Having been born in Rio de Janeiro into a very proud French/Portuguese family, and living in France and the USA for almost 25 years, gave me the best of all worlds, one very old, and another very new. I’ve always had three different perspectives on everything growing up, three different opportunities to understand the world around me and to try to make sense of it all. From Ipanema Beach, to the bluest of seas in the Côte d'Azur and Nice, to the wonderful Big Sur. Caipirinha and Feijoada, codfish and Vinho Verde, Daube and Bandol, and the always present Rosé, and…beer for those 110 degree summertime days in Rio! I always worked in the food business, in Paris, Nice and San Francisco. While working at Jules Verne in Paris, I decided to devote my career solely to wines and eventually got my Sommelier certification through the International Sommelier Guild.

2018 Lamouroux Rouge, Graves
Review Date: 08-28-2023
Very classic Graves with its dusty dried leaves, olives, coffee along with dark berries and currants. The tannins are soft and sweet. Showing well the gorgeous fruit of the 2018 vintage. A very friendly wine and ready to be enjoyed now.

2019 Moulin d'Issan, Bordeaux
Review Date: 07-31-2023
Moulin d'Issan comes from a segment of the d'Issan estate that are closest to the Gironde, with mainly clayey/limestone soil and not part of the Margaux nor the Médoc appellation, where the Merlot grape excels. The assemblage is 90% Merlot + 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is an elegant wine, with beautiful notes of incense and violets. Nice juicy palate full of plums.
2012 Malleret, Haut-Médoc
Review Date: 07-31-2023
It is not everyday we are able to find a wine that has bottle age, lots of complexity and elegance, and yet retails for less than $15. The 2012 Mailleret ticks all these boxes and more. This is a wine to purchase by the case while we have it in stock.
Top Value!
2010 Fontis, Médoc
Review Date: 04-24-2023
A Cru Bourgeois located just north of Saint-Estèphe that has consistently been producing wines of high quality. It is 50/50 Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, rich and spicy, with ripe tannins that are souple. It evoques more finesse than power, and it will pair really well with all sorts of Mediterranean inspired dishes. It is another wine that is ready to be enjoyed tonight, although it can also be cellared for a few years!

2016 Barde-Haut, St-Emilion
Review Date: 04-24-2023
From our good friend Hélène Garcin-Lévêque. Barde-Haut always delivers, and the excellent 2016 is no different! Incredibly complex, with notes that go from lavender, kirsch, blueberries to graphite and spices, with an earthy minerality all throughout. It is opulent, it is beautiful, and a tremendous value for its quality. Check out also the other vintages of Barde-Haut we have available in our inventory. They are all singing!
2015 Birot "Vintage", Premiere Cotes de Bordeaux
Review Date: 04-24-2023
Birot “Vintage” is their premium wine. It comes from the oldest plots in the estate, and it has a bit more Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend (25%), which gives it a firmer tannic structure. It is aged for 12 months in 50% new barriques. Rich and complex, it can be appreciated now, or be put in a cellar for a good 10 years longer. This is indeed an excellent buy.

2015 de Birot, Côtes de Bordeaux
Review Date: 04-24-2023
De Birot is perhaps our top offering for Bordeaux at this incredible price. This is their main wine, and offers good complexity, soft and round tannins. It is very approachable and would be my first choice to recommend for pouring at parties and events of any size. It will impress the guests.
2018 Duplessis, Moulis
Review Date: 12-19-2022
A very pleasing wine with beautiful aromatics. It is showing the classic approachability of the 2018 vintage, however still have a firm frame of tannins that tells me you could easily cellar it for a decade or so.
It will do really well as a dinner wine, in an event setting, or just by yourself on a cold winter's evening.
2008 Coufran, Haut-Médoc
Review Date: 11-14-2022
This wine from a cool 2008 vintage, although not overly complicated, hits all the check marks for me. Mostly Merlot - as usual for Coufran, with a soft core of plum fruit and cocoa. Very approachable right now, but I would still advise to decant it, just to to flesh it out and open up its hidden magic.

$17.99
2007 Verdignan, Haut-Médoc
Review Date: 11-14-2022
The coolness of the 2007 vintage is quite apparent in this wine, in the best sense of the way. Classic in style, its medium body palate reveals delicate but ripe notes of cherries, along with its soft tannins. It is drinking really well at this point, and it will be excellent for pairing with a meal or a cheese platter.

