2007 La Maialina Chianti Classico Riserva
Review Date: 12-10-2011
Saturated ruby in the glass. Earthy, leathery & brambly-spicy blackberry fruits on the nose. Soft, velvety mouthfeel makes this one an easy drinker.
2002 Blair Estate Napa Red
Review Date: 12-03-2011
Ruby-purple in the glass. Not sure but this may have passed it's peak. There is an underlying scent of funk with a strong dark chocolate note carrying through. I'll have to check back as I pair this with dinner.

2007 Castello di Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva
Review Date: 11-26-2011
Ruby in the glass. The nose is full of plums, blackberry, earth, leather & spices. The wine attack echoes the nose. While I really enjoyed this Chianti I would be interested to try this after a few more years in a good cellar.
2004 Trimbach "Cuvée Frédéric Emile" Riesling
Review Date: 11-24-2011
Honey-gold in the glass. The nose is a complex cornucopia of honeysuckle, peaches, nectarines & slate minerals. The wine is rich & mineral driven with sweet complexity but is still a dry wine. To date, this is hands down the best riesling I have tried. Pretty sure the vineyard's pedigree has something to do with that.
Billecart-Salmon "Brut Reserve" Champagne (375ml)
Review Date: 11-24-2011
Pale salmon color in the glass. Yeasty, biscuity nose with hints of floral cherry. A delicate & elegant wine similar to the nose. A delicious aperitif to our Thanksgiving feast!
2000 Labégorce, Margaux
Review Date: 11-22-2011
Ruby-purple in the glass. The nose brings soil, currants & a floral overtone. Polished tannins & acids still evident. Plums & currants dominate the fruit profile. This should be interesting to pair with steak tonight.

2009 Ferrando "La Torrazza" Canavese Rosso
Review Date: 11-13-2011
Saturated ruby in the glass. Earth, minerals, blue fruits, cherries & roses on the nose. Lots coming from the glass with each whiff. Red fruits & plums show on the attack with light tannin & acid. Has a lip smacking juicy quality to it.

Sean Thackrey "Pleiades XXI" Old Vine Red Blend
Review Date: 11-06-2011
Pale ruby in the glass. All kinds of fruit action teeming from the glass. There is red cherry, blueberry, & sweet red fruit pie. Similar notes on the attack. Much lighter & lacking the eucalyptus note compared to a previous version I tried.

2008 Storybook Mountain "Mayacamas Range" Napa Valley Zinfandel
Review Date: 11-06-2011
Dark ruby in the glass. Definitely a lighter zin compared to other Napa Zins I've had recently. There are cherries, plums & spice coming from the glass. Fruit turns brambly when you taste it with minerals & spice. There are plenty of acids leaving me to believe this should make an excellent BBQ kabob wine.
2008 Bisceglia Aglianico del Vulture Terra di Vulcano
Review Date: 11-05-2011
Saturated ruby-purple in the glass. Very dark plums, asphalt & minerals on the nose. The attack on this wine is much lighter in fruit. You get cherries, light but noticeable tannin & acids show. Pretty interesting wine from the side of a volcano in Southern Italy.

2005 l'Avocat Rouge, Graves
Review Date: 10-31-2011
Saturated ruby in the glass. Menthol, herbs, black currant & oak waft from the glass. Astringent tannin & acids are still evident. Some of the oak & currant follow. This will need some air time to resolve. Should be better after trick or treating!

$14.99
2005 La Gerla Brunello di Montalcino
Review Date: 10-29-2011
Saturated ruby purple in the glass. Lots of plum, leather, spices & earthy funk on the nose. Some tar & cherries, leather & tobacco spice notes come through. A delicious glass of Brunello!
1997 Terrey Gros Cailloux, St-Julien
Review Date: 10-15-2011
Saturated ruby with a slight fade at the rim. Cranberry, cherry, earth & minerals burst from the nose. Much of the same on the attack with that austerity that is telltale Bordeaux. Tannins & acids are still evident though fairly well integrated. I'm looking forward to polishing off this bottle tonight!
