This single-walled vineyard is the top of the line from Fallet-Dart. Although not labeled as a vintage, it is 100% 2006 and composed of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir that is barrel fermented. It is aged for over 12 years on the lees before release. The word "tirage" in French, which appears on the back label, means "bottling", and this all 2006 champagne was bottled in fall of 2007 and has spent an incredible 12 plus years on the lees. 95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "As with many cuvées here, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Crossfire Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard is the best in the lineup. Smoked tobacco, chocolate, damp earth, and ripe black fruits all define the bouquet, and this beauty is full-bodied, has a round, supple, layered mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and a great finish. Drink this sexy, round, complex, satisfying 2019 over the coming 15+ years." (02/2023) 93 points James Suckling: "A red with lots of blackberry, chocolate and coffee character on the nose and palate, yet it comes...

95 points Decanter: "If it’s good enough for James Bond, it’s good enough for you. Bollinger Champagne has made a number of cameos in James Bond films over the year. This non-vintage Special Cuvée is an example of a classic Champagne done well. Notes of marzipan on the nose and the palate give toastiness and leesy notes, specifically sourdough. It’s classic for a reason and would only elevate any table it finds itself on. (BC)" (12/2023) 93 points Burghound: "Restrained and very pretty aromas include those of yeast, Meyer lemon, petrol and green apple ...

Alexandre Le Brun is the smallest producer that we import (or even carry) from Champagne at just 7.5 acres. He only makes wine from half of the grapes he brings in, selling the rest off to negociants; his production totals just one thousand cases a year. This tiny scale allows Alex to do nearly everything himself and this hands-on approach shows through in the finished product. He only uses his own estate fruit for his Champagne, and this wine comes from just two rows in the grand cru of Chouilly, in a plot called La Derriere du Mont Aigu. This is electr...

92 points Burghound: "If you enjoy overtly yeasty Champagne this would make a good choice as there is plenty of it here framing the relatively elegant nose that combines notes of citrus, white flowers, pear and apple scents that display wisps of secondary development. The old vines definitely are in evidence here with fine mid-palate density that is supported by a moderately fine mousse, all wrapped in a delicious, sappy and lingering finish. This isn't a particularly refined example but I quite like it for its complexity and clear concentration." (10/20...

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Composed of 65% Chardonnay and the rest Pinot Noir, the NV Champagne Grand Cru Bouzy Les Terres Roses (5% red wine) pours a bright pale pink hue and reveals aromatics of ripe strawberry, fresh bread dough, and candied roses. Juicy and inviting, with a fluffy mousse, it’s full-bodied and has a clean, supple, fruity texture. It’s fresh and savory on the palate, with salty lift and a note of orange zest that leaves a mouthwatering finish. Drink 2024-2040. One gram per liter dosage. Balanced and even with a lingering finish. " (09/2023) 94 points Wine Spectator: "This 2021 bottling is sourced primarily from the estate’s Coombsville vineyard, located in the southeastern corner of Napa Valley. From a cool, late-ripening spot, Coombsville fruit is often blended with riper, more forward, up-valley fruit in order to add spine and definition to Napa ...

This is the Thompson Brothers foray into the world of blending. It's also proof that they've got some of the absolute best palates in the business. They seem to be getting access to stocks where others struggle, and this little vatting of over 8-year-old malts is one of the most intriguing and delicious malts on our shelves at any price point. SRV5 refers to Station Road Vat 5, the wooden vessel where this whisky is mingled before bottling. The Dornoch boys bottle in very small batches and the source material is of the highest quality. 94 points James Suckling: "Complex and layered Champagne with aromas of hazelnuts, ginger, candied citrus, dried pineapple, spices, toast and roasted almonds. Very fine and integrated bubbles and an elegant yet concentrated interplay of dried fruit and toasty notes." (06/2022) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a fine Champagne—fruity and with a touch of almonds. The blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes leads to a harmonious richness that is balanced by the tight acidity at the end. (RV)" (12/2022) Jancis Robinson: "Smoky lemon and orange oils ...

It’s medium- to full-bodied with freshness, a creamy texture and a long, delicious finish. 40% pinot meunier, 30% chardonnay and 30% pinot noir. 28% 2019 and the rest reserve wine going back to 2006. Supremely vibrant and perfumed with fine tannins that run the length of the medium-bodied palate. Textural. Ground spice and fresh fruit are intertwined, providing wonderful depth and complexity. So long as well. Seamless balance. Superb. Sustainable. " (10/2022) 96 points Bob Campbell: "Deep crimson. The beauty of the Thompson Brothers is that they're willing to take risks. This offering is indeed a risky proposition for a bottler, the very reason the big guys were willing to let it go. On paper it reads like a very expensive blended scotch. But why add an age statement, when a 12-year-old Johnnie Walker is a fraction of the price? The age statement tells the entire story here and our friends at Dornoch care little for artificial labels and quality statements, all they care about is getting damn good whisky into your glass for an incredible price. So...

