2021 T Berkley "Ophelia" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Franc
Review Date: 11-17-2024
The T Berkley "Ophelia" has a substantial nose of luscious berries, black cherry, and dried figs. The savory herbal bundles of culinary herbs are delightfully expressed, making this Cabernet Franc from Sonoma County a perfect food-paring wine for all the offerings presented at the Thanksgiving table.

Fallet-Dart "Clos du Mont" Brut Champagne (2006)
Review Date: 11-17-2024
2006 Fallet Clos Du Mont has an expressive nose. There is a luscious presence of brioche, almond paste, and an orchard fruit tart. The taste is just as concentrated as the nose—adding substantial texture, weightiness, and filling length on all edges of the mouth. There is a slightly sweet flavor of apricot and almond scones, but the acidity is right behind with remarkable and endless flavor. The beads are small and graceful. This is pleasurable champagne to enjoy with savory dishes or a cheese course.

Pierre Paillard "Les Parcelles" Grand Cru Extra Brut Bouzy Champagne
Review Date: 10-31-2024
The color takes on straw yellow but you can see a hue of pink. The aromas are of red Bartlett pear, caramelized ginger, pink grapefruit, clementine, plum tart and toasted sesame seeds, all expressed in a harmonious way. The mouthfeel is elegant and brimming with substantial minerality, chalk and medium plus acidity. For the price this over achieves in its category and over-exceeds in flavor. Enjoy with lump crab cakes with a drizzle of saffron aioli.
Maison Laudacius "Laudacius" Brut Nature Montlouis Methode Traditionnnelle
Review Date: 09-13-2024
Laudacius Brut Nature is my kind of "sans soufre," sparkling wine. All Chenin Blanc no added sulfur and spent a year on the lees, gaining a lusciously, tropical, fleshy stone fruited character on the nose. The balance of textures combined with chalky minerality brings this up the ladder to being my new favorite. This sparkler will not be around for long so grab 2 or more and enjoy this wonderfully priced and pleasure filled Montlouis sparkling Chenin Blanc.
2022 Ridge Vineyards "Geyserville" Alexander Valley Zinfandel
Review Date: 08-13-2024
The "22 Geyserville has a cheerful nose of plums, dried figs and currants together with hints of savory herbs and chai spices on the nose. All around tasty mouthfeel with berries and soft tannins. This vintage tastes lively, vibrant, lengthy. This is perfect for everyday enjoyment. Drink now!
2014 Baron-Fuenté "Grand Millesime" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 08-10-2024
2014 Baron Fuente shows a beautiful golden kiwi color that reflects enchantingly in the glass. The nose has a caramelized pineapple, sweet ginger and passion fruit aroma with hints of toasted challah bread. The length and lingering mid-palate finish is seductively satisfying, keeps you wanting more. A blend of 45% Chardonnay, 40% Meunier and 15% Pinot Noir and entirely estate grown. This is Champagne drinkers keeper. Purchasing more than one and cellaring would be my recommendation for this yummy delectable Champagne.
2017 Il Paradiso di Frassina "Moz Art Wine" Brunello di Montalcino
Review Date: 07-04-2024
The 2017 Il Paradiso draws me in from the start from its classic Brunello aromatics. There is a mixture of dried red berries, bundled poultry herbs, blood orange zest, and iron-rich dusty soil. The mouthfeel is mildly grippy, savory, and fresh. There is a good amount of round acidity and weighty texture. The profile of this wine leans towards what you would need for long-term aging. But you can buy and hold for this upcoming Thanksgiving dinner just be sure to decant for 2-3 hours before the start of the main course.
2022 Tour Leognan Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
Review Date: 06-20-2024
This white Bordeaux has a beautifully aromatic nose, dried mango, passion fruit wet graveled stones. Round mouthfeel but balanced on the crisp yet juicy finish. The white peach and candied ginger lingers superbly. This is a deliciously priced wine that is also scrumptious to drink.

