94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The appellation 2018 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, which includes 4% Merlot, reveals a ruby/purple hue as well as brilliant notes of ripe cassis, darker currants, woodsmoke, graphite, and tobacco. Coming from a mix of sites and aged in 38% new French oak, it's flawlessly balanced, has ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's just another impeccably made wine from this talented team that's well worth your time and money. " (07/2022) 94 points Wine & Spirits: "This is, in a sense, the opposite of a showstopper. Boutique winery Vinoce continues to impress. Little surprise when you consider their wines are made by much-heralded winemaker Keith Emerson of Vineyard 29! Emerson crafts some of the most highly sought-after cult Cabs in the valley from St. Helena fruit at Vineyard 29, including wines rated at 100-points by Robert Parker himself. Considering that pedigree, Vinoce's St. Helena Cab is very well priced at the regular $60 SRP, but at our Insider's Advantage price of over 50% off, it's just plain ridiculous.

95 points The Wine Independent: "Pale to medium garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Melange Rouge has a profound nose of red and black cherries, violets, and dark chocolate with underlying licorice, Sichuan pepper, smoked meats, and tar. The medium to full-bodied palate is lively and vibrant - pop-rocks in your mouth - with lots of texture interest combining plush and chewy, and bright and lifted fruit leading to a peppery finish. The blend is 54% Syrah, 25% Grenache, 9% Graciano, 6% Petite Sirah, and 6% Viognier. The wine was fermented with 40% whole cluste...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "An estate-grown wine given 30% whole-cluster fermentation, this is a fleshy and lively red wine, broad in appeal and funky earthiness. Forest, black tea and spicy white pepper dominate a lighthearted palate of silky texture and elegance. (VB)" (11/2021) 91 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2018 Pinot Noir West Pole is outstanding as well as a notable value. Giving up lots of brambly herbs and stemmy nuances paired with a core of sweet raspberry and cherry fruits, it’s medium-bodied and has a rounded, elegant texture along with plenty...
94 points Wine Advocate: "94+ points "The top of the range here is the 2016 Futa Cabernet Sauvignon, from a specific plot from their vineyards in Marchigüe, and it is complemented with 14% Cabernet Franc. It fermented at a controlled temperature, never exceeding 24 degrees Celsius, with soft pumping over and matured in French barriques for 24 months. This has remarkable freshness and harmony. I've seen an improvement in the Cabernet Sauvignon from Calcu and Maquis, and this is a very good example of it. There is perfect ripeness and a notable absence of ...

94 points Descorchados : "Auténtico is from a selection of vineyards that Colomé has around its winery in the Colomé zone, some 2,300 meters above sea level. It was not barrel aged, just steel tanks and concrete eggs for 10 months, this shows the character or, better, Colomé's vision of its high-altitude terroir in the middle of the Andes. This is a wine full of ripe, red fruits, deep flavors, and dense textures accompanied by tense acidity that marks the character of this tremendous high-altitude wine." This is vividly fruit-focused yet crisp in feel, with tactile minerals adding a crunchy sensation as tart red and blue fruits swirl throughout. It tapers off youthfully tense, leaving a staining of primary concentration while silty tannins frame the experience well. Out East is a woman driven operation that works with producers and growers around the world to create sustainably driven, lifestyle friendly wines. The Hermitage was a collaboration with the Cave de Tain in Tain l'Hermitage, one of the region's most iconic producers. The fruit is 100% Syrah from mostly granitic soils, hand-harvested and matured in French oak. It is a bold and rich Syrah that has aromas of roasted plum, hoisin and fig jam. The palate is dense with flavors of blackcurrants, licorice, plum jam and baking spices. This wine is drinking b...

Refined texture and character with a delicious core of sweet berries and sweet spices to the flavorful finish. Try from 2025." (04/2024) K&L Notes: The Napa Valley sub-region of Atlas Peak, where the Guarachi Meadowrock Vineyard lies 1400 to 1760 feet elevation, has a coveted combination of volcanic soils, high intensity sunlight, and cool nighttime temperatures. 97 points Wine Enthusiast: "Winemaker Matt Dees is considered one of the best winemakers anywhere, and this blend is ample reason to believe the hype. Intense, focused and dry but rich aromas of dark fruit, roasted wood, crushed rocks and wild herb enliven the nose, while the palate is weighty yet expertly tense. Flavors of dried red fruit, peppery spice and milk chocolate float into the finish. These all carry over to the palate, where the wine is medium to full-bodied, has a deep, expansive, concentrated mouthfeel, velvety tannins, terrific mid-palate density, and a gorgeous finish. Like art in a bottle. Kent Humphrey created the Eric Kent winery as a celebration of art and craft. He sources fruit from some of Sonoma County's best vineyards and he partners with local Sonoma artists to feature their work in a sort of wine label gallery. Each wine Kent creates features a new and distinct piece of art. For Kent’s part, after pursuing a career in academia and advertising, he found a home in the wine cellar, and began working with vineyards he loves throughout Sonoma County. Tasting notes from the winery: "Our Small Town Pinot Noir got i...

A rare single vineyard Bien Nacido Vineyard bottling from the iconic Calera Wine Co. This very small bottling (typically only available to the winery's mailing list customers and at the tasting room) came from a single block of the original 1973-planted Chardonnay vines at Bien Nacido. These vines were recently pulled out and replanted meaning that this 2019 bottling is the final swan song for this storied parcel of vines. *Winery Direct*

94 points Wine & Spirits: "Small yields and moderate to warm weather result in a Mills that’s generous in 2018, with a richness that’s delicious and satisfying. Mike Waller has managed to retain a wild savor here that gives the wine completeness and intricacy, a complex spice of dust and herb oils, sundried tomato and an earthy, rooty depth, all woven seamlessly around the fruit. It should age beautifully. (PJC)" (04/2022) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Roasted cherry and juniper aromas give a rugged mountain angle to this bottling, but there's also splas...

92 points Vinous: "The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a powerful, old-school wine. Dark cherry, plum, scorched earth, game, licorice and tar give the 2018 plenty of complexity. Big, potent tannins lend quite a bit of muscle, but there is more than enough fruit and overall balance to support many years in the cellar. Dark red fruit, mint, spice and licorice linger. This is very nicely done. (AG) " (10/2021)

The finish is as big as everything else, with barbecue, iodine, and asphalt. Still a classic! This is a one of a kind dessert wine, but what else would you expect from a late harvest wine from the Canary islands? Harvested in November, fermented without any additions and then it goes into a solera aging system that is made from Allier French oak. The numbers are amazing for a dessert wine; 130 gm/L sugar, 8.8 g/L total acid and a pH of 3.3. Now the real question is what do all those numbers add up to? Delicious, plain and simple. Yes, it is sweet but it has an amazing amount of acid to balance all that sugar. It is also crazy complex. Tropica...

I compared the 2017 to a top Châteauneuf du Pape, and unquestionably, that comparison holds with the 2019 as well. This lovely little barrel of rye is one of the first single barrels from the beautiful Castle & Key distillery to make it to California.