Antech Brut Nature Blanquette de Limoux
Review Date: 10-27-2022
Quite possibly the perfect aperitif for a great soirée, crisp and refreshing. It is not austere at all as some might think, being a Brut Nature (no added sugar), just delightfully vibrant. As with food, think all kinds of appetizers, oysters and why not... lobsters!
Price:
$14.99
2020 Antech "Emotion" Brut Crémant de Limoux Rosé
Review Date: 10-27-2022
Antech has consistently delivered one of the best deals in sparkling wines outside of Champagne. Their rosé is very versatile for it will be just as perfect for pairing with light foods, hors d'ouevres and salads, or as an aperitif. Delicate rosé color, with aromas of wild strawberries and raspberries. Completely Brut, and absolutely delicious

Allimant Laugner Cremant d'Alsace Brut
Review Date: 10-24-2022
Allimant Laugner produces one of our most sought after rosé sparking wines ever outside of Champagne! Their blanc is just as delicious "inside secret" of ours, but I decided to let he word out. Perfect for an elegant aperitif, parties or anytime when a celebration is called for.
Enjoy.

2018 Crabitey, Graves
Review Date: 05-09-2022
Since assuming the realms of this historied estate in Graves, Arnould de Butler has undoubtedly placed Crabitey in its right place as one of the top wines of the appellation. It is starting to drink now, showing a rich cocoa palate, along with the elegant earthy note we expect from a Bordeaux. The quality of its fruit, and the firm but ripe tannins framing it, tell me this bottle could stay in the cellars for a while still.
2001 Barde-Haut, St-Emilion
Review Date: 03-14-2022
Every once in a while we have a wine that is perfectly aged, with an affordable price, and above all, exceptional. The 2001 Barde-Haut ticks all these boxes. From an often overlooked vintage, which in a way is a good thing, prices stay down, it is drinking beautifully, and very elegantly. If you are looking for a classic aged Bordeaux, I wholeheartedly propose this bottle.
2019 Pavillon de La Reine, Pauillac
Review Date: 12-20-2021
This is the “house” wine from the famous hotel Pavillon de la Reine in Paris. I have known about and seen this beautiful place tucked away on the Place des Vosges in Paris, but alas, never been inside. Now I have tasted their wine! I have to point out the price, after all this is a Pauillac! Very approachable now, with loads of chocolate and cassis notes, you can serve it tonight with dinner.

2015 Valentons-Canteloup, Bordeaux Supérieur
Review Date: 10-13-2020
Valentons-Cantelouphas always been a tremendous value in our Bordeaux inventory. Especially for those who like an old-school wine. The fruit here takes a backseat to a more dried leaves, earthy tones. This will pair very well with any mushroom sauced dish for this fall.

2016 Siaurac, Lalande de Pomerol
Review Date: 11-11-2019
A great offering from Lalande-de-Pomerol, showing a robust core of ripe fruit but never heavy-handed. Beautiful aromatics of plums, berries, and coffee beans. They follow on the elegant palatealong with very polished tannins now. Very much a wine to enjoy now as it is already delicious and a great bargain for its quality.
2016 Le Thil, Pessac-Léognan
Review Date: 08-19-2019
A very refined wine, with enticing aromatics of cassis, cherries, cocoa, graphite, and coffee. It is medium body with present but agreeable tannins. Approachable and ready to go!

$29.99
2016 Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc
Review Date: 08-19-2019
Showing strong Cabernet characteristic, with notes of ripe berries and currents, along with an intriguing note of menthol. This is a tremendous value that should not be missed by those looking to buy some cases of a quality wine to drink within the next 5 or 10 years.
2016 de Chantegrive Rouge, Graves
Review Date: 08-19-2019
De Chantegrive has been making consistently quality wines in every vintage and the 2016 is no different. Chocolate, and currants, touch of fresh roasted coffee and olives, with a distinctly Cabernet Sauvignon character. A great wine for the cellars.
Patrick Bottex "La Cueille" Méthode Ancéstrale Bugey Cerdon Rosé
Review Date: 06-03-2019
Fun, fun and more fun! Here’s a wine bursting with raspberries and bright red apples. Very light in alcohol (8%) and full of bubbles. Rosé from gamay and the very indigenous "poulsard" . For me this wine is picture perfect for Thanksgiving— the last thing I would want is a heavy and cumbersome wine for this late afternoon dinner. Instead this is a light, refreshing, food-friendly wine, with just enough residual sugar to pair just about perfectly with turkey, cranberry and everything that goes with it. And it doesn’t give me a headache! I could give this wine nothing less than 5 stars for what it is!
2007 Rieussec, Sauternes
Review Date: 05-06-2019
This Rothschild property needs no introduction, and it is from another good vintage for Sauternes. The 2007 Rieussec is showing less sweetness and more spices, although with plenty of ripe fruit flavors, peaches and nectarines come to mind. A chunk of blue cheese, some roasted nuts and a glass of that is sure a ticket to paradise.

