2018 Château de la Charrière Pommard "Les Vignots"
Review Date: 01-23-2021
Chateau de la Charriere is another classic example of the value our direct importing program provides. The Pommard "Les Vignots" exudes pure class from a second generation winemaker, who took over the family business after coming home from Oenology school. Fruit from 60 year old vines are 100% destemmed, gently fermented, and aged in 30% new French oak for 12 months. The result is classic Burgundy. A mix of red and black fruits, both juicy, and tart. Subtle mushroom, roasting herbs, and earth give way to elegant acidity that keeps you coming back to the wine time and time again. Find an old Burgundy cookbook from the 80's and pair this with anything in the book.