Fallet-Dart "Cuvée de Réserve" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 06-15-2024
I have always been a huge fan of Pinot Meunier heavy Champagnes, this one has a delightful nose of sweet pastry dough caramelized peaches the Pinot Noir aromas come in with wild strawberry and blood orange. The yeasty nose stands out as being aged on the lees for a lengthy four years. This is a food champagne paired with roasted bone in pork chop and herbed farro with lemon zest.

Michel Arnould "La Grande Cuvée" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 06-14-2024
Gary recently opened this for the staff tasting and I can see why this is an all around K & L favorite. The flavor profile and quality of this nonvintage Champagne is truly expressive of Michel Arnould's style. Yeasty, brioche nose, slight addition of flint, this is a fantastic champagne with delicate beads that rests delightfully on the palate. The toasty notes are balanced and does not come off as rich or overwhelming, fruit profile of ripe nectarine, yellow apple and tart apricot, ending with hints of passion fruit and Capri lemons match the aromatics on the nose. The balance of the acidity makes this such a complete and refreshingly crisp, easy to enjoy for all champagne drinkers, champagne.

Moncuit-Delos Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Review Date: 06-06-2024
This is a great treat for us to have on our shelves and hands down one of my favorite grower Champagne houses. Since 1977, Nicole Moncuit, mostly involved in the vitculture and vinification side, while her brother Yves runs the commercial side of the business. Today, they are joined by Nicole's daughter Valerie. This all estate bottled-estate grown chardonnay from Grand Cru vineyards in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, smells of granny-smith apples, D'Anjou pears, ginger and yellow tea. The mouthfeel is delightful adding a racy minerality and very fine bubbles in its long and lengthy finish.
Damien Hugot Grand Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Review Date: 02-10-2024
This is fresh bright fruit and slightly salted grower Champagne. It is always a crowd pleaser especially with devoted Champagne drinkers. Candied ginger, spiced apple and pear brioche, finishing dry, extensive and over delivering at this price point.

Petiau Brut Grande Réserve Champagne
Review Date: 02-08-2024
This is a newer grower champagne house just picked up by our buyer last year, it is exceptionally drinkable and such a sweet price point I hope we can keep this included in our set for a while. The perfect balance of apples, pears and melon and just enough tartness and minerality for an aperitive Champagne. Small beads and an amazingly long finish.

2019 Le Cinciole "Petresco" Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT
Review Date: 01-25-2024
This version Le Cinciole "Petresco" single vineyard Sangiovese leans towards a concentrated nose of dried wild strawberries, plums, prune and cranberry preserves. The color when at an angle in the glass shows a rustic burgundy brick hue that I find to be very attractive. There is an herbal element to this wine that is of dried rosemary, thyme combined with cloves and tea leaf. Very textural mouthfeel and grainy tannins leaves me want to decant this ahead of time and enjoy with some wild boar ragout or slow roasted leg of lamb packed with Italian herbs over a bead of farro.

2022 Sclavos "Vino di Sasso" Robola of Cephalonia Greece
Review Date: 01-14-2024
The Sclavos winery sure did hit it on the nail with this delicious Robola. You can tell they are this the home of this volcanic soiled grown variety. Notes of sun ripened citrus fruits mingling with stone fruits of apricots and under-ripe mango hits on the nose. Loving the saline and textural mouthfeel this is giving and the length this has makes this a memorable wine in its own category. A must to enjoy with any dish that has fresh seasonal ingredients that come from the sea and garden.

2008 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart" NFB Brut Champagne
Review Date: 04-28-2023
Love the precision of the 2008 vintage Champagnes. This has to be in my top 5 and the best example of a stunning vintage. The aromatics are loads of mixed bowl of wild berries, candied ginger, almond butter sugar cookies and a slight oxidative end. This is exciting to drink now but I can also imagine this being even more exciting to open in the next 5 years of cellaring.
2019 Domaine FL "Chamboureau" Savennières
Review Date: 04-21-2023
If the gleam from the color this Chenin Blanc shows doesn't draw inner excitement the aromatics and flavor is sure too evoke it! The nose is honeycomb, Crispin apples, seashells and marine breezes. Fresh lemon verbena, rosemary oil, flint and salt are combined beautifully and matching the mouthfeel profile along with abundant textures, this wine is a charmer. This Savennieres is certainly and simply utterly delicious juice, easy drinking and perfect for the upcoming warm weather. Don't miss out and grab a bottle or bottles before its gone.

