Bruno Michel "Rebelle" Extra Brut Champagne
Review Date: 4-18-2014
The Bruno Michel “Rebelle” offers much more richness than most Extra Brut Champagnes, and with the lovely acidity and minerality characteristics, this makes for a great sushi pairing! The Rebelle will delight your palate with the crisp acidity and luscious apple type fruits. If you like sushi, I highly recommend pairing the two! It goes great with yellow tail, salmon, spicy tuna and many other types of seafood, but it is the wasabi and soy sauce that really makes the pairing special. Don’t hesitate -- treat yourself to sushi and this Champagne tonight!

2013 Cep (Peay Vineyards) "Hopkins Ranch" Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc
Review Date: 4-18-2014
I have been a fan of the Cep (Peay Vineyards) wines for a few years and this Sauvignon Blanc reaffirms my allegiance! There is so much to love about this wine as it is bursting with lots of acid, green apple, citrus, stone fruit and white flowers. There is a chalky mouthfeel that is a pleasant surprise coming from the Russian River Valley. This will be a good one to stock up on for summer!

2012 Kalinda "Cuvée Reserve" Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
Review Date: 3-15-2014
This Pinot Noir is a great value! I love the wines from Trisaetum and this one is no exception. This zesty wine is bursting with tart cheery and cranberry, orange peel, spicy clove and herbs, with a wonderful earthiness which screams for food. I’m scheming up a BBQ with some pork and this wine as I write this!

2004 Larrivet Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan
Review Date: 2-8-2014
Personally, when my first descriptor for a wine during a tasting is “Chocolate”, it is most likely going to become a favorite! Along with chocolate, there are juicy cherry and red current fruits that are still making this wine fresh on the palate. However, there are plenty of dusty tannins with some earth floor notes that give this wine some heft. This wine has steak written all over it and is drinking beautifully right now. Guess what I’m having for dinner tonight?

2011 Château de la Charrière Beaune "Vieilles Vignes" Domaine Yves Girardin
Review Date: 2-8-2014
Old vine Burgundy at this price? What a steal! Don’t let the price tag fool you, as this wine has a lot to offer! This Pinot Noir is very pretty with bright red cherry and floral notes. There is a nice kick of mineral and white pepper that make this wine really exciting.

2011 Domaine des Niales Rhedon-Marin Mâcon-Villages Vieilles Vignes
Review Date: 2-8-2014
This Chardonnay is so delicious! It’s crisp acidity and mineral notes dominate the palate, with lovely citrus and pear fruit to make your mouth happy. I am always amazed at how complex this wine is for the price. Definitely one of my go-to Chardonnays!

2012 Te Mata "Cape Crest" Sauvignon Blanc Hawkes Bay New Zealand
Review Date: 2-5-2014
I love the silky texture on this Sauvignon Blanc! The Te Mata “Cape Crest” was fermented in neutral French Oak barrels, which adds body without it overpowering the wine with toasty notes. Pretty floral and soft pear characteristics round out the palate. While this wine is delicious now, I will personally lay this down for 6 months to one year to allow the wood to integrate a little more. It should be fantastic this summer!

Bruno Michel "Les Roses" Brut Rosé Champagne
Review Date: 10-17-2013
The Bruno Michel Les Roses will speak to red wine lovers. The characteristics are so similar to a Pinot Noir such as ripe cherry, orange peel, earth and spice. This has the stuffing to pair with many foods. While this is not a Champagne for every palate, it is a special treat for some of us!

2005 Launois "Spécial Club" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (ships as 1.5L)
Review Date: 10-17-2013
Wow this is decadent Champagne! I loved the 2004 Launois Special Club, but the 2005 is even better in my opinion. Confection flavors of vanilla cupcake frosting, gram cracker, hazelnut, peaches and cream. This is a great choice for the holidays, or any night you want a special treat.

2012 Au Bon Climat/K&L Wine Merchants "Bien Nacido Vineyard" Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir
Review Date: 10-1-2013
If you love drinking Pinot Noirs, but have a hard time finding a delicious one that won’t break the bank, look no further! This wine is loaded with very bright, high toned red fruits, such as cherry and cranberry. There is also a lovely floral quality, with a touch of herbal qualities and spice. All of this combined with a nice medium acidity, and you’ve got an outstanding Pinot Noir! Tastes great now after decanting, but will definitely improve with some age. This is a great choice for your holiday parties. Buy it now before it’s gone!

Bruno Michel Premier Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Review Date: 9-25-2013
The Bruno Michel Premier Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs is a Champagne that continues to stand out in our staff tastings. I’m in love with the crisp and bright citrus and apple notes. There is a note of toasted bread, but it is well balanced in focused and complex Champagne. Perhaps the best part of this Blanc de Blancs is that it tastes like it should be drank during a special occasion, but priced to drink on any occasion.

2010 Potensac, Médoc
Review Date: 9-19-2013
Don’t let the price deceive you, this wine has the stuffing to age well. Upon aeration, flavors of dark currants, cedar, forest floor and anise are coaxed out of the glass. With age, I believe this wine will impress us with a powerful elegance.

2010 NXNW Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 9-19-2013
This Cabernet has a lot of structure on for $20! Plentiful dark fruits, spice, mint, anise, and tobacco will entice your taste buds. This is one of those rare K&L treasures that you will be happy you took a chance on. Buy some before it’s gone!

2012 Anselmo Mendes Alvarinho "Contacto" Minho
Review Date: 9-14-2013
I was already a sucker for Alvarinho wines, but this one from Anselmo Mendes has won my heart and my palate. This wine is bursting with lovely stone fruits and minerality in perfect balance. The lively acidity, spice and citrus pithe will wake up your taste buds. There is so much complexity in this wine that it will hold up to many foods well. Serve this at a dinner party and amaze your friends!

Campeòn K&L Exclusive Blanco Tequila 750ml
Review Date: 8-24-2013
This Tequila is so clean, smooth and exciting; I will be comparing this to all other Blanco's from now on. I recommend either sipping this by itself or with a little lime and agave nectar, but nothing more. You don't want to miss out on the complex subtle lime, minerals, and pepper characteristics. Delicioso!
