Domaine Marius Delarche is a not-so-well-known name that occupies a small slice of the very famous hill of Corton. Established in the 1940s, the estate is now operated by Etienne Delarche, farming some 9 hectares in the villages of Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton. The estate has been called, by a wine importer, "Certainly the Côte de Beaune’s best-kept secret—gorgeous wines made by an honest winemaker for prices that reminded of decades past."

97 points Decanter: "From the slopes above Montrachet, planted in 1962. The result shows aromas that meld citrus, tropical, and white stone fruits with a strong sense of salty minerality and notes of smoke and beeswax. The wine is firmly structured, with lots of racy acidity and plenty of extract, but there is never a loss of elegance or finesse. This is a superb wine that will easily continue to improve for thirty or forty years in a proper cellar. (CC)" (01/2021) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru wafts ...

95 points Decanter: "Goutte d'Or (without an 's' chez Lafon) is generally the most powerful wine in the domaine's outstanding line up, with more of what Dominique Lafon calls 'punch'. Broader, creamier and a little more Meursault like, as it were, it has notes of beeswax and cream subtle oak and the refreshing acidity and minerality that are hallmarks of this early-picked style. Drinking Window 2022 - 2030. (TA)" (10/2019) 91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A restrained nose offers up cool, ripe and agreeably fresh aromas of white peach, citrus a...

2019 Château de la Maltroye Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Romanée"
New!
94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " A naturally exotic nose features aromas of white and yellow orchard fruit, anise, jasmine tea and plenty of floral elements. Here too the medium-bodied flavors are gorgeously textured while exhibiting huge length on the highly complex and balanced finale. This is a knockout in 2019 and enthusiastically recommended. *Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!*" (06/2021)
Price: $129.99

96 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A highly restrained nose requires considerable swirling to liberate the beautifully well-layered aromas of mineral reduction, white rose, spice, citrus and a wisp of exotic tea. Like the Pucelles there is excellent richness and detail and much more minerality-suffusing the almost painfully intense finale that is breathtaking in its persistence. This is a gem of a Puligny 1er and in 2016 is a lovely blend of power and finesse. In sum, this is a knockout. *Don't miss! Outstanding*" (06/2018) 95 points Vinous: "Superb...

92-94 points Vinous: "The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Clos Saint-Jean 1er Cru possesses an intense bouquet: quince and marmalade aromas infuse the vibrant, penetrating citrus fruit, and crushed pebbles and chalky aromas emerge with time. The palate conveys palpable energy. A vibrant Chassagne-Montrachet with fabulous acidity and a razor-sharp, brilliantly defined finish that frankly flirts with Grand Cru quality. Stunning. (NM)" (01/2020) 89-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A more reticent nose timidly offers up note of resin, rosemary oil, grapefru...

94-96 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A densely fruited nose that is more complex if less elegant also only grudgingly offers up notes of wet stone, mandarin orange peel, white flowers, pear liqueur and plenty of spice and soft wood nuances. There is an almost painful intensity to the even more concentrated and overtly powerful broad-shouldered flavors that brim with dry extract that simultaneously coats the palate while buffering the extremely firm acid spine on the incredibly long finish. " (06/2019) 94-96 points Vinous: "The 2017 Montrachet Grand...

96 points Wine Spectator: "Intense peach, apple, citrus, hazelnut and pastry aromas and flavors are the hallmarks of this sophisticated white. Lush and smooth, with lively acidity and fine harmony. The aftertaste lingers effortlessly, showing elements of fruit and spice, as well as a touch of woody tannins. Best from 2022 through 2030." (09/2020) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of pastry cream, fresh pears, Meyer lemon and white flowers introduce Ramonet's 2017 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, a full-bodied, deep and textural wi...

93-95 points Vinous: "The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru comes from vines around 50 years of age. It boasts a stunning bouquet, the crushed wet limestone, subtle citrus peel and light smoky notes emerging from the glass with exceptional delineation. The palate is supremely well balanced, with beautifully integrated oak, hints of vanilla pod and almond flakes that complement the steeliness and focus on the finish. Just a brilliant wine. (NM)" (01/2020) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the highlights of the portfolio ...

