2015 Zind Humbrecht "Zind" White Blend Alsace

SKU #1356152 91 points James Suckling

Very flinty nose, medium-full body with fresh nuts and lemon peel character. An interesting touch of tannin, some real minerality and a lively acidity at the long finish. Made from biodynamically grown grapes. (6/2017)

Pale bright straw. Very perfumed, vibrant Zind, offering lovely aromas and flavors of white flowers, stone fruit and fresh citrus. Long and precise, featuring a mouthwatering saline nuance to the flavors, not to mention a very smooth texture. Closes bright and long with lemony acidity typical of calcaire soils. About two-thirds Chardonnay and one-third Auxerrois; both varieties were planted in 1989 in two separate plots in the coolest section of the Clos Windsbuhl, where other grapes aren’t likely to ripen well. It was Vincent Leflaive (father of Anne-Claude) who, upon seeing the limestone soils of the Windsbuhl, suggested that the terroir was ideal for Chardonnay. Best Zind in years. (4/2018)

89-90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2015 Zind blends two-thirdsf Chardonany with one-third Auxerroirs, and shows a super ripe fruit and elegant nose. Full-bodied, fresh and piquant, with a stunning grip and refreshing vitality, this is an enormous wine. It is juicy, almost lush, very ripe and fruity, but also refreshing and well-structured. There is a grippy, pure and salty finish, with 12.8% alcohol. Tasted as a cask sample in early February, a few days before the bottling.(SR) (2/2017)

90 points Wine Enthusiast

Lemon and earth aromas on the nose lead onto a dry and gently pear-fruited palate. There is an element of softness, a creamy touch radiating from a ripe, concentrated core of subdued Mirabelle and pear fruit. The finish is rich, resonant and dry. (4/2018)

90 points Wine Spectator

A racy, mineral-driven white, with lots of pink grapefruit zest and white pepper notes accenting the nectarine and star fruit flavors. A lip-smacking quaff for a hot summer day. Chardonnay and Auxerrois. Drink now through 2020. (11/2017)
