Decanter: "Produced from 0.81ha of old vines in the original Charmes section, just underneath Chambertin, where the grapes have delivered an incredibly aromatic wine with ripe plummy fruit, exotic spice, smoke and mineral notes. This has a silky texture, but does not lack the backbone of the best Gevrey Grands Crus. Truly impressive. (CC)" (10/2020) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of cassis, orange rind, smoked meats and loamy soil introduce Faiveley's 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied, layered and...

2019 Domaine Faiveley Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Cazetièrs" (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Faiveley's 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers is very promising indeed, mingling aromas of smoky berry fruit and plums with hints of rose hip, orange peel, musk and spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's concentrated and vibrant, with velvety tannins, lively acids and a long, perfumed finish. (WK)" (01/2021) 92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "In contrast to the prior wines, here the nose is quite firmly reduced. More interesting are the superbly concentrated and gor...

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of cassis, red berries, raw cocoa, sweet soil tones and spices introduce Duroché's 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaut Saint-Jacques, a medium to full-bodied, layered and lively wine built around tangy acids and powdery tannins. Long and penetrating, it has turned out very nicely. (WK)" (01/2021) 94 points Vinous: "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaut Saint-Jacques 1er Cru was the last cuvée to be picked and is completely destemmed this year. It has a vibrant, energetic bouquet of red cherries, wild st...

2019 Domaine Joseph Drouhin Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru
New!
95 points James Suckling: "A very rich and concentrated wine that borders on opulence, but has a ton of fine tannins and enough acidity to keep it fresh. Some chocolate and coffee from new oak, but the very ripe red fruit is also very present. Very bold finish with plenty of tannin, but nothing dominant. Drink or hold." (07/2021) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is promising, bursting from the glass with aromas of wild berries, coniferous forest floor, sweet spices, orange oil and peonies. 90-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A decidedly earthy nose freely offers up ripe and very fresh red pinot aromas laced with underbrush and sauvage wisps. The sleek, punchy and beautifully well-detailed medium-bodied flavors display fine length on the mildly austere finale that flirts with rusticity." (01/2021) K&L Notes: 92-94 points Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "A cool site, purchased in 2013, on crinoidal limestone with clay, grassed between the rows. Younger vines are trained on cordon royat and the oldest vines on guyot. Darker purple with ...

92 points John Gilman: "The Taupenot parcel in the premier cru of la Riotte is also not young vines, as these are now more than fifty-five years of age. This is very transparent and refined in 2012, delivering a superb nose of red and black cherries, espresso, woodsmoke, gamebirds, a touch of chicory, dark soil tones and a touch of cedary oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and tightly-knit, with a fine core of fruit, firm, ripe tannins and a long, primary and focused finish that closes with a bit of youthful herbacité today. This will be lo...

92-94 points Vinous: "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin "Ostrea" comprises around 70% whole cluster this year and comes from parcels around the village of Brochon. This has an elegant bouquet of gorgeous wild strawberry and raspberry preserve aromas, the oak seamlessly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and well-judged acidity, and so juicy that it is nigh impossible to detect the stem addition. This might well constitute the best "Ostrea" I have tasted from Trapet. (NM)" (01/2020) 90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bursting with aromas of blackberries, plums, cassis, rich forest floor and black truffle, Roty's 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Village is medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, with rich structuring tannins and a generous core of fruit. Lively and penetrating, if this vintage is overall a rather long-haul proposition chez Roty, this is one cuvée that's unusually approachable young. (WK)" (01/2021) Vinous: "A blend of several lieux-dits, the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Village seems much tighter on the nose compared...

96 points James Suckling: "So complete, it’s hard to believe that this isn’t a Grand Cru. Stunning concentration, very fine tannins and lovely freshness at the long, intensely mineral finish. So much drive and elegance! Drink or hold." (07/2021) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of plums, smoky berry fruit, forest floor and peonies preface the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques, a medium to full-bodied, layered and lively wine built around succulent acids and youthfully chalky tannins. This is a touch finer-boned and ...

98 points James Suckling: "Enormous structure here, the tannins resembling the perfectly toned muscles of a body builder, but this enormously dense wine also has excellent balance, the freshness at the widescreen finish lifting this huge mass effortlessly. Drinkable now, but better from 2023." (07/2021) 96 points Decanter: "From 1.56ha of several parcels in the Mazis-Haut lieu-dit. Despite a fermentation in open-top wood fermenters, with a proportion of whole clusters punched down daily and aged in 60% new casks, this is far from aggressive. Seductivel...

2019 Domaine Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Champeaux" Très Vieilles Vignes
New!
93-95 points Vinous: "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Champeaux 1er Cru saw 50% whole bunch with two-thirds new oak. It has a subtle, cerebral bouquet featuring gorgeous black fruit mixed with sea spray, cockle sheds and graphite aromas; this is very classy. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, very intense and energetic, leading to a sorbet-fresh, blood-orange-infused finish that has a lot of potential. Cellar this Champeaux for five or six years if you can, because it has ambition. (NM)" (12/2020) 91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " A mu...