2018 Domaine Thierry & Pascale Matrot Meursault 1er Cru "Les Perrières"
Top Pick!
90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is aromatically similar to the Combettes at present though with the addition of glimpses of citrus elements. The delicious and intense middle weight flavors aren't quite as concentrated though they are more refined while displaying even more minerality on the lingering and focused finale that delivers impressive length. This is an interesting wine at present because it is lilting, indeed almost delicate yet I suspect that with time in bottle it will gradually put on weight and volume. *Outstanding*" (06/2020)...

95 points James Suckling: "A rich and powerful Chassagne-Montrachet with serious concentration and creaminess, but thanks to the acidity and the fine tannins this remains poised through the long and very sensual finish. Drink or hold." (07/2021) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche is also very promising, wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, mandarin orange, white flowers, warm bread and baking spices. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, with a deep and layered...

94 points Vinous: "The 2018 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a very classy, quite understated bouquet, especially considering the vintage, with fleeting scents of orange blossom, crushed flint and a touch of flaked almonds. The palate is well balanced with intense citrus fruit, orange zest and peach all laced with lemongrass and white pepper. This fans out beautifully towards the finish, completing a superb Bâtard-Montrachet from Jean-Marc Boillot. (NM)" (01/2020) K&L Notes: 95 points Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Fine pale colour, almost a touch of c...

2019 Château de la Maltroye Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Grandes Ruchottes"
New!
93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A restrained, cool and elegant nose of white flower, various citrus and spiced apple is admirably pure and airy. The sleek, intense and more obviously mineral-driven flavors possess a highly attractive underlying tension on the impressively persistent, balanced and complex finale that is slightly firmer. This too is excellent and merits checking out. *Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!*" (06/2021) K&L Notes: Jean-Pierre Cornut currently leads this family estate with a near century-long history. The domaine encompass...

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Exotic aromas of honeysuckle, passion fruit, white peach and pineapple are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. The succulent, indeed even opulent, medium-bodied flavors also brim with dry extract before culminating in a sneaky long and mouth coating finish. This very stylish effort also needs to develop more depth, but the underlying material appears to be up to the challenge." (06/2020) K&L Notes: Paul Pernot has run the domaine since 1955 and now two of his sons are assisting him. They own 19 hectares of fanta...

94 points Decanter: "Tighter and better balanced than the Drouhins' Les Embazées premier cru in 2017, this is entirely sourced from the prestigious Laguiche holdings. It has a beautifully judged combination of leesy texture, aromatic spices and 30% new wood, finishing with bright, refreshing acidity. Drinking window 2020-2027. (TA) " (11/2018) 94 points John Gilman: "Obviously I have a soft spot for this beautiful bottling of Morgeot, as I wrote a feature on the Marquis de Laguiche bottling back in the spring. The 2017 version is flat out stunning and...

91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the reticent nose is dominated by notes of matchstick, reduction and smoke. There is a bit more volume to the sophisticated flavors that possess excellent mid-palate sap, all wrapped in a mineral-driven and highly persistent and beautifully complex finish. *Sweet Spot Outstanding*" (06/2020) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes was also showing well, mingling apples, peach and fresh pastry with notes of hazelnuts and white flowers. On the palate, it's m...

89-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A slightly fresher if otherwise similar nose precedes racier and more voluminous flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the delicious, generous and more complex finish that is shaped by citrus-tinged acidity. This is lovely. *Burghound Outstanding!*" (06/2020) 91 points John Gilman: "The 2018 Meursault villages bottling is also a very pretty example of the vintage. This is never a particularly powerful AC, but rather one of complexity, intensity of flavor and lovely transparency and this is certainly the case...