Damien Hugot Rosé Extra Brut Champagne
Review Date: 01-21-2023
Another winner from the K & L's direct import Champagne line-up! Easy to enjoy on its own with its freshness of red berries, med sized bubbles and lush extra dry finish. This is a delicious and lengthily blend that is easy to sip solo but can stand up to petite appetizers also.
Louis Roederer "Collection 242" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 09-30-2022
Louis Roederer Collection 242 is a gorgeous Champagne. The aromatics on this is more than one could expect but would not be surprised at. So many layers of orchard fruit and tropical fruit. Combined with petite bubbles, this drinks like a fine wine. Finishes dry and with some much dimension, an absolute reliable champagne that is sure to please any connoisseur.
Laurent-Perrier "La Cuvée" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 09-30-2022
Laurent Perrier La Cuvee is a timeless Champagne that delivers wonderful flavors thru and thru. Crisp green apple, D ’Anjou pear, baked into a buttery tart garnished with candied ginger bits. There is a charming texture and flintiness that makes this a unique Champagne that is consistent and genuine.
Billecart-Salmon "Brut Réserve" Champagne
Review Date: 09-28-2022
The Brut reserve is such an enjoyable Champagne for everyday drinking. Full of bright, fresh flavors and satisfying textures makes this just a mouthful of deliciousness. The tastes of yellow apple, flint, black peppercorn is all so enjoyable. Drink, enjoy, repeat.
Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé Champagne
Review Date: 09-28-2022
This is as delicious as I have always remembered. Wild strawberry tartness, juicy peach, hibiscus petals florals, and finishing with a soft mousse of red berries. There is a reason this is our top-selling rose Champagne it is just so delightful to drink.
Alexandre Le Brun "Cuvée Number 1" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 09-24-2022
Alexandre Le Brun Cuvee Number 1 Brut Champagne is stunning! This is an oaked aged Champagne with Chardonnay, Pinot and Meunier. It has a nice amount of Flor like you would find in sherry with the lovely combination with apple and stone fruited notes. The mouthfeel is full and robust, making this perfect for foods seasoned with exotic spices. This a great one to cellar but exceptionally enjoyable for the knowledgeable Champagne drinker.

Fortuna Sour Mash Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (750ml)
Review Date: 09-23-2022
Fortuna Sour Mash Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey aromas are reminiscent of spirits enjoyable in the autumn and fall seasons. An upfront nose of maple, praline, candied apricot, and apples in a buttery tart lightly dusted with fennel pollen. Displays roundness in the fore front and along the cheek then on the backend and finish there are hints of pink peppercorns giving this a lovely spice element. There is certainly a mouthful of flavors that fit together equally, and you can unquestionably taste quality and precision that the Rare Character’s team intended in this bottling. Enjoy as a sipper preferably on the couch watching your favorite fall movie, mine would be Knives Out. Cheers!

Gin Mare Mediterranean Gin (750ml)
Review Date: 06-12-2022
A distinct nose of green olives, dried herbs, and savory spices. White pepper comes into the picture on the back end of the aromatics. The palate carries a surprising sweetness of candied citrus in addition to a nice round oiliness in the finish. Two simple cocktails I can imagine this with, one is a topping of the fever tree Mediterranean tonic and a slice of lime or a classic gin martini with three Castelvetrano olives for the garnish, absolutely delightful enjoyment!

Gin Mare "Capri" Limited Edition Mediterranean Gin (700ml)
Review Date: 06-12-2022
Capri lemons originally from the middle east but made its way to Italy’s Republic of Amalfi and these lemons are enormous. There the Capri lemon is a fixture for almost all culinary preparations and alcoholic enjoyments such as limoncello but perhaps most famous is the refreshing crushed granitas. This Mediterranean Gin takes on a that bright fresh sweet citrus nose delicate saltiness with a waxy backend. This a scrumptious Gin, that’s perfectly sweet and bright on the taste. I picture myself lolling by the pool in delight and this on the rocks or up, very chilled with a Capri lemon twist, the only superb way to enjoy this limited edition Mediterranean gin.

