2021 Cantina Bonelli Ortrugo dei Colli Piacentini
Review Date: 07-05-2023
This is 100% Ortrugo a varietal that is not commonly known. It is an Italian wine grape that is grown in the Piacenza hills of Emilia-Romagna region in north central Italy. It is often blended with Malvasia and more used to make sparkling frizzante or fully sparkling spumante wines. The nose on this is tropical and floral, and the fruit is star fruit, papaya and pineapple. The acid is medium and there is a textural component that lingers and leave a light layer of tannin. Refreshing to drink solo no parings needed here.
2021 Alessandro di Camporeale "Benede" Cataratto
Review Date: 07-05-2023
The Benede Catarratto has a vibrant nose. The freshness of youthfulness comes across in a lemon and passionfruit, with some wet stones and saline. This is a classic styled Catarratto finishing with bright acidity, citrus notes and saline finish. Super delightful to drink.

$21.99
2020 Emiliano Falsini Feudo Pignatone Etna Rosso
Review Date: 05-27-2023
The Feudo Pignatone (In front of the House) savory aromatics and spiced cranberry is what attracts me to this wine the most. Herbs of oregano, dried rose petals and a mild fruit skin grip in the mid makes this a wine you would want to savor because the finish is so lengthy. Emiliano only produced 1000 bottles of this one so get it while you can, cellar and enjoy.
Price:
$49.99
2019 Yves Cuilleron "La Petite Côte" Condrieu
Review Date: 05-26-2023
The mineral granite nose on this 2019 Cuilleron is out of this world good. Candied lemon ginger jam, hints of spiced marmalade. This is lean but oh so mouth fulling. Another one to cellar.
Price:
$59.99
2020 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave St-Joseph
Review Date: 05-26-2023
The 2020 Chave St. Joseph has vibrant aromatics of granite soils, dried cherry boldness hints of allspice and clove spices. This is a lot of wine and the richness displayed warrants the price. It has a beautiful mouthfeel of pretty dark fruits, leather, cedar and a touch smoked meat. A one to cellar.
Price:
$119.99
2017 Torre Zambra "Colle Maggio"Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva
Review Date: 05-26-2023
Where the The Zambra Montepulciano comes across lifted in the aromatic category and the Kriya has inviting aromatics of a black cherry, blackberry hints of mocha and cloves. The 2017 Riserva shows a wider range and deepened savory aromatics of Indian spices; cumin, coriander, cloves, cardamom, ginger, mustard seed, turmeric and saffron. Hints of bitter chocolate, dried cherries and rose petals and a strong presence of cassis. This is a matured bottling and still under $30.00 this is a steal of a deal. Go big on the food parings with this one, you will not be disappointed.
2020 Torre Zambra "Madia" Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
Review Date: 05-26-2023
The Zambra Montepulciano comes across lifted in the aromatic category. There is depth of richness that shows up more than the Krin. Still keeping in the theme of dark berries such as black cherry, cassis in addition to cola, cloves like spices. The tannins are firmer, grainer yet soft with upfront stone like minerality. There is a hit of brickish dust on the nose. Overall for a 15.99 Montepulciano this really delivers with lengthy, chewy and firmness in the finish and one to pair with braised meats and hearty sauced meals.
2021 Vigna Madre "Kriya" Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
Review Date: 05-26-2023
The Kriya has inviting aromatics of a black cherry, blackberry hints of mocha and cloves. The mouthfeel is soft and savory yet finishing lengthily with mild tannins. A perfect week night red to have with an simplistic dinner such as eggplant parmesan.
Price:
$14.99
2020 Lapilli Aglianico Benevantano
Review Date: 04-30-2023
The Lapilli Aglianico has all the Mediterranean herb aromatics on the nose, mint, laurel, oregano, thyme, rosemary, dill, sage, marjoram, fennel, and chervil. There is a savory tone but the fruit lives in the dried cranberry, figs, currants, red apple and plums. The finish is fresh and not overly firm in tannins. If you are just starting out drinking Aglianico then this is a great introduction to the very complex varietal.
Price:
$14.99
2020 Lapilli Fiano d'Avellino
Review Date: 04-30-2023
The Lapilli Fiano di Avellino has an exceptionally elegant nose. This a first I've seen this producer on our shelves it is very fitting new addition to the Italian white wine category. There's crystalized ginger, hazelnut butter, pear tart, salty minerality, beeswax and a textured feel in the mouthfeel. Finishing dry and long, this overdelivers in the Fiano offerings.