95 points Decanter: "Jean-Marc Roulot purchases grapes from two producers in Ladoix to produce this excellent Corton-Charlemagne under his négociant label. It has some of his characteristic restraint and flinty, struck match reduction, but the exuberance and power of the terroir is apparent too, framed by scented, fine-grained oak. Long and complex with impressive focus. (TA)" (10/2018) 92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is also admirably pure, cool and elegant with its array of green apple, wet stone, white flower and a plenitude of subtle ...

98 points Vinous: "Wonderfully ripe, deep aromas of lime, minerals and crushed stone. An incredible mouthful of stones and minerals, with uncanny intensity, juiciness and lift. At this point in my marathon tasting with Boillot, my handwriting was degenerating and I was using exclamation marks rather than adjectives. Flat-out great white Burgundy. Incidentally, Boillot changed his supplier of Corton-Charlemagne as of this vintage; he now works with vines in Aloxe-Corton that face full south. 91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here too notes of mineral reduction can be found on the even more elegant and slightly cooler essence of apple, pear and citrus zest. The racy tension-filled flavors are almost painfully intense yet manage to preserve a gorgeous mouthfeel, all wrapped in an impressively persistent, firm and delicious finale. This doesn't possess the sheer class of the Combettes and it needs more depth but the potential is here. *Sweet Spot Outstanding*" (06/2020) 90-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Notes of citrus oil, ...

99 points James Suckling: " So ripe, but also deep and delicate, this is a masterpiece of creamy sensuality, the considerable power and concentration underplayed, with the result that it has noble elegance. Yes, there is a hint of exotic fruit in the nose, but also minty freshness. The finish is very long and intense, but so finely nuanced. Drink or hold." (07/2021) 94-97 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An overtly floral yet restrained nose reflects additional notes of lemon zest, white peach and apple compote. There is outstanding volume to the con...

94 points Decanter: "Frequently among my favourite wines at the domaine, this spicy, concentrated, lees-rich Premier Cru was planted in three stages and has an average age of around 40 years. Beneath the texture, weight and stone fruit flavours, embellished by notes of cinnamon and nutmeg, there's plenty of supporting acidity and some tannic grip. (TA)" (10/2019) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bursting with aromas of ripe citrus, pear and mint that are framed by a deft touch of oak, Moreau's 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie i...

94 points Wine Spectator: "Perfumed and expressive, this charming white exudes peach, lemon cake, citronella, seashore and baking spice flavors. Vibrant, smooth and balanced, with a lingering toasty, nutty aftertaste. (BS)" (05/2021) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint-Marc (Récolte du Domaine) is showing very well, mingling aromas of crisp orchard fruit and white flowers with hints of almond paste, vanilla pod and freshly baked bread. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and charming, with li...

There is a bit more volume to the even more powerful larger-scaled flavors that are strikingly refined while exuding ample minerality on the balanced and wonderfully persistent finish. This is a Chevalier of power and finesse with huge upside development potential. Classy juice." (06/2020) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Chevalier-Mont...

93 points Vinous: "The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru has a sophisticated bouquet with crushed limestone and flint, like a pimped up version of the Les Referts! The palate is very well balanced with impressive concentration and a killer line of acidity. A spicy, ginger and lemongrass-tinged finish lingers in the mouth. This is an engaging and multi-faceted Les Combettes. This classy effort should be approachable young if desired. *Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!*" (06/2021) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bursting with expressive aromas of peaches, orange blossom, yellow orchard fruit and buttery pastry, Pernot's 2019 Puligny-M...

Here too there is a lovely sense of energy to the detailed and slightly finer middle weight flavors that possess an attractive underlying tension and minerality on the punchy and very dry mouth coating finish where a hint of bitter lemon gradually emerges. *Burghound Sweetspot Outstanding!!* " (06/2020) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières is showing well,...

91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Notes of petrol, white flower and citrus possess background hints of honeysuckle and whiffs of the exotic. There is very good richness to the vibrant and stony middle weight flavors that offer fine persistence and a simply gorgeous mouthfeel before terminating in an impressively persistent finish that flashes very fine depth. This is an interesting wine in that there is solid power to it, yet the texture is almost delicate. Lovely stuff. *Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!!*" (06/2020) 90-92 points Vinous: "The 2...

