Daniel Ginsburg "Grande Reserve Sous Bois" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 2-4-2014
Big & rich of the palate, yeasty and toasty, a full-bodied Champagne that finishes dry, but has great length.

2009 Viña Eguía Reserva Rioja
Review Date: 2-4-2014
There is plenty of fruit, good acidity, soft tannin structure, some minerality and a lengthy finish. The combination of blue/dark fruit and the black cherry comes from the Tempranillo. I also find some tar and roses on the lengthy finish.

2011 Butternut Chardonnay
Review Date: 1-31-2014
Here is a classic California Chardonnay. This wine has exhilarating aromas of honeysuckle, pear and green apple, with hints of pineapple. On the palate, this wine is rich and full-bodied, with lively fruit, sweet vanilla, butterscotch flavors and a refreshing, long, lingering finish.

2011 Valle dell'Acate "Case Ibidini" Nero d'Avola Sicilia
Review Date: 1-31-2014
Always a favorite, but love this 2011! Cranberry and raspberry, the palate is immediately charming and (incredibly) the fruit yields to the wine’s minerality; eliminating any possibility of it being over bearing. Impeccably balanced and wonderfully smooth, Valle del Acate is a renowned producer that has taken an indigenous Sicilian grape, often known for its weight and power, and given it grace.

2011 Luce Della Vite "Lucente" Toscana
Review Date: 1-13-2014
This is one of my favorite producers from Tuscany. This is their "Super Tuscan" - a very user friendly wine, the blend is 75%Merlot and 25% Sangiovese. Lots of dark skinned fruit with spice, minerals that complete each other on the nose and palate. The wine has pleasantly soft tannins, but good acidity to pull it all together.

2012 Silvano Follador "Cartizze" Prosecco DOCG Brut
Review Date: 12-26-2013
The Superiore di Cartizze comes from the most famous “vineyard zone” in the region, a 266-acre slope framed by the villages of San Pietro Barbozza, Saccol and Santo Stefano (from where the Folladors hail). This 2012 Cartizze is DRY; I swear smoke left my mouth after the first taste. That does not mean it is not a complex wine. I still get that granny smith apple up front and red apple and a touch of nectarine on the aftertaste. At 11.5%, this is a great wine to serve for all your holiday parties, very crowd pleasing.

2009 Cantine Ascheri Barolo
Review Date: 12-19-2013
This wine brings it with aromas of dried cherry and roses. On the palate you will find raspberries, tar, tobacco, truffle and a little Piedmont dust, with a good tannin structure. I love the elegance and varietal purity of this Barolo. I recommended decanting it for an hour or so, and think it would show best with mushroom risotto or a tri-tip.

2011 Bibi Graetz "Soffocone di Natale" Toscana
Review Date: 12-19-2013
A few months in oak, the nose is classic ripe cherries and strawberries and a hint of coco powder. On the palate of this full-bodied wine, you will find the fruit describe above with a touch of minerals and soft tannins, which gives this wine a very lush feel to the palate and has an incredible long finish. Turn down the heat in your house; this will keep you warm all winter long!

2010 TorCalvano Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
Review Date: 12-18-2013
An excellent wine at a reasonable price, this 2010 Vino Nobile is surprisingly approachable now. Silky red, with berry, plum and cherry character, medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a fruity finish.

2011 Tormaresca "Neprica" Puglia
Review Date: 12-18-2013
This slightly untraditional blend of negroamaro, primitivo and cabernet sauvignon will make you wonder why more Southern Italian winemakers are not convinced of cabernet's place among more native varietals. This value-packed red offers layers of raspberry, plum and black cherry fruits on the nose and palate, with light, spicy notes of licorice and a long finish for such an inexpensive wine. Ideal with pasta or the Pizza!

2011 Cantina Terlan "Vorberg" Pinot Bianco Riserva
Review Date: 10-25-2013
This is from a hillside in the town of Terlano in the Alto Adige where the soil is sandy, gravely and calcareous. A great place to plant grapes? This is what makes this so unique and the wines of this region unique as well. This Pinot Bianco is full-bodied, delicately fragrant and mildly floral, ripe honeydew melon and bartlett pear and lots of minerality balanced with acidity this can keep very easily over the next 5 years. A Great wine to serve for the winter holidays

2012 I Stefanini "Selese" Soave
Review Date: 8-23-2013
Wow! That's what several of us were saying at a staff tasting where this Soave was the first wine we tasted. Pure and fresh, this is a delicious dry white wine. Soave is one of Italy's most popular white wines, probably because the good ones like this are so smooth, light, and easy to drink. This wine comes from an area just east of Valpolicella and the grape is garganega.

2011 Domaine Sylvain Langoureau St-Aubin 1er Cru "Bas de Vermarain à l'Est"

Crisp and stylish. Lovely flowery fruit. Plenty of depth, energy and concentration underneath and a very long finish. Love St-Aubin, white Burgundies at affordable prices!

2011 Brooks Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

This Sonoma Pinot Noir shows spicy, velvety fruit upfront which is followed by a long, smooth finish. The wine is fresh and lively. A perfect red for a chilly day!
