This all estate grown rosé is based on old-vine Chardonnay from Chouilly and Cramant. It gets its rosé color and flavor from an ancient plot of Meunier grown just between the villages of Chavot and Monthelon south of Epernay. It is a refreshing, elegant style of rosé, great for the aperitif or to pair with a smoked salmon appetizer. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)
94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2021 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is deep ruby-hued (it's not opaque) and offers an intense, piercing perfume of peppery red and black cherries, sappy herbs, candied violets, and spicy oak. Beautifully balanced, medium-bodied, and concentrated, it brings plenty of ripe tannins, has nicely integrated oak, and a great finish. It's a serious Pinot Noir that's going to benefit from just a year or three of bottle age and shine through at least 2033." (08/2024) 93 points Vinous: "The 2021 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vi...

This great bottle comes from the far northern edge of Champagne in the Massif St-Thierry, north of Reims. All of the vines for this 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Meunier cuvée come from Cormincy, the last village in Champagne before the flats facing out towards the Ardennes. As one would expect from a Blanc de Noir, this is a full-bodied wine with plenty of savory red fruit flavor. Due to its far northern provenance, this Champagne also has great snap and refreshment to balance out its power. - Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer

This Champagne is produced exclusively from estate grown fruit and is composed of 80% Meunier and 20% Pinot Noir which is aged for three years on the lees. It has great natural richness, and fantastic red cherry zing, but finishes quite dry and bright. -Gary Westby, K&L Wine Buyer
This single vineyard, 100% Meunier champagne comes from the oldest and best plot of Thierry Thibault's estate, La Croix St. Remy in the fabled-for-meunier village of Verneuil. The over fifty year old parcel is vinified in stainless steel and was aged for six years on the lees and then more than a year on the cork. Thierry's father was the chef de cave at Charles Heidsieck, and was a huge believer in post disgorgement ageing. The results are fantastic- a rich tarte tatin nose and mid palate, filled with Meunier personality but free of any rustic flavors, ...

93 points Vinous: "The 2018 Pinot Noir Estate Upper Picnic Block is eminently charming in its sweet-fruited, exuberantly spiced, medium-weight build. Layers of kirsch, raspberry sauce, cinnamon, cardamom and iodine mark a wine of sexiness and sensuality. Again, this is a style reflective of a different era for Neely. Growing season differences notwithstanding, the 2018 checks in at 14.1% alcohol, nearly two full degrees higher than the 2021 tasted alongside. I prefer this edition, as it’s still finessed but has more stage presence and inner harmony. The ...

90 points Wine Spectator: "Polished in feel, with black cherry and mulberry flavors gliding through easily -- almost languidly -- while subtle anise and apple wood notes infuse the finish. (JM)" (03/2024)
Burghound: "An ultra-fresh and nicely ripe nose freely offers up its pretty aromas of mostly red pinot fruit and soft earth scents. The racy, delicious and attractively textured middleweight flavors conclude in a dusty and lightly austere finale. While this could be approached young, 2 to 5 years of keeping should round off the finish and develop more depth." (01/2024) Jasper Morris: "Plots on the sand for the most part. A bright purple. Lean, austere, fresh. Red berries with even a chocolate note behind. Drier finish but enough fruit. Ready to bottle....
This fantastic, elegant, very dry rosé is composed of 90% Mesnil Grand Cru Chardonnay and 10% red wine from Pinot Noir grown in the 1er cru of Vertus. The Gonet family has crafted a wonderful, crisp rosé that has the elusive strawberry fruit that fans of the subtle style of Champagne rosé cannot get enough of. This is an incredible deal at the price. - Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer

94 points Vinous: "An enticing blend of dried roses, peppery spice and woodland berries wafts up from the 2022 Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard. This is vividly fruit-focused yet crisp in feel, with tactile minerals adding a crunchy sensation as tart red and blue fruits swirl throughout. It tapers off youthfully tense, leaving a staining of primary concentration while silty tannins frame the experience well. (EG)" (05/2024) 93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2022 Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard pours a vibrant ruby/magenta color and is highly expressive in t...

Elisabeth Goutorbe and her husband Jean-Marie Egrot run their tiny production Champagne house almost entirely by themselves. They get very little help from their cat Maurice, but can rely on Elisabeth’s father, René Goutorbe of Champagne Henri Goutorbe for a little bit of help. Of the 15 acres they own in Aÿ, Louvois, Tauxieres and Mutigny, they only keep the fruit from their 2.5 best—mostly in Aÿ, but also a touch of Louvois Chardonnay for balance. This vintage wine is entirely Aÿ Grand Cru, 2/3 Pinot Noir and 1/3 Chardonnay. This cooler vintage, combin...