$14.99
2018 La Massa "Carla 6" Toscana
Review Date: 04-28-2023
This is a sultry Toscana. The weight is light but the flavors and length are noticeably sizable. Savory flavors of red berries and herbs from start to finish on this beauty. A definite cellaring wine easily to be even more enjoyable 8 plus years from now.
2010 Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé Champagne
Review Date: 04-28-2023
This splendid 2010 Billecart Brut Rose is a stunner to drink. Compressed red berries of wild strawberry, savory craisins, and dried plums. The nose gives a fragment of dried rose petals florals and hibiscus tea. I can't say how much I loved drinking this Champagne. I recommend buying a couple of bottles and laying this beauty down and revisit it in 10 years.
Price:
$119.99
2008 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart" NFB Brut Champagne
Review Date: 04-28-2023
Love the precision of the 2008 vintage Champagnes. This has to be in my top 5 and the best example of a stunning vintage. The aromatics are loads of mixed bowl of wild berries, candied ginger, almond butter sugar cookies and a slight oxidative end. This is exciting to drink now but I can also imagine this being even more exciting to open in the next 5 years of cellaring.
Charles Ellner "Premier Cru" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 04-28-2023
This is just as delicious as the other Champagnes that fall in this "Premier Cru" category and more affordable. There is a minerally, aromatic lees, apple core snappiness to this that is astonishingly satisfying if you love a little SNAP to your bubbles.

Trudon "Rosephile" Brut Rosé Champagne
Review Date: 04-28-2023
The nose on the "Rosephile" reminds me of cherry nougat almond cookies. There is a touch of a savory rosemary oil in the mid and a skin contact grip that that stands out. This is a great champagne for a elaborate charcuterie board.
Price:
$39.99
Trudon "Cuvée Magnificence" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 04-28-2023
The Trudon "Cuvee Magnificence" displays more layers, with a creamy almond butter on the nose in addition to stone fruit and mixed florals. This is a stand out of the bunch and the most complex.
Price:
$59.99
Trudon "Emblematis" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 04-28-2023
Trudon Emblematis has a lovely tart green apple flavor profile blended and a yeast as well as button mushroom aroma. It lays on the palate with ample length but also finishes with a touch of sweet brioche. Quite enjoyable and a steal of a complex champagne at this price.
2018 Proelio "Vinedos Viejos" Garnacha Rioja
Review Date: 04-27-2023
Lengthiness on the nose of dark minerals and dried cranberry. Balsamic and dried roses. This is a delicious easy drinking young Rioja perfect for mid-week wine drinking enjoyment.
2018 La Massa "Giorgio Primo" Toscana
Review Date: 04-27-2023
The silkiness on the nose combined with the velvety dark fruit on the palate makes this a stunner wine for those looking for plushness. The tannins are very subtle, the fruit is very up front, layered with savory herbed oils. This is a perfect match for stewed pot roast and roasted root vegetables.
2019 Domaine FL "Chamboureau" Savennières
Review Date: 04-21-2023
If the gleam from the color this Chenin Blanc shows doesn't draw inner excitement the aromatics and flavor is sure too evoke it! The nose is honeycomb, Crispin apples, seashells and marine breezes. Fresh lemon verbena, rosemary oil, flint and salt are combined beautifully and matching the mouthfeel profile along with abundant textures, this wine is a charmer. This Savennieres is certainly and simply utterly delicious juice, easy drinking and perfect for the upcoming warm weather. Don't miss out and grab a bottle or bottles before its gone.