Pierre Mineral Mesnil "Vieillie En Fût" Grand Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Review Date: 05-04-2022

2008 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvée Louis" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Review Date: 05-04-2022
There is a sultry subtleness to this 2008 Billecart “Cuvee Louis” Blanc de Blancs. An abundance of exotic florals like white lilies, white Irises, and poppies come to mind. This is showing bright and lifted citruses, but Meyer lemon stands out the most, including Anjou pear, and a sprinkle of ginger, intertwined with gentle anise spice. In the end, there is a touch of white cherry and a lovely grippy finish. This is a beautiful Champagne-to cellar for 2-3 more years, but I couldn’t help to imagine how tasty this would also be with Kusshi oysters, the creamier the better for this Champagne.
The Botanist Islay Dry Gin (750ml)
Review Date: 04-02-2022
This is by far my favorite Gin for martinis. The botanicals are well measured so that one does not overpower any of the others. Bright lemon, a touch of seaweed, and a whisper of moss. The finish is clean and perfect for enjoying stirred and garnished with a lemon twist.

Le Brun de Neuville "Côte Blanche" Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne
Review Date: 03-26-2022
The Le Brun Cote Blanche BDB is a bottle of champagne I love to bring to parties. It is approachable for newbies and enjoyable for experienced champagne drinkers. Aromas of bartlett pear, fresh ginger, yellow melon upfront later the minerality, slight chalkiness, and soft richness express in the mouthfeel. The finish is altogether charming. So if you are seeking a high-quality Champagne that is under $60.00 this is the one and should not be missed.
Antica Torino Rosso Vermouth Di Torino (750ml)
Review Date: 02-06-2022
This has a beautiful nose of Indian and Caribbean spices. Tantalizing aroma of candied orange peel, spun sugar and pralines. An addition of dried sweet pepper flakes are also tangled in. This is an outstandingly flavorful Rosso. No brainer that this will accompany your favorite bourbon cocktail and not overpower it. The lingering hangtime on this is lengthy too!

Antica Torino Dry White Vermouth Di Torino (750ml)
Review Date: 02-06-2022
Subtle aromatics of cumin, white pepper and ginger oil followed by curacao, candied pineapple is are all in unison but not overpowering. There's a lushness in the mouth feel and weighty texture that is pleasing. The straight base of Cortese lends to a very flavorful and is a standalone Vermouth easily enjoyable on its own. But if you chose to us it in a gin or vodka cocktail make sure they are both on the dry end.

2018 Anderson Hill "O Series" Shiraz Adelaide Hills South Australia
Review Date: 02-05-2022
The first aroma that genuinely comes through is jasmine. A bundle of fresh Jasmine, blue and black berries, candied black cherries, mint and dark minerals. Cinnamon spices, and a hint of fresh cracked peppercorn. All the characteristics of an Adelaide Shiraz but with restraint. Everything about this Shiraz is subtle but hints of liveliness. It is truly a really pretty wine that can go with many meal periods or just on its own.
Laurent-Perrier Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature Champagne
Review Date: 11-20-2021
This Laurent Perrier bottling is of my favorites in the Blanc de Blanc realm. A crisp and clean Champagne that leads towards lemon, fresh ginger, honeycomb, white peach and fragrant white flowers on the nose and palate. The finish is full, present and lengthy. This is a perfect Champagne for a lover of bright lifted flavors with med plus acidity. Enjoy this with escolar nigiri.
San Venanzio Fortunato Brut Prosecco di Valdobbiadene Superiore
Review Date: 10-23-2021
When enjoying this Prosecco recognize that is made with such familiarity and experience for this family as ties in the Valdobbiadene that go as far back to the sixth century AD. Their expectations when harvesting quality Glera combined with consistency in flavor from bottling to consumer is why K&L's relationship has lasted so long, they're just about part of our family. The suppleness of granny smith apples, ginger-pear sorbet, dried apricots in this version finishing with almond paste and the subtle brininess is lengthy and truly delightful on the finish. Feel free to apply your fruit puree of choice, this can be a great partner to passion fruit or prickly pear for bellini cocktails.

