The wonderful Glengoyne distillery is always one to keep an eye. Built in 1833, it was sold by Archiball Macllelan to the Lang Brothers where it remained until 1965 when it was purchased by a predecessor organization to Edrington Group. In 2003, it was sold to blenders and bottlers Ian Macleod and they've rightfully made Glengoyne a worldwide brand. They're famous for their sherried malt and it's rare to see a butt make it out of their warehouses under anyone else's label. That's why we were so excited to see this pop up and when we tasted it we knew we ...

Old Potrero is a true pioneer of modern whiskey. 100% malted rye pot distilled single malt - being made in San Francisco starting in 1993. Bruce Joseph has been making the whiskies (and their other fun products) since day one and is still the master distiller today. This 17 year old cask strength bottling was aged for 24 month air dried fine grain new American oak - and it is a beast.

2005 Undisclosed Jamaica 17 Year Old "Golden Devil" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Jamaican Rum (700ml)
This phenomenal barrel of rum will forever be a mystery. Wild speculation exists about its source and the bottler has absolutely zero information from the source about its marque. Those circumstances are highly unusual considering the quality and character of the rum in question. But, if you notice similar batches out there, there are only a handful of distillers that could supply this rum. Worthy Park, we've had others from the vintage and they have always included the blenders marque. The distillery was only selling in bulk at the time and their stocks...

This exceptional find is one of the very best values K&L has ever been able to offer. Glenrothes is truly one of Speyside's most prized distillers, and its extremely unusual for them to let go of heavily sherried stocks, let alone something that's aged over 18 years. This one was distilled in February of 2005 and aged for 18 years in a first fill sherry butt. The results speak for themselves, a dense powerful malt style full of powerful spice and complex sherry. The Glenrothes Distillery was founded in the town of Rothes in 1879 by James Stuart & Co., ow...

The Old Malt Cask line of single cask single malts was created by the Laing brothers in 1998. They've since bottled countless legendary single malt and continue to surprise and delight connoisseurs with their diverse range of exceptionally selected single casks. Unlike K&L's Exclusive single casks, Old Malt Cask is traditionally bottled at 100 proof, but always without chillfiltration or coloring of any kind. The Laings selected a diverse range of malts to celebrate 25 years in the single cask business, picking out choice casks and bottling them in the g...

Very fine tannins. It goes on for minutes. Love. " (03/2023) 96 points Bob Campbell: "Lacking depth of colour but showing surprising power with flavours that suggest red cherry, floral/red rose and fresh herb flavours. Vibrant, high energy pinot noir that will mellow with bottle age. Elegant wine. *Five-Star Gold Rating* (BC)" (12/2023) K&L Notes: The Be...

95-97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A lush, sexy, forward beauty, the 2021 Heart Stone Vineyard is based on 31% Grenache, 28% Syrah, 21% Graciano, and the rest Mataro and Petite Sirah, with the blend shifting slightly due to replanting in the vineyard. As with all the ’21s here, it has a vivid purple hue as well as a great perfume of sweet red and blue fruits, spring flowers, ground pepper, and underbrush, but it’s on the palate where this beauty really shines. Layered, silky, and opulent, it’s not yet bottled, but my money is on this drinking nicely right out of...

A good nicely aged Mortlach is something we wish we could offer more readily. Make it stupidly drinkable and at an unbelievably generous price, and we’ll drop nearly everything else. This attractive little refill hogshead is a dreamy, offering malt driven style from the Beast of Dufftown. You can visit a bona fide Fairy Village in Dufftown these days or the famous Giant's Chair, but the wonderful distillery in the gully by the stream to the south of town is arguably the town's most magical spot. The Mortlach makes an extremely unique malt. The distillati...

Fritz Maytag, the visionary who ushered in the craft beer movement, is also responsible for a resurrection of pot distilled whiskey in America. Not satisfied with merely rescuing Anchor Brewing in 1965 and resuscitating its iconic steam beer, he expanded to spirits in 1993. Fritz established Anchor Distilling Company in the back of the beer brewery and propelled the return of pot-distilled whiskey to the United States. Inspired by the rye whiskeys being made at America’s founding and Scotland's finest single malts the San Francisco distillery on Potrero ...