2018 Melipal "Ikella" Lujan De Cuyo Malbec
Review Date: 03-30-2023
The Melipal Malbec reveals a brightness and freshness on the nose. Displaying ripe red melon, lush red cherry, strawberry, and raspberry aromatics in flowing with florals of star jasmine, violets, and clove like spices. The lingering red fruited mouthfeel delivers a burst of forward vigor that makes this extremely easy and satisfyingly to drink on any given day. The price point is undeniably friendly, but the wine is also exceptionally tasty.
2019 Foradori "Granato" Teroldego Vigneti delle Dolomiti
Review Date: 03-10-2023
“Granato” Displays an appealing nose of black cherry, currants and wild berries. The sweet and sour aromas blend together indicating there is skin structure present. The hints of savory alpine herbs of wild thyme, elder flowers and dried violets are expressive together with the soft tannins here. There is a silky presentation of fine lingering flavors in addition to the fresh acidity. This is a lively wine with brisk, fleshy fruit that has a long life in the cellar if collecting.
“Granato” – Means garnet in Italian but also references to the pomegranate fruit of Mediterranean origin.
2018 Artazu "Pasos de San Martín" Navarra
Review Date: 02-11-2023
Exotic spiced box aromatics, bramble berries, dark cherry and chewy tannins. This is a mouthful of a wine with a long and substantial finish. There is a sweet tea note but restraint on the oak that is excitingly enjoyable. I am loving the grip and length this is giving, all I can say is roasted succulent pig would be a delicious match with yummy juice.
Damien Hugot Rosé Extra Brut Champagne
Review Date: 01-21-2023
Another winner from the K & L's direct import Champagne line-up! Easy to enjoy on its own with its freshness of red berries, med sized bubbles and lush extra dry finish. This is a delicious and lengthily blend that is easy to sip solo but can stand up to petite appetizers also.
Price:
$39.99
2019 Domaine Dugois "En Grevellière" Trousseau Arbois Rouge
Review Date: 01-21-2023
The herbal nose from the Trousseau is quite delightful. There is sour cherry and sage brush to fold in the aromatics and a earthy not to overly tannic finish. This is a enjoyable wine just to sip on its own. Just juicy, fresh berries and bright. Yum!
Price:
$19.99
2017 Domaine des Carlines "Voile de Chardonnay" Côtes du Jura
Review Date: 01-21-2023
100% Chardonnay expressing aromatics of reduction and bloomed yeast with an oxidative back end. Crispin and golden delicious apple comes across as lush and lively with a hint of brown pear, under ripe tropical fruit, candied lemon, toast and dry yet textured mouthfeel. For the age this is still very youthful and can age even longer if one should choose to do so.

2018 Domaine des Carlines "Gaillardon" Chardonnay-Savagnin Côtes du Jura Blanc
Review Date: 01-20-2023
50% Chardonnay and 50% Savagnin blend. Bright toasty biscuit nose, saline along with a sizable amount of minerality on the palate. Sherry like yet clean with length and textural mouthfeel, the addition of tannin is hugely enjoyable. Another paring that would be delicious with chicken or root vegetable curries.

