2012 Walter Hansel "The Meadows" Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Review Date: 2-24-2015
A relative newcomer to the roster of Walter Hansel wines, The Meadows is one heck of a wine. Citrus and stone fruit built with malolactic fermentation and lees stirring. A little cedar wraps the wine nicely with a touch of vanilla and zippy acidity. Russian River Valley Chardonnay at its very best.

2012 Walter Hansel "North Slope" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Review Date: 2-24-2015
Walter Hansel wines have had a huge following at K&L as long as I can remember. The consistent quality year after year makes it one of those wines you can always feel comfortable buying. The 2012 North Slope is no exception. A complex Pinot Noir with a blend of red and blue fruit infused with sassafras, smoked meat and cinnamon. Just a touch of cedar and a perfect balance of acid makes this an enjoyable wine that will last for another 5 years but perfect to drink right away.

2013 Kistler "Sonoma Mountain" Chardonnay
Review Date: 2-24-2015
Kistler has been a legendary producer of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay since 1979. Sourcing fruit from some of California's top vineyards like Hudson, McCrea and Hyde among others, the quality of the fruit is second to none. With very limited production and high demand, Kistler is one of the most difficult wines to acquire. The 2013 Sonoma Mountain bottling is a great opportunity to taste an example of this brilliant producer and what to expect from the 2013 vintage. A blend of several different vineyards, this wine shows great depth, richness with just enough acidity to balance it out. A very enjoyable wine indeed.

2012 Lyeth Sonoma County Meritage
Review Date: 2-24-2015
Year after year, this Cabernet based wine beats most wines in this price category in quality. Vibrant black and blue fruit wrapped by soft tannin, spice and just touches of Mocha and cedar. Lyeth was founded over 25 years ago and now is part of the BOISSET FAMILY ESTATES.

One of our most popular, low priced Pinot Noir. Dark fruit, cherry cola and a touch of vanilla. Simple, straightforward and easy to drink.

2012 Alban "Patrina" Central Coast Syrah
Review Date: 2-19-2015
The King of California Syrah? Many people think so. Alban Vineyards is one of the finest Central Coast Syrah producers. This is not a wine for the faint of heart. Powerful but textured with layers of flavors that show the nuance of what the Syrah grape can give you. Drink within 5-7 years.

2012 Plumpjack "Estate" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 2-17-2015
Rich and concentrated with intense black and blue fruits surrounded by layers of cedar, vanilla, chocolate and a touch of raspberry. This is a great effort from one of Oakville's finest. I would drink young but it will hold for 4-6 years.

2010 Zaca Mesa Santa Ynez Valley Syrah
Review Date: 2-17-2015
A lush blueberry pie combined with hints of smoked meat, cinnamon, vanilla and cedar. There is a lot of wine here for the price and like the Andrew Murray Syrah we e-mailed a month or so ago, not to be missed.

2012 Joseph Jewell Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Review Date: 2-16-2015
I first brought in the Joseph Jewell wines back in the 2009 vintage. I always thought the wine was well made and our customers have always enjoyed them. The 2012 Russian River has reached new heights for the winery. A very feminine style of Russian River Pinot Noir with lovely cherry fruit, baking spice and just a hint of vanilla and cedar. Earthy notes show nicely throughout the mouth and the generous acidity weaves well through the lovely ripe fruit. Adrian and Micah have added another notch on their belt with this one.

2012 Textbook Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 2-16-2015
The Textbook wines are made by Jonathan and Susan Pey, owners of several wine labels such as Pey Marin, Forager and Spicerack. Textbook wines focus on the Napa Valley with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay on offer. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is made up of St. Helena, Oak Knoll and Oakville fruit. The wine spent 16 months in barrel, a small percentage in new wood. The wines consistently over-perform for the price point and have generated a great following at K&L.

2012 Von Strasser "Rudy" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 2-16-2015
How does a winery make a wine of such beauty and balance for only $ 19.99? Rudy Von Strasser can. A nice balance of Diamond Mountain structure and acidity with valley floor ripeness just kissed with a touch of wood.