This shockingly delicious high proof blanco has come completely out of left field. From the relatively unknown Agave Conquista Distillery, it delivers a high proof blanco experience in a completely transparent way. The agave is organically farmed, estate-grown and additive-free. After roasting in brick ovens, it's fermented with only native yeast in stainless steel tanks before being double distilled on small pots and bottled at high proof in liters. Expect classic Lowland aromas and a crispy yet robust mouthfeel.

We've had a roller coaster of a relationship with Single Grain whisky at K&L. The redheaded stepchild of Scotch, it's long been a category requiring significant amounts of education. If it wasn't super old and cheap most people turned their noses up at it after being ingrained with the pre-conception that good scotch is single malt, hard stop full stop. But occasionally we come across a barrel so unique that it defies those pre-conceptions. This absolutely monster cask is only the second grain we've ever sold that was aged in sherry and comes from the no...

97 points Vinous: "This is now the third opportunity I have had to review the utterly stunning 2019 Syrah SJR Vineyard - a wine that is actually showing better than when I first tasted it. Initially more reticent and Burgundian, this polished Syrah was aged in 60% new French oak before bottling. The wine shows beautiful red rose petals, nori, smoldering stones and orange blossom. The palate is exceedingly elegant with silky tannins and a light dusting of white pepper and salinity. Ripe strawberry, pomegranate seed and orange rind flavors combine with wet...

This Champagne comes from a very special plot in Monthelon, just behind the Le Brun house on a southeast facing slope. It is entirely Meunier, half of which was planted in 1952 and the other half in 1902; the oldest living vines that I have seen in Champagne. The village of Monthelon is in the Côteaux de Sud Épernay, one of the coldest microclimates in Champagne, and that cold climate, in tandem with these ancient vines, has given us a truly epic wine. Alex’s craft has added to this — he uses a combination of small oak and large foudres for this wine alo...

This lovely Tormore will certainly be the last thing most people consider, but for the lucky ones who take the plunge, it will be undoubtedly be the sleeper of the whisky season. The gorgeoous distillery is such a welcome site after hours on the A95 working your up the River Spey. The striking copper roof and stone balconies makes it one of Scotland's most attractive. It is infact one of Scotland's youngest single malt distillery, the first new distillery built in the 20th century, designed by Alexander Cullen for Long John Ltd, founders of Ben Nevis dis...

(04/2022) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Crafted from 70-year-old vines, this Champagne comes from a single vineyard in the Côte de Sézanne. Juicy and focused, with very good depth and sweetness to its red berry and bitter cherry flavors. Lively but deeply flavored, with spicy cherry and raspberry flavors and subtle floral pastille and bay leaf nuances. The floral quality builds with air and carries through the impressively persistent finish, which features dusty tannins and a whiplash of sweet red fruit. This one looks like a good cellar candidate. Lithe, precise and sweet, conveying a sense of power without weight. The wine's high-pitched notes of red berries, blood orange and minerals linger on a long and strikingly precise finish. This is a selection of lots from the Bien Nacido vineyard. (JR) " (11/2010)

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "The dryness, crispness and overall elegance of this Pinot Noir make it compelling. It's a miracle how it manages to be so low in alcohol, yet so rich. Dusty Asian spices like nutmeg and cinnamon accentuate flavors of mashed red cherries, red currants, cola and cedar, with a tease of rosehip tea. Shows extraordinary tension."

This all-estate Champagne is aged for six years on the lees and is composed of 70% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay and 15% Meunier. This wine has very fine, brioche like aromas from the long sur lie aging as well as a savory cherry note from the high-quality Pinot. It is very rich and long in the mouth, with a fine bead, again from long aging.

This lovely lowland distillery is one of the closest historical distilleries to the city of Glasgow and you might get lucky and see a head of Highland cattle that occasionally graze on the well-manicured lawns if you make the short trek out to Clydebank. Like most Lowland distillers Auchentoshan does a proper triple distillation leaving a finer spirit with fewer impurities and a soft sweet malty character. The distillery was founded in 1823 and operated continuously until being completely rebuilt in the late 1960s. In 1984, the famed whisky maker Stanley...

A great wine out of the gate, it captures the sunny feel of the region, but it’s light on its feet and closes with a great finish.
