2013 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc, Pessac-Léognan Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-7-2014
This is one of the greatest aging Bordeaux whites made and the 2013 looks to be a legend in the making. For those of us who can’t afford the two big guns we can take solace in the fact that the Domaine de Chevalier Blanc is a tad more affordable. Loads of iodine, white flowers and butter nuts, you can feel the electricity here with notes of wet stone. A fabulous wine. ***½ to ****

2013 Vieux-Château-Certan, Pomerol Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-5-2014
If it weren’t for the price this may have been my wine of the vintage, also the miniscule production of VCC in 2013 also makes it hard to overly endorse since we will get very few cases if any of this wine to sell. Fresh picked berries, lots of floral elements, hints of lavender then a blast of milk chocolate & cherries. So pretty, so elegant yet full-bodied. Yum!

2011 Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc

Along with La Lagune, this property stands out for being a perennial value and a top producer from its commune.

2013 Ausone, St-Emilion Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-1-2014
*** Tobacco, blackberry liqueur; slightly herbal and racy. Lots of depth and purity of fruit.

2013 Margaux, Margaux Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-1-2014
**½ Margaux may have been the hardest hit by the difficult weather in 2013. Menthol and rhubarb notes add a coolness to its bright, red berry and raspberry sherbet-laced fruit.

2013 Léoville-Las Cases, St-Julien Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-1-2014
*** 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc. Located at the edge of where St-Julien ends and Pauillac begins, Leoville Las Cases is the greatest producer in St-Julien as well as the most expensive. The 2013 displays notes of raspberry liqueur as well as black raspberry fruit, with hints of tobacco. Needs time to settle.

2013 La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, Pessac-Léognan Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-1-2014
***½ Loads of lemon crème here, lots of layers of fruit-explodes on the palate. Iodine and a structure reminiscent of a fine white burgundy with a price tag to match!

2013 Doisy-Védrines, Sauternes Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-1-2014
**½ to *** Racy, menthol, white chocolate and spirit gum. Always elegant and always a stellar bargain.

2013 l'Evangile, Pomerol Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 4-29-2014
From the Lafite family, this winery went through a complete remodel several years ago, and instituted a stricter harvesting program. The wine is one of the top wines from Pomerol, pretty much every year. Loads of fresh macerated berries, spice & plum notes, hints of chocolate--lots going on here. Very pretty wine.

2013 Doisy-Daëne, Sauternes Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 4-29-2014
90% Semillon & 10% Sauvignon Blanc. Sweet apricots mingled with notes of honey, dried apricots and hints of candied lemon peel. Very smooth and viscous. 3 out of 4 stars.

2013 d'Armailhac, Pauillac Pre-Arrival

Very impressive showing from this Mouton-owned property. The wine displays lots of berry fruit, good grip and nice length and complexity. **½ to ***

2013 Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc, Pessac-Léognan Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 4-28-2014
*** A full-bodied wine, has more oak than most of its counterparts, tropical fruit as well as citrus notes dominate the wine with a slightly saline quality on the finish.

2013 Giscours, Margaux Pre-Arrival

**½ to *** Lots of nice red fruit here, spicy, peppery with hints of chocolate. Tasted three times.