91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Discreet wood frames the very cool, super-fresh, restrained and equally elegant nose of various wild red berries, humus, violet, lilac and a whiff of anise. There is again superb intensity to the chiseled and tautly muscular larger-scaled flavors that seem to be built on a base of pungent minerality while displaying superb length. However, this too needs to develop more depth though given this wine's excellent track record, it should be able to do just that if given adequate time." (01/2021) 90-92 points Vinous:...

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Always the richest and most muscular of Dugat-Py's communal bottlings, the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Coeur du Roy unwinds in the glass with aromas of raspberries, plums, forest floor, spices and grilled meats. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and layered, with a broad-shouldered chassis of fine, powdery tannins and lively acids, it's long and penetrating. As usual, it derives from vines between 50 and 109 years of age located in the lieux-dits Epointures, Combe du Dessus, Jouise and Les Marchais, and it was vi...

92-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Like the Champeaux, the nose is brooding and backward though pretty with its array of earth, liqueur-like dark berries and lovely spice wisps. There is again outstanding volume to the beautifully textured large-scaled flavors that exude a bracing salinity on the sneaky long and well-balanced finale. Here too plenty of patience will be required." (01/2021) K&L Notes: PLEASE NOTE: This pre-arrival item is being offered without any added tariffs. 95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Chambertin Grand Cru contains 50% whole bunch fruit this year, after half the vineyard (three parcels) was decimated by frost. It has a very elegant bouquet that takes time to unfold in the glass: blackberry, raspberry, wild hedgerow, wet stone and a touch of graphite. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, leaning more toward red fruit than black, well balanced with a fine line of acidity and a grainy, structured finish. Classic Chambertin here and a great success considering the extent ...

96 points Decanter: "Aristocratic' is how winemaker Jérôme Flous describes this superb Grand Cru bottling, which combines understated power and concentration with some tannic grip and refreshing acidity. It's a wine that needs more time in barrel and bottle to integrated its 50% new wood, but has all the elements to be age with distinction. Rich and serious. (TA)" (10/2019) 92-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Once again there is just enough wood to point out along with hints of menthol, anise and the sauvage adding breadth to the ripe dark currant...

93 points Wine Spectator: "A concentrated nugget of cherry is bound up in the depths of this red. Features a silky exterior and holds together well, flexing some tannins on the finish. Should come into its own in a few years. (BS)" (09/2017) 89-91 points Vinous: "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Au Closeau 1er Cru has a wonderful bouquet of red currant, cranberry and light sous-bois aromas, all very focused and nicely detailed. The palate is equipped with fine, supple tannins that render this a pliant Gevrey-Chambertin, although there is some new oak on the ...

89-91 points Vinous: "The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Village includes around 25–30% whole bunch. The well-defined bouquet needs a little more clarity and brightness vis-à-vis the domaine’s other cuvées. The palate is medium-bodied with good grip on the entry. Quite a structured Chambolle-Musigny Village with a finish that more echoes a Morey-Saint-Denis. A finely crafted yet serious Chambolle. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Bruno Clair Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos St-Jacques" (93ST, 92RP, 91BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. A real essence of Burgundy on the nose, combining musky red berries, dried flowers and underbrush. Silky and perfumed, with a lovely light touch and subtle intensity to the berry, cherry and violet flavors. This wonderfully pure, understated wine saturates the palate and glistens on the very long, scented finish, which is accented by a peppery nuance. Will this close up in bottle? (ST)" (03/2014)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Camille Giroud Chambertin Grand Cru ((91-94BH), 92ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A reserved, indeed almost brooding nose of Gevrey earth, spice, tea, leather, game and smoke that dissolves into rich, full and completely serious flavors that deliver outstanding volume, particularly for the vintage, as well as excellent focus, power and length. This too completely saturates the palate with mouth coating sap and a firm tannic spine assures that a long future is in store. A stunner of a wine and worth a search. *Don't Miss!*" (04/2006)

Bid on this bottle of 2002 Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru ((94-96RP), 96VN, 95BH, 95JG, 93ST). Vinous: "Rousseau's 2002 Chambertin is in the zone. Succulent, racy and open, the 2002 is ready to deliver pleasure. The purity of the fruit alone is striking. Even so, the 2002 is still very much at the early part of its first plateau of maturity, as the flavors remain very bright and fresh. In this vertical, the 2002 comes across as a wine of immediacy, with a bit less structure and overall energy than the very best vintages. I say that with some hesitation, as the 2002 is exceptional. It is just a little less exceptional than a few of the other wines in this vertical. (AG)" (08/2017)
