1990 Arrowood Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
Sturdy, tannic, complex and youthful, a big, extracted style with earthy currant, mineral, coffee, leather, sage and tea, firming up on the finish. Very impressive and stylish.--California Cabernet retrospective.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Made from a blend similar to that used for the 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon, the 1990 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals spicy, cedary, cassis-scented aromas, medium-bodied flavors possessing layers of richness, adequate acidity, and a spicy, round, generous finish with noticeable soft tannin. Arrowood's emphasis on combining high quality fruit with an elegant style and excellent flavor depth is well-displayed in this offering. All the Arrowood red wines from the 1990 vintage forward display a more natural texture and have largely been bottled unfined and unfiltered where possible. This departure in philosophy for Arrowood has resulted in wines with more complex aromatic profiles and wonderfully rich, full-flavored personalities. (RP)