2019 Domaine des Carlines "La Vouivre" Chardonnay-Savagnin Côtes du Jura
Review Date: 01-20-2023
Clear aromas of flor from this 70% Chardonnay, 30% Savagnin blend. Cantaloupe melon, white florals, touch citrusy middle and nutty core. The texture is noticeably richer and longer in the finish with hints of ginger and subtle chewiness. I can imagine this would be enjoyable with grilled chicken satay and peanut sauce.
Louis Roederer "Collection 242" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 09-30-2022
Louis Roederer Collection 242 is a gorgeous Champagne. The aromatics on this is more than one could expect but would not be surprised at. So many layers of orchard fruit and tropical fruit. Combined with petite bubbles, this drinks like a fine wine. Finishes dry and with some much dimension, an absolute reliable champagne that is sure to please any connoisseur.
Laurent-Perrier "La Cuvée" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 09-30-2022
Laurent Perrier La Cuvee is a timeless Champagne that delivers wonderful flavors thru and thru. Crisp green apple, D ’Anjou pear, baked into a buttery tart garnished with candied ginger bits. There is a charming texture and flintiness that makes this a unique Champagne that is consistent and genuine.
Baron-Fuenté "Esprit" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 09-30-2022
Baron Fuente Esprit has a fascinating nose of yellow cherry, candied ginger interwoven with pink peppercorns in combination with hints of tropical citrus. The finish is bright and zippy, lifted with length in the finish. This is a perfect champagne to have at the start of a meal but can also go with plateau de fruits de mer.
Billecart-Salmon "Brut Réserve" Champagne
Review Date: 09-28-2022
The Brut reserve is such an enjoyable Champagne for everyday drinking. Full of bright, fresh flavors and satisfying textures makes this just a mouthful of deliciousness. The tastes of yellow apple, flint, black peppercorn is all so enjoyable. Drink, enjoy, repeat.
Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé Champagne
Review Date: 09-28-2022
This is as delicious as I have always remembered. Wild strawberry tartness, juicy peach, hibiscus petals florals, and finishing with a soft mousse of red berries. There is a reason this is our top-selling rose Champagne it is just so delightful to drink.
2014 Alexandre Le Brun "Cuvée Revelation" Extra Brut Champagne
Review Date: 09-28-2022
Alexander Le Brun’s “Cuvee Revelation” Champagne is full of succulence and complexity. The tastes in this vintage have superseded the previous vintages in showcasing a wider range of numerous varieties of pear and apple. The bright zippy acidity combined with mini wisps of spiced ginger, flinty smokiness is situated so perfectly and refined. Overwhelmingly the nose matches up with the mouthfeel and finish in harmony. The true “revelation” here is the price, for such great quality this delivers in abundance.

Baron-Fuenté "Esprit" Brut Nature Champagne
Review Date: 09-28-2022
There is a distinctive pause in aromatics from this Baron-Fuente “Brut Nature.” The slight oxidative flor like yeastiness is excellently noticeable. But then the addition of sweet ginger, apple, orchard fruit and lemon zest come across pleasantly together with hints of nuttiness. Still finishes dry with little graceful bubbles on the palate this is a real star of a Champagne. Yummy and delicate and for the price, makes this a sensation to experience.
Baron-Fuenté "Esprit" Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne
Review Date: 09-28-2022
The “Esprit” Blanc de Blancs offers a wonderful yeasty, flinty, citrus driven Champagne for under $40. There is so much character and complexity on the nose and mouthfeel, you’d expect this to be a short in the finish, but it is lengthy and zippy. Perfect for flavorful cheeses, pastries filled with custards or pastry cream and even shellfish ceviche’s. This Blanc de Blancs is such an adaptable champagne I suggest having this around for any occasion.
Baron-Fuenté "Grande Réserve" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 09-28-2022
This has a lovely freshness to it that blends flavors of citrus, under-ripe tropical fruit, and dried ginger in the finish. This is mostly Pinot Meunier has enticing florals and for me this is a special cuvee that lends a cherry note that is delightfully playful on the palate. Finishing dry overall, and a great aperitive for the beginning of a meal or a toast.

Alexandre Le Brun Cuvee Number 1 Brut Champagne is stunning! This is an oaked aged Champagne with Chardonnay, Pinot and Meunier. It has a nice amount of Flor like you would find in sherry with the lovely combination with apple and stone fruited notes. Fortuna Sour Mash Small Batch (9/2022) Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (750ml)
Review Date: 09-23-2022
Fortuna Sour Mash Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey aromas are reminiscent of spirits enjoyable in the autumn and fall seasons. An upfront nose of maple, praline, candied apricot, and apples in a buttery tart lightly dusted with fennel pollen. Displays roundness in the fore front and along the cheek then on the backend and finish there are hints of pink peppercorns giving this a lovely spice element. There is certainly a mouthful of flavors that fit together equally, and you can unquestionably taste quality and precision that the Rare Character’s team intended in this bottling. Enjoy as a sipper preferably on the couch watching your favorite fall movie, mine would be Knives Out. Cheers!

