Ariston Aspasie "Réserve" Brut Champagne

Ever since I had this wine at my wedding in 2008, it has been getting more and more impressive, the name has changed from 'Carte Blanch' to Reserve but it's the same wonderful Champagne. This current cuvee is the most amazing value yet in a truly first class Champagne. You owe it to yourself to try one if you haven't yet. My number one pick of Champagne values in the store!

Laurent-Perrier "La Cuvée" Brut Champagne

How do you make a classic pleasing Champagne even better? Bring in some new spectacular fruit sources including a lot of Grand Cru Chardonnay and add 'La Cuvee' to the name. The replacement for the LP Brut is just fantastic! It shows a more creamy nose next to the previous LP, and a finer more mineral driven palate impression. The round and fairly ripe apple and peach middle has an appealing steely core, and a chalky minerality underpinning it all. Even more refined than the Champagne it replaces, LP has an even better winner on their hands here. It will make socially distanced holidays much better!

Laurent-Perrier "Cuvée Rosé" Brut Rosé Champagne
Review Date: 07-21-2020
You don't become one of the world's best selling Rose Champagnes for no reason. The all Pinot Noir, all Grand Cru LP Rose is truly a gem - rich and plenty powerful, with a palate of lightly spiced raspberry and wild strawberry fruit and a creamy finish and framed by perfect acidity. Somehow LP manages to combine richness and elegance into one stunning Champagne

What a value! Another great find by Gary Westby. Lovely bread/cracker notes, fairly rich but with a good highlighting tartness. Clean finish and a lovely texturaly fine mousse

Egrot Extra Brut Champagne
Review Date: 11-24-2019
I loved the Champagnes as E. Goutorbe and still love them as Egrot! 2/3 Pinot Noir and 1/3 Chard. Extra Brut throws a lot of us off, but it really is just the dry end of Brut. The wine itself has nice angularity and crispness in a very dry style. The grams/liter really only can be understood in relation to the acidity and fruit ripeness - this bottling has a wonderful balance here and just begs for a plate of oysters

Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr. Small Batch Bottled in Bond Straight Kentucky Bourbon (750ml)
Review Date: 02-06-2019
Wow! Great classic bourbon is so hard to find and EH Taylor (along with all the stable) is almost always in short supply. Wonderfully spicy and alluring, viscous and showing the slightly sweet corn and oak qualities I love without being cloying or overly woody. Especially for a 100 proof whiskey, it is amazingly smooth on the palate and finishes super fine.

Who doesn't love Bolli! 007, The gals from Ab Fab, and us! Seriously this has always been a favorite, likely due to its generous use of reserve wines and meticulous winemaking, the bold rich and nutty presence and light zesty lemon peel highlights are truly hard to resist

Here's a very unique, complex and rich Champagne that any Champagne lover needs to try. Powerful with rich hazelnut, exotic fruits and spice box notes, lovely citrus peel and a layer of beautiful sweet chalky minerality. The long ageing in a 'solera' style adds to the unusual complexity and intrigue of this Champagne. All this at an unbelievable price for the quality.

Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé Champagne
Review Date: 02-05-2019
Billecart Salmon is one of the most consistent and ever reliably great rose Champagnes. A constant favorite with customers and staff alike, it's hard to find fault with anything about this one. Richly bold and lovely red fruit flavors dominate this true classic.

Billecart-Salmon "Brut Réserve" Champagne
Review Date: 02-05-2019
K&L has a long and happy relationship with Billecart Salmon and the Brut Reserve is as lively and exuberant as ever. Lovely lemony fruit and an enticing candied citrus peel not are lifted by the brightness and clarity. Always a hit!

Michel Arnould "Réserve" Grand Cru Verzenay Brut Champagne
Review Date: 02-05-2019
Verzenay has the distinction of being north facing, yet decidedly warmer and able to produce wonderful Pinot Noir. The Michel Arnould Reserve uses this (75% Pinot Noir) to produce a wonderfully rich and mouth filling champagne with a charming fruit profile combining white peachy fruit and red berries. A layer of creamy nuttiness is the perfect compliment and lovely acidity holds it all together perfectly.

Launois "Veuve Clemence" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne

I love the freshness of the Veuve Clemence. From pickings on the upper and lower parts of the slopes in all Grand Cru vineyards. The Champagne is wonderfully complex, but the crisp apple fruit component of the palate shows through brilliantly and subtle hints of spices are woven throughout. Another incredible deal in Grand Cru Champagne.

Wow, this is something special and different! All Mesnil fruit in oak barrels made from Mesnil Oak - like a double Grand Cru. The Mesnil Oak lends a delicious oaky note with a wonderfully unusual and enticing oily texture. Mid slope Mesnil pickings give classic GC fruit and power

What a wonderful vintage for Brane Cantenac. At the UGC tasting in SF 1/2018 it was showing absolutely beautifully. Wonderful purity and a top layer of dense wild fruits while offering a lot of smoky spicy notes underneath. Incredibly balance and structure, this is delicious and a wine for the cellar.

1977 Taylor Vintage Port

Glass Full image Glass Full image Glass Full image Glass Full image Glass Full image
Always a favorite of mine from the 1977 vintage, the Taylor is now (2017) drinking beautifully and still showing it's complex house style of plenty of rich mid palate fruit, sweet and dark with an incredible violet and rose petal overlay with a lovely silken finish. The finesse that this port has developed over the years compliments the still noticeable power perfectly.

The Les Allees de Cantemerle 2009 is a great value wine giving you a large amount of what you get in the first wine for a bargain price. Pretty rich and great power for a wine in this range with lovely rose petal notes over deep dark fruit. Plenty of black spices and a nice note of minerality finish it off.

Gin Mare Mediterranean Gin (750ml)

A very cool and unusual gin from Spain! Distilled from Olives, Thyme, Rosemary and Basil, this gin is almost a martini in itself. The thyme is the forward aromatic so the herbal notes are very fine, and wonderful citrus overtones provide freshness and zip. There is a fantastic and equally fresh subtly minty quality on the finish that I love. Absolutely delicious.

Lehmann "Jamesse Prestige" Grand Champagne Mouth-Blown Wine Glass #45

When our Champagne gurus Gary and Scott came back from Champagne this year raving about the glassware designed by Philippe Jamesse, I certainly took notice. These Champagne glasses are a bit more open and less flute like than standard flutes, and highlight the complexity of Champagne beautifully. Among the best Champagne glasses we've ever used, they are also an incredible value for both the mouth blown and machine made versions. If you love Champagne you owe it to yourself to try this glass.