Billecart-Salmon Brut Nature Champagne
Review Date: 12-09-2020
There is a firmness of bright tangerine and chalk on the nose, the plus, plus acidity stands out and performs a tight pull on the sides of the cheeks. This is my style of Champers. Great acidity and bright not so subtle acidity. This is a winner! In the end the slightness of fresh dill and lemongrass head the florals but the zesty-ness of Meunier is the host here. Super fresh flavors and a lingering finish.
Billecart-Salmon "Le Rendez-Vous" Pinot Meunier Extra Brut #1 Champagne
Review Date: 11-28-2020
Billecart's first rendition of 100% Pinot Meunier from 3 grand cru sites, Leuvrigny, Festigny and Venteuil in the Marne Valley is a show stopper. The florals alone is enough to draw in ones curiosity and intrigue. There is a familiar fragrance of proofing yeast, shaved ginger and Indian spices. The delicate flavors of citron, pomelo, D'Anjou pear, mineral salt and sweet/fruity olive oil leaves a fascinating finish in the mouthfeel. Fine bubbles dance on the palate and a low dosage of 4.5 g/l is my kind of Champagne. This can age for 5 years but I endorse to enjoy this now, there is not much out there.

Pierre Sparr Brut Rosé Crémant d'Alsace
Review Date: 10-16-2020
Another fantastic Alsatian sparkler of 100% Pinot Noir. Bright raspberry, red plums and cherry blossoms spring forward from the glass. An abundance of candied cherry and ripe watermelon with a touch of lychee encompass the palate finishing dry and lingering. This is a perfect paring for charcutier of the spicy kind and cremont cheese with dried figs.

Pierre Sparr "Réserve" Crémant d'Alsace Brut
Review Date: 10-16-2020
This is an absolute superb Alsatian sparkling made up of 80% Pinot blanc and 20% Pinot Auxerrois. Lined with an abundance of spiced pear, baked apple and a sprinkling of cinnamon on the nose, then leaning into a more tropical taste on the palate of pineapple, agave and honey. Finishing dry, bright and yeasty. Great mouthfeel and a perfect aperitif if paired with light snacks or just mid day enjoyment.
Lini "Labrusca" Lambrusco Emilia Bianco
Review Date: 09-26-2020
My first time tasting a white Lambrusco and this one is quite the yummy little charmant-method sparkler. Honey dew melon, brown pear, rainier cherry, pink lady apples. Overfilled with great acidity together with a light mineral essence, perfect to drink on its own and no vital need of food. Cheers!

Moussé Fils "Eugène" Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs Champagne
Review Date: 09-02-2020
Cedric Mousse Champagnes are one of my top favorites, mostly because of their use of Meunier, stainless steel and malolactic. This is a great value with a ton of work put behind the making of these Champagnes. This bottling is 80% Meunier, 20% Pinot with a blending of 50% 2015 vintage juice and 50% 2003-2014 juice somewhat of a solera style but fresher. There's tons of layers and texture, a light lemon curd along with a fresh fruit bowl complexity. Some ginger spiciness shows in the mid but this is a quaffable Champagne, so easy to drink on its own. If you had to have a snack, I'd recommend a simple pate with toasted almonds and dried apricots keep it short and simple with this one.
Fred Jerbis 'Gin 43' Italian Gin (700ml)
Review Date: 11-26-2019
This is by far one of my favorite gins. Fred Jerbis has not only created a stunningly aromatic gin, it is also has a profound mouthfeel that's not like any other I've ever tried. You absolutely get orange blossoms, saffron, mint, thyme, then lingering juniper berries and rowan berries. This finishes with a tad bit of sweetness that is natural. This is a perfect sipping gin. But if you must, a tonic or soda water is also a great complement to round out the flavors.
