2006 Ruinart "Dom Ruinart" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (ships as 1.5L)

SKU #1326856 97 points Vinous

The 2006 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Brut is simply fabulous. In most vintages, Dom Ruinart is a big, ample Champagne that shows the structure of the Montagne de Reims Chardonnay in the blend. The 2006 has plenty of textural resonance and richness, and yet I am also struck by its tension. Both bottles I tasted point to a Dom Ruinart that is quite a bit more polished and sophisticated than it often is at this stage. 97+ (AG) (12/2017)

97 points Wine Spectator

A statuesque Champagne, firm and finely knit, with a beautiful array of baked white peach, almond biscotti, pastry cream and crystallized honey flavors riding the silky mousse. A rich and smoky note of toasted brioche echoes on the chiseled finish. Drink now through 2031. (AN) (11/2017)

I had the great fortune to try this excellent Blanc de Blanc two nights ago. It has a beautiful stone fruit nose with subtle citrus and spice notes. On the palate, nectarine, lemon curd, cream and peach. The great surprise for this particular bottling is the bright acidity on the finish. Many other 2006 Blanc de Blanc that I have tried tend towards golden fruits and caramel. This very elegant edition of Dom Ruinart lovely and balanced. I daresay it is even a bargain!

Country:

France

- When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them.
Sub-Region:

Champagne

- The French region of Champagne (comprised of the towns of Rheims, Epernay, and Ay) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and winemaking traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range from the basic brut (often blends of several vintages), single vintage champagnes, and rose.