Ledaig Single Malt is a cherished gem from the Hebridean Isles and comes from one of the oldest distilleries in all of Scotland. Produced on again, off again since its founding in 1798, and licensed since 1823, the Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull is known primarily for its two single malt marks. Tobermory, an unpeated dram and Ledaig, with its heavily peated characteristics. Both are widely regarded as malts of outstanding quality. Both malts owe their rich character to the unusual stills that lie at the heart of the distillery - bulbous stills ...

96-97 points Int'l Wine Review: "Light garnet red with amber/orange hues. Amazing, multifaceted bouquet of dried red cherry, fig, flowers, and Cretan wild herbs. A complex, savory wine of exceptional depth and refinement showing myriad flavor elements including dried cherry compote, herbs, and spice. A blend of the two top crus of Domaine Economou, Vassilikes and Pentalofos, both of which are near the village of Ziros itself. On average the vines of Laitiko are 90 years old with a touch of old vine Mandilari as well. A unique wine; compare with Nerello M...

98 points James Suckling: "This is a step up from the linear and fresh 2006. It shows subtle depth and power with a dense block of vivid fruit that's highlighted by lemon zest, green apples and hints of white peaches. Just the right amount of praline and nuts on the nose. The fine, tight bead provides a luxurious mouth feel. One for now or the cellar. Drink or hold." Camus is an underrated domaine with good grand cru holdings in Gevrey-Chambertin. It's existed, more or less, since 1732, but mostly after the phylloxera epidemic, when Joseph Camus purchased abandoned vineyards. The wines are not filtered, so you'll often find sediment, but this ensures that every iota of flavor from the grape makes it into the final wine. "The prices at this domaine are down-right reasonable, " according to the Burgundy Report.

Black cherry, graphite, sage, dried herbs, menthol, licorice and incense infuse the 2020 with tremendous complexity. Powerful but not overdone, the 2020 should evolve well for many years to come. First introduced more than a quarter of a century ago in 1997, Ardbeg 17 Years Old was one of the initial bottlings to emerge from the Distillery after a period of closure. This malt possessed a unique combination of delicacy and unmistakable Ardbeg character. It quickly captured the hearts of the Committee and set an extraordinary standard for the future of Ardbeg whisky production. When Ardbeg retired the 17 in 2004, no one expected that plans would quietly unfold for its triumphant return. Esteemed Master Distiller, Dr. Bill Lumsden, meticulously rec...

The late, legendary Didier Dagueneau was responsible for elevating the Sauvignon Blanc varietal into the cult collectible space with his truly singular Pouilly-Fumé masterpieces. Since his tragic death in 2008, his son Louis-Benjamin has capably shepherded the domaine into a new era, while holding steadfast to his father's uncompromising standards. For the 2021 vintage, a growing season ravaged by frost, Louis-Benjamin elected to bottle only a single cuvée rigorously selected from all his revered domaine parcels Pur Sang, Silex, and Buisson Renards.

Big and chewy, with plenty of fruit and tannins.--1982 Bordeaux horizontal. Best after 2000." (11/1998) Wine Advocate: "A solidly made effort, the 1982 Pontet Canet reveals some pink at the edge, but it remains a medium-bodied wine offering hints of menthol and red as well as black currants. I would give the 2019 at least a few years in bottle to settle down, as it is quite the powerhouse today. This is an unusually flamboyant wine with plenty of richness and a bit less in the way of subtlety. The opulence of the vintage comes through loud and clear. It's one of the bigger, richer wines in the vintage and has a gorgeous, thrilling, full-bodied style as well as notes of crème de cassis, tobacco leaf, violets, and chocolate. While many estates seem to be playing it safe and focusing on so-called elegance and balance, I love that Poyferré continues to make a ripe, sexy, beautifully textured wine that always offers more opulence and sexiness than most in the vi...