Gin Mare Mediterranean Gin (750ml)
Review Date: 06-12-2022
A distinct nose of green olives, dried herbs, and savory spices. White pepper comes into the picture on the back end of the aromatics. The palate carries a surprising sweetness of candied citrus in addition to a nice round oiliness in the finish. Two simple cocktails I can imagine this with, one is a topping of the fever tree Mediterranean tonic and a slice of lime or a classic gin martini with three Castelvetrano olives for the garnish, absolutely delightful enjoyment!

Gin Mare "Capri" Limited Edition Mediterranean Gin (700ml)
Review Date: 06-12-2022
Capri lemons originally from the middle east but made its way to Italy’s Republic of Amalfi and these lemons are enormous. There the Capri lemon is a fixture for almost all culinary preparations and alcoholic enjoyments such as limoncello but perhaps most famous is the refreshing crushed granitas. This Mediterranean Gin takes on a that bright fresh sweet citrus nose delicate saltiness with a waxy backend. This a scrumptious Gin, that’s perfectly sweet and bright on the taste. I picture myself lolling by the pool in delight and this on the rocks or up, very chilled with a Capri lemon twist, the only superb way to enjoy this limited edition Mediterranean gin.

2018 Ordaz Family Wines "Montecillo Vineyard" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 05-19-2022
The Ordaz family single vineyard Monticello Cabernet is a sure labor of love for Jesus “Chuy” Ordaz - farmed by hand since in his teens and now he is passing down the traditions to his son Eppi Ordaz. The aromas are inviting and sultry of tailored suede and earth. On the savory side of spices there are cloves, star anise and bakers’ dark chocolate, all rising to the surface. I tasted this in a group setting and unanimously we were all blown away by the purity of the wine when compared to its counter parts at a higher price point. Stock up and cellar this wine for 5 to 8 years, you will not be disappointed by the evolution.

2008 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvée Louis" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Review Date: 05-04-2022
There is a sultry subtleness to this 2008 Billecart “Cuvee Louis” Blanc de Blancs. An abundance of exotic florals like white lilies, white Irises, and poppies come to mind. This is showing bright and lifted citruses, but Meyer lemon stands out the most, including Anjou pear, and a sprinkle of ginger, intertwined with gentle anise spice. In the end, there is a touch of white cherry and a lovely grippy finish. This is a beautiful Champagne-to cellar for 2-3 more years, but I couldn’t help to imagine how tasty this would also be with Kusshi oysters, the creamier the better for this Champagne.
Four Pillars "Faultline" K&L Exclusive Australian Gin (750ml)
Review Date: 04-02-2022

Brockmans Gin (750ml)
Review Date: 04-02-2022
I actually like this gin. It is not the conventional kind most would look for, there is a melon, peach, strawberry profile to it that most would not expect. I would easily enjoy this in a flavored tonic and a blood-orange wedge by the pool or at the beach. This would make a refreshing cocktail and would be a good gin to introduce to someone that is not regularly a gin drinker.

Bruichladdich "Botanist" Gin (750ml)
Review Date: 04-02-2022
This is by far my favorite Gin for martinis. The botanicals are well measured so that one does not overpower any of the others. Bright lemon, a touch of seaweed, and a whisper of moss. The finish is clean and perfect for enjoying stirred and garnished with a lemon twist.

2019 Pavillon de La Reine, Pauillac
Review Date: 03-26-2022
When it comes to Bordeaux I tend to prefer the right bank but this left-bank has all the qualities that occupy my taste buds in the complex and delectable category. Cassis, dried blueberry, baker's chocolate, slight fresh raspberry and menthol. There is a mid palate lightness that is unexpected yet delightful. For the price this is a steal. Buy some and cellar but do enjoy this with a dry aged prime rib roast and all its fixings, sure to be a stunning pairing.