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is a whiff of the exotic to the fresh and ripe mix of white and yellow orchard fruit aromas that exhibit subtle spice and petrol wisps. Once again there is fine volume to the exceptionally rich medium weight plus flavors that are both seductive and generously proportioned, all wrapped in a sappy, balanced and complex finale. This is very Vide Bourse in basic character. *Burghound Outstanding!*" (06/2020) 91-93 points Vinous: "The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vides Bourses 1er Cru, which lies just below th...

94 points Decanter: "More upright and closed than the other two Premiers Crus in Jacques Carillon's range, with flavours of citrus peel and green herbs, this is still very youthful at the moment and will need more time in bottle to digest its 20% new wood. Taut and focused, with a very flinty, mineral palate and some subtle struck match reduction. Drinking Window 2022 - 2028. (TA)" (10/2018) 92-94 points Vinous: "The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru comes from a parcel close to Les Perrières. It has a much more reserved and broody bouquet co...

92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too is very firmly reduced and offers almost nothing discernible on the nose save for hints of wood and citrus. Like the Poruzots, there is fine volume and once again very good concentration to the broad-shouldered and imposingly-scaled flavors that possess a highly attractive mouth feel that continues onto the delicious, sappy and citrusy and overtly mineral-inflected finale. This compact and very serious effort is clearly going to require extended cellaring to reveal its full, and considerable, potential." ...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of yellow orchard fruit, beeswax and fresh apricot introduce Colin's 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes, a medium to full-bodied, lively and precise wine that's bright and chalky, with a coiled core of fruit and a long, saline finish. The harvest date would appear to have been perfectly judged here. Joseph Colin—who left Domaine Marc Colin to start a domaine of his own in 2016—is going from strength to strength and is justly delighted with his 2019 portfolio. "We've never had acidities like...

2019 Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Clos de la Mouchère" (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " In contrast to the nose of the Pucelles, here it's elegant, pure and airy with its layered aromas of essence of apple, pear and acacia blossom. There is excellent volume and mid-palate density to the mouth coating and caressing middle weight flavors that culminate in a lemony finish that is hugely long if perhaps not quite as crisp. This too is very stylish and a wine that should age gracefully for years. *Burghound Don't Miss Outstanding!*" (06/2021) 95 points Decanter: "The Clos de la Mouchère is a domaine monop...

93-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A profound, light to medium-bodied wine, the 2002 Corton-Charlemagne bursts from the glass with minerals, flowers, fresh herbs, and hints of mint. It is a pure, fleshy offering of outstanding depth, concentration, and power. Loads of sappy minerals are intermingled with spices and apples in its refined, noble character. (PR)" (02/2004) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Intense and minerally, rich but not fat, and racy, evoking lemon, apple and stone notes accented by spicy oak. Still very tightly wound and balanced...

95 points Decanter: "Though a dark straw colour similar to the 2004, the 2005 is riper, reflecting the vintage, with more melons than spice. Still, characteristic peppery notes come through nicely. Indeed, over the years tasting them side-by-side, the 2005 has always been riper and richer, while the 2004, racier and sleeker. Despite its richer presence, it retains vibrancy and is still energetic the next night. The 2005/2004 pair present an intriguing duality of style to consumers. Drinking Window 2021 - 2026. (MA)" (01/2021) 91-94 points Allen Meadows...

94 points James Suckling: "Complex aromas of dried apples, apricots, basil and matchstick. Full-bodied with layers of fruit and a fascinating combination of ripe fruit, smoke and lemon grass. Long and very flavorful." (08/2020) 92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Wisps of resin, petrol and wood sit atop the mostly white flower and citrus -scented nose. There is fine volume and equally good vibrancy to the nicely mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors that exhibit fine length on the balanced finish where the citrus character flashed by the nose reeme...