92-94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2022 Pinot Noir Seafarer showed beautifully, with a darker strawberry, plum, and mulberry-driven profile offering lots of cooler peppery herb, violet, and underbrush-like nuances. It's medium-bodied, silky, and elegant on the palate." (08/2023)
94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Ripe black cherries, fresh cut roses, wild strawberries, and spicy notes all emerge from the 2021 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills, another silky, seamless, impressive Pinot Noir from this team. It's a brilliant value in Pinot Noir that would whomp many a Premier Cru Burgundy. " (08/2023) 93 points Wine Advocate: "The 2021 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills is bursting with aromas of pomegranate, cranberry, blood orange, potpourri and underbrush. The palate is bright with freshness, dense with ripe tannin and fruit, yet captured at a point of real freshness. Generously juicy, followed by a long finish. (Panel Tasting)" (09/2023) 93 points Vinous: "The 2020 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills Cuvée is a terrific introduction to the range. 96 points Vinous: "The 2018 Pinot Noir is magnificent. Rich, deep and powerful, with tremendous resonance, the 2018 is positively stellar. A range of floral and savory notes develop in the glass, adding myriad layers of nuance in a Pinot that marries intensity with translucence. Sweet dark cherry, mint, sage, rose petal and blood orange build into the stunning finish. The 2018 is one of the very finest wines I have tasted from Mindego Ridge. The palate is a homage to the Burgundian style, emphasising minerality and florals, berry fruits, and savoury garrigue. Red and blue fruits intertwined with clove, thyme and pine tar carry this wine to a savoury, ...

The concentrated palate offers succulent fruit flavours with plush texture backed by beautifully melded tannins, finishing impressively long and soothing. 94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Jeweled ruby/magenta in color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Chehalem Mountain Vineyard is perfumed and floral on the nose, with fresh notes of ripe black raspberries, violets, sweet sage, fresh earth, and a hint of umami. The palate has a lot of purity and a crystalline, ripe feel, with a hint of delicate richness coming through. More red-fruited than the 2021, the inclusion of some Calera and Dijon clones gives it its textural component, and it has ripe tannins and a long finish. Drink 2025-2040. (AF)" (08/2024)

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Like many of Te Mata's 2020 reds, this young pup needs a little time to open if drinking now. Once it does, there're elegant aromas of cherry and blueberry fruit, violets and roses, ground black pepper, cloves and a slight meatiness in a well-tucked bed of mocha oak. Tangy red fruit on the silky palate is tightly wound by fine tannins and lifted by a crunch of acidity. A unique Pinot that bears the Te Mata stamp of place, polish, freshness and structure. 94 points Vinous: "The 2019 Pinot Noir Saint Rose a new wine in this lineup. The 2019 is a blend of the best barrels from Domaine de la Côte and La Encantada vineyards. Ripe red cherry, blood orange, spice, menthol and a good deal of savoriness from the 50% whole clusters are front and center. Pliant and creamy, the 2019 is so expressive today. A few years in bottle should help the tannins soften."

Henri Le Roy is a first generation winemaker who began his original career as a biologist in Paris. But after falling in love with Burgundy, he found that he did not possess Burgundy money — so he decided to look further east, to the Jura, where he saw similar potential, but a little more affordable lands to begin his second career in wine. His first vintage was 2005, and he has continued to evolve and grow as a winemaker for the past decade-plus. Henri prefers to make ouille-styled wines (topped off barrels), as opposed to the traditional oxidative, o...

Dusty spice, rose petals, ripe strawberry and hibiscus tea gently settle on the palate, finishing long, juicy and persistent, with a nip of super-fine tannin. It's a medium-bodied blend of 91% Chardonnay and only 9% Pinot Noir, showcasing the crisp, citrusy notes of an aged blanc de blancs after 46 months on the lees. It tastes richer than it does weighty, juxtaposing creamy, nutty notes against an elegant bead and sensation of lightness. I'd expect it to age gracefully under cork, gradually gaining weight and additional toas...

From K&L On the Trail blog: "Jean-Michel Giboulot took over the family business in 1982 and has put together one of the best bang-for-your-buck portfolios in all of Burgundy over the last three-plus decades. His wines from Burgundy's Savigny-lès-Beaune appellation are known as great values, and both the reds and whites are equally strong. Giboulot's wines straddle the line between traditional and modern, with reds that have crunchier fruit and fine tannins, but plenty of ripeness and purity. The whites are done in a feminine style with rounder fruit and ...
