1978 Taittinger Collection "Vasarely" Brut Champagne

SKU #998983

This is the debut vintage of Taittinger's Collection series, originally released in 1983. The goal of this collection is to unite Champagne and art by commissioning artists to design special edition bottles. This stunning bottle's design comes from optical artist Victor Vaserely, as the wine's name indicates. Making this cuvée all the more rare, the 1978 harvest was one of the smallest in the history of Champagne since the pre-war period (78 million bottles). This highly-collectible Champagne was produced from 40% Chardonnay grapes from the best vineyards in the Côte de Blancs and 60% Pinot Noir harvested from the best vineyards on the Montagne de Reims.