95 points Decanter: "Bouchard have some of the biggest holdings of Corton-Charlemagne, at 3.9ha, all of them east-facing and high on the slope. This is perfumed and intense, with citrus rind and tangerine notes, chalky freshness and old-vine concentration. The oak is assertive but well integrated. (TA)" (10/2018) 94 points James Suckling: "Super chalky with restrained notes of stones and minerals, as well as orange and clementine aromas and lightly spiced bread dough, in attractive mode. The palate has a smoothly layered and very approachable feel with...

94 points Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "There was a normal crop here, no excess, old vines from 1955. Pale lemon with a faint green tint. This is quite reserved on the nose. The palate shows very well however with a thrilling incisive backbone as Puligny should have and exceptional length. It is just very backward at the moment. Very good finish. Tasted: November 2019."
Price: $119.99

90-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Moderate reduction once again suppresses the underlying fruit though it does seem ripe. More interesting are the slightly bigger and richer flavors that manage to retain pretty good delineation on the attractively textured and vibrant finale where the only reproach is a hint of warmth." (06/2020) K&L Notes: 90-93pts Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Clear bright lemon. Biscuity toast on the nose, perhaps the oak speaking. There is substantial muscle to this, all in white fruit, some clay soil flesh, a little lemon...

94 points Decanter: "Despite its location next to Meursault and its tendency to produce slightly broader wines, this is a Premier Cru that is nicely restrained in 2018. Floral and aromatic, with some citrus peel and aniseed scents that segue into a zety slightly salty palate with some lees-derived weight, stylish 20% new wood and a zesty, refreshing finish. (TA)" (10/2019) 91-93 points Vinous: "he 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Champs Canet 1er Cru offers attractive lime and green apple aromas, the 20% new oak nicely integrated. The palate is well balanced wi...

95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This presently has the same nose as the Corton-Charlemagne as it's both reduced and mildly woody though I would not expect this to persist beyond the first few years as the reduction is not heavy. There is once again outstanding volume and concentration as well as impressive size, weight and richness to the highly seductive big-bodied flavors that possess a plenitude of dry extract that both coats the palate and buffers the firm acid spine shaping the gorgeously long and well-balanced finale. In 2014 this more resemb...

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is a hint of exoticism to the citrus, pear and white peach suffused nose that is trimmed in a whiff of toasted tangerine peel. The rich and highly energetic flavors possess a good amount of dry extract as well as excellent length on the stony, clean and markedly dry finish. This beautiful effort possesses an interesting flavor profile as the mouthfeel is lilting yet authoritative. One to look for. *Sweet Spot, Outstanding* " (06/2020)
Price: $139.99

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the equally complex nose flirts with exoticism with its intensely floral aromas of both white and yellow peach and apricot. The intense and slightly bigger-bodied flavors possess excellent volume and evident power while flashing a really lovely texture, all wrapped in a hugely long and stony finale. This isn't as refined as the Genevrières but there is even better depth. *Sweet Spot Outstanding!*" (06/2021) 93 points Decanter: "Grapes come from a new vineyard for Boillot, with 60-year-old vines located in a cl...
Price: $129.99

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the nose is quite firmly reduced and essentially unreadable today. More interesting are the highly energetic and intensely stony ultra-refined flavors that exhibit excellent persistence on the focused and balanced finale. This classy effort is a wine of finesse and should drink reasonably well young but reward up to a decade of cellaring. In short, this is really lovely juice." (06/2020)
Price: $169.99

90-92 points Vinous: "The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Clavoillons 1er Cru comes from 0.50 hectares of 60-year-old vines and sees around 35% new oak. It has a little more detail and stoniness on the nose compared directly with the Champ Gains. The palate is very well balanced, with orange pith, lime, a pinch of white pepper and flinty notes toward the sustained finish. It might need a little more depth considering the climat in question, although it does reveal a very pleasant fiery quality on the aftertaste. (NM)" (01/2020) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine A...

This is lovely and should be approachable a bit sooner than its 2017 counterpart." (06/2020) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Revisited from bottle,...
