2012 Ancient Peaks/K&L Wine Merchants Paso Robles Zinfandel
Review Date: 10-31-2013
This is the third wine from our K&L Central Coast trip and it was absolutely worth the wait. We wanted a wine that resembeled the quality of the base Ancient Peaks zin with a little more stuffing. Thanks to being picked from a single block, being aged in 75% neutral oak and 25% new, and adding just a hint of syrah we have exactly that. This is pure, brambly zin fruit with a refreshing mineral qualit and great structure from the oak. We could not have been happier with the result!

2011 Porter Creek "Old Vine" Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Review Date: 9-3-2013
Porter Creek has really impressed the staff with their fantastic wines across the board. This Chardonnay, traditionally made from the "George's Hill" 30 year old vines, was sourced from a neighboring vineyard in 2011. This is an intense, well structured wine, with bright apple pie and pear alongside sweet oak.

2011 Poggiarellino Rosso di Montalcino
Review Date: 9-3-2013
Our perennial staff favorite Rosso is back! Because of the staff AND customer love, the Poggiarellino Rosso is always one of the first Rosso's (and Brunello's) to sell out. 2011 is a warmer vintage, lending to richer dark cherry fruit, tobacco leaf, and earthy mineral components. Absolutely textbook Sangiovese which is an absolute steal for $17.

2005 Bodegas Casa Juan Seņor de Lesmos Reserva Rioja
Review Date: 8-29-2013
A great deal in traditional Rioja, this wine is full of red fruit, spice and earthy undertones. This wine has the structure to last quite a while, yet it is drinking beautifully now. All for $20!

Bruno Michel "Blanche" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 5-30-2013
Each time the Bruno Michel Blanche retuns to stock the staff becomes a bit giddy to both sell and consume quite a few bottles. Bruno Michel is one of our DI estates that is very, very proud of their meunier and are not afraid to show it. So very complex, this wine shows notes apple, citrus, mineral, toast and balanced all in harmony.

2010 Mount Eden "Wolff Vineyard" Edna Valley Chardonnay
Review Date: 4-30-2013
Although we've brought in less cases than usual during the last couple vintages, this wine has been both a staff and customer favorite for some time. The 2010 makes a strong return with an outstanding wine. Green apple, citrus, and pear dominate the rounder, fruit forward palate that has just enough acid to really keep the fruit in check. This is a very well rounded chardonnay that easily please any wine crowd.

2010 Qupe "Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard" Edna Valley Grenache
Review Date: 3-28-2013
This is a wine that makes me look forward to summer bbq's! Bright red cherry and raspberry fruit, floral and lightly spicy, with soft peppery spice and tanins. A truly refreshing, low abv red to sip outside with chicken or lamb fresh off the grill.

2008 Clendenen Family Vineyards "Le Bon Climat" Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay
Review Date: 3-28-2013
Rich pear, apple, and citrus abound on a very creamy, textural palate that is balanced nicely by some medium acidity. Finishes quite dry, with nice toasty oak notes.

2011 Palmina Santa Barbara County Malvasia Bianca
Review Date: 3-21-2013
The Malvasia Bianca from Palmina has an almost unmistakable aroma. So very floral, with notes of lavender, rose, and orange blossom, this wine screams spring/summer sipper. It is very dry, with citrus, peach, and rose hips notes rounded out by great acid and a fresh saline note that will leave your mouth watering.

2012 Palmina Santa Barbara County Pinot Grigio
Review Date: 3-21-2013
All stainless steel, cold fermented, inoculated with Epernnay yeast. Citrus and zesty acidity show up front, with melon and toast adding to the texture. With plenty of grip, this is a serious, American take on a traditional Italian varietal.

2010 Brewer-Clifton "Gnesa" Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay
Review Date: 3-21-2013
This was the Chardonnay that blew us away on our trip to Brewer Clifton. Fresh picked pear and wet limestone aromatics jumped from the glass. Ripe, round flavors of green apple, peach, and lemon were brought back into focus by great acidity. This absolutely sound wine lingered long after the glass was finished.