Paolucci Amaro CioCiaro Liqueur (750ml)

2016 La Tour Léognan (Carbonnieux), Pessac-Léognan
Review Date: 02-14-2019
The Tour Leognan caused quite an impression on our staff upon tasting. Very accessible, very elegant, with soft, perfectly ripe tannins - keep in mind, this is from a spectacular vintage, but still it is a very young wine. The fruit is very apparent at this point, but also showing freshly roasted coffee beans, and cocoa, and those notes round it up and take it to a level rarely seen on a wine of this young age and price range.
Kudos!

2009 Verdignan, Haut-Médoc
Review Date: 09-24-2018
Located close to Saint-Estèphe, and possessing, what I like to call that je ne sais quois, I found on the wines of this area. Some spiciness, woodsyness, and a touch of the exotic! The wine showed well, and I would start drinking it from now on, and keep some in the cellar

2015 Bois-Malot, Bordeaux Supérieur
Review Date: 08-13-2018
Easy and lovely. The 2015 Bois Malot has a very pretty lifted aromatics, reminiscent of fraise du bois. A style of Bordeaux that would go down very easily on those hot nights, simple dinners, burgers and etc

2014 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac
Review Date: 02-20-2018
A beautiful nose of dark fruits, like cassis, blackberry, plums and an elegant note of pencil lead. The palate not only follows the nose but also offers plums, tobacco and cedar. My exact notes about the palate was: "beautiful fruit behind a fine veil of tannins and earthy minerality". I think that describes the elegance of this sumptuous wine.
2012 Fourcas Hosten, Listrac
Review Date: 08-24-2015
I always found that Fourcas Hostein wines retain a nice balance between the old school style and the ripeness of the fruit. The 2012 is no exception. A bit of technical information: 50% of the vineyards is planted on gravelly soil in the area called "Le Fourcas", the other 50% is located on a clayey-chalky soil opposite the Château. As for the élevage, it spent 12 months in barriques (1/3 new)- 56% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc.

2009 Potensac, Médoc
Review Date: 05-04-2015
A very complex wine from a great vintage! Enticing nose of leather, dried meat, dark fruit, cocoa and vanilla. Carrying on the palate the leather, olives, currants and cocoa. Medium+ tannins, and acidity. I would recommend decanting this beauty for about 1 hour before drinking.
2009 Durfort-Vivens, Margaux
Review Date: 05-04-2015
A beautifully classic Margaux! Figs, violets, roasted coffee along with savory notes on palate. Quite delicious and with a long finish. Not a power house, as I said it is a classic!

2009 Capbern Gasqueton, St-Estèphe
Review Date: 08-09-2014
Dark crimson color. The nose has beautiful notes of coffee, violets, plums, blackberries and chocolate, along with classic crushed stones. All that transitions on the palate to a very marked chocolate covered cherry, vanilla, balanced by the medium+ acidity and a marked amount of tannins. This is a warm and inviting wine, with a perfect balance between the ripeness of fruit, tannins and the oak notes. Very well put together. It will age beautifully.

Egrot Brut Champagne
Review Date: 07-03-2012
This is a new Champagne for me that thanks to our buyer Gary Westby, I had the chance to taste and love it. With a fascinating nose of caramel toffee, some cocoa powder and a surprising wiff of pain-au-chocolat and cherries that brought back memories of a breakfast on a back street cafe around the Champs-Elisees. A great wine for a very elegant apperitif.

2005 Verdignan, Haut-Médoc
Review Date: 12-17-2011
Great example of the fantastic 2005 vintage. The Verdignan it is showing those classic notes of black currants, cedar, touch of cigar box and even some floral notes. Old school yet approachable. It needs a bit of debating to bring its magic out. Very good value and very good wine.

2007 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Review Date: 10-11-2010
I know it is pretty easy to recommend a wine with a 99+ rating... Isn't it almost perfection? But I did not only try this amazing wine but poured it for some lucky customers that came to our Big Rhone Tasting a couple of weeks ago! From my point of view, this was probably the very best Chateauneuf I tasted from this vintage. I'm not going to bother you with descriptions, but I will tell you, this wine will be part of the history of the Chateauneuf appellation!
Ariston Aspasie Brut Rosé Champagne

Ledaig 10 year old Isle of Mull Single Malt Whisky (750ml)
Review Date: 12-27-2009
I was a Scotch drinker in my 20s, but for some reason that I can't remember, I stopped drinking them. After being around David Girard for awhile, he became sort of a "mentor" to me, and I am having a lot of fun being reintroduced to the world of Scotch. The Ledaig has been, so far, one my my favorites, with a very balanced amount of peat (which I love), and a quite intriguing whiff of white flowers, leather and lots of spices. I will keep you posted about this exciting journey with other reviews.
