2021 Domaine Renaud Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Aux Bouthières"
Review Date: 11-13-2024
Coming from the difficult 2021 vintage the 2021 Domaine Renaud Pouilly Fuisse 1er Cru "Aux Bouthieres" is a triumph. With expressive fruit notes that go more towards the tropical side than orchard fruits the spice and freshness here reveal a cool vintage. The acidity, balance and vibrancy of fruit here make this a spectacular value!

2022 Domaine Renaud Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Vers Cras"
Review Date: 11-13-2024
The "Vers Cras" vineyard lies within both the towns of Fuisse and Solutre-Pouilly which coupled with a high proportion of limestone and sediment from a dried up Jurassic lake make this the idea terroir for great white Burgundy. The 2022 Domaine Renaud Pouilly-Fuisse 1er Cru "Vers Cras" is a wonderfully balanced offering tilted towards pure orchard fruits and subtle spice notes along with white flowers. This pure, fresh offering is an ideal white Burgundy for under $40.

I have tasted a lot of vintages of Clos de la Roilette Fleurie and the 2022 vintage may be the best I have ever tasted. Amazing aromas of both crushed flowers and fresh picked berries along with subtle earth notes leap from the glass while the palate is flush with racy berry fruit, spice and forest floor . The balance here is impeccable with every element firing in perfect harmony from the very first sniff to the long beautiful finish. 2022 Domaine Jean-Michel Giboulot Pommard "En Brescul"

Hints of cola make their way towards the finish which is long and complex as it unfurls across the palate. The 2022 Charles Pere et Fille Volnay 1er Cru "Les Fremiets" is a stunning value and trades at about half the price of other producers fashioning top flight Volnay from the 1er Cru vineyard "Les Fremiets". A beautiful nose of petrol, spice, nut skin and iodine gives way to a vibrant palate of citrus, apricot, dried hay and ginger notes which create a full-bodied, deep, powerful Riesling. This feels like a youthful rendition of a Frederic Emile, impressive complexity and layered on the palate from start to finish.
