This is a very delicious single barrel selection. The nose is pretty, sweet and complex. It is fun to sit back and enjoy smelling it. In the mouth, there are bright and tasty brown sugar flavors. It is sweet but balanced, concentrated but not heavy. With a little water, the wonderful flavor profile continues but it becomes a little more softer and easier to drink. There is a long finish.

Michel Arnould "La Grande Cuvée" Brut Champagne

A very good Champagne from a top producer. It is lively and balanced, with a nice juicy and soft mouth feel, a touch of fruit and nut flavors, and a mineral undertone. There is a clean and dry finish. It is easy to drink as well as complex and exciting. Michel Arnould has a long track record of producing high quality Champagnes and this cuvee is one more example of the skill of this producer.

This is a fantastic Bourbon that is a real treat. The nose has layers of depth and is really inviting. In the mouth it is big, full bodied, and complex, with a wonderful balanced sweetness that is pretty but is not too rich and dominating. With a few drops of water, the nose opens up and shows some drier aromas. The mouth opens up a little showing that this is a big, full bodied and concentrated Bourbon. I think that farm to bottle spirits are special and hope that people continue to make them.

This is a beautiful cask from Aberlour distillery. The nose is very interesting with bees wax and sherry notes. In the mouth ,it is elegant and balanced, with subtle dried fruit flavors from the sherry aging. With the addition of a little water, the nose is still very nice but is more expressive. In the mouth, the water seems to make this single malt more rich and juicy.

This selection is new and creative, adding a new direction for the world of whiskey. It is a blend of quality bourbon and rye with the addition of distilled botanicals. It works. The nose is expressive with the botanicals adding a wonderful dimension of floral and spicy aromas. In the mouth, the bourbon and rye work well together providing a focused and juicy whiskey. The botanical notes are integrated and balanced and really add something interesting to this whiskey. There is a very long and pleasing finish.

This a a nicely balanced peaty single malt. There is a wonderful interaction of smoke and subtle sweet malt aromas . In the mouth the sweet malt flavors come first with then nuanced smoke notes. With a touch of water, the nose is more complex and in the mouth the malt flavors are more pronounced.

This is a wonderful expression of Blair Athol. It is delicious but also interesting. The nose has delicate sweet malt notes that are inviting. In the mouth there are subtle malt and grain flavors. With a little water, the nose opens up and the flavors also become more pronounced. There is a nice mouth feel. One of the nice things about the Old Particular products are the tasting notes of the people who work at Douglas Laing. It is fun to contrast tasting notes. In this case, CSL tasted a richer, fuller bodied and spicy single cask than did I.

I like younger single malts sometimes because they can be so expressive. The Caol Ila 8 is just that type of delicious younger single malt. The nose is pronounced with smoke and hints of sea. In the mouth, there is the smoke influence but also nice sweet and juicy flavors. There is a long finish. With a little water, there is basically the same flavor profile but it is just a little bit softer.

I like this one a lot. It is tasty and enjoyable. The nose is fresh and lively with sweet malt aromas. In the mouth, it is complex with sweet flavors and subtle savory undertones. They work well together. With a little water, sweet aromas are more expressive. The flavor profile is the same as above but a little softer.

In the mouth, the sweet malt flavors become more pronounced and the dry grain like flavors more subtle.

The nose has smoke and then sweet aromas. In the mouth, there are smoke and malt flavors integrated with a touch of elegance. With water, both the nose and mouth open up and become a little more subtle.

This is a really good single malt for fans of smoke aromas. But it is much more that. In the nose, smoke dominates but there is much more going on with secondary aromas that are sweet and savory. In the mouth there is a nice mouth feel and it is rich and some what juicy. There is a long finish. This Ardbeg hits all of the notes and should provide a wonderful drinking experience.

This Michel Couvreur Malt Whiskey is a perfect marriage of smoke and sherry aged spirit. It is balanced and not heavy, with the sherry aging adding a kiss of influence, but not dominating the spirit,creating a well integrated whole. There are a nice amount of smoke aromas with subtle sweet undertones and a nice long finish. On top of this it is complex and will surprise and delight.
