2016 La Pointe, Pomerol (Pre-Arrival)

SKU #1299240 93-94 points James Suckling

Rich and layered La Pointe. Full body, round and juicy tannins and a flavorful finish. Polished texture. Pretty and impressive. (4/2017)

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2016 La Pointe is a blend of 83% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Franc this year. It has a charming, perfumed bouquet with dark cherries, red plum and quite intense incense aromas that are well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and well-judged acidity. This is a well-focused, classically styled Pomerol with seams of tobacco towards the persistent finish. This is a very fine Pomerol from Eric Monnoret, in fact, it is the best La Pointe produced so far. (NM) (4/2017)

92 points Decanter

A very silky, sexy take on the vintage, really demonstrating how they are subtly building delivery of power in La Pointe. The tannins are well defined and pliable, a good support for the black fruits while maintaining the welcoming house style. I really like this wine. The power is subtle but unmistakable and it is clearly going to age well. Hubert de Bouard consults. (JA) (4/2017)

89-92 points Wine Spectator

Lively, offering raspberry and boysenberry fruit infused with anise, carried by velvety structure and backed by bright acidity. A light apple wood spine keeps this honest. (JM) (4/2017)
