1995 Freemark Abbey "Bosché" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Healthy dark red to the rim. Sexy, complex nose combines plum, currant, spices, oak char, coffee and sweet butter. Sweet, energetic and clearly delineated, with its dark cherry, spice and licorice flavors lifted by a floral topnote. Still a bit tight, but I doubt this will loosen up further. Finishes with excellent length. This very fresh, juicy midweight wine displays saline soil complexity and noteworthy finishing lift. (ST)
Quite chewy and tannic, even drying, with glimpses of currant, cedar, mineral and herbs, but the flavors begin to emerge with more complexity on the finish, revealing hints of cherry and plum, so it's best to decant.--1995 California Cabernet retrospective. (Web-2005)
From the winery: "Intense ruby color with an appealing nose of cherries, strawberries and ripe plums. Smooth taste of cherries, bittersweet chocolate and vanilla oak, with subtle coffee and clove flavors. Two years of bottle age creates a wine to enjoy today or in the future."
