1902 Cossart Verdelho Madeira

SKU #1283649

Madeira wines are famed for being the longest-lived wines in the world. The island they’re grown on is just south of Portugal, with mild temperatures and ocean breezes. It’s very mountainous, and the fertile volcanic soils contribute high acidity to the grapes that acts as a natural preservative. Madeira is known for several “noble” varietals: Sercial, Verdelho, Boal, Malvasia (also known as Malmsey), and Terrantez. Each of these has its own distinct type of wine, prized for varying levels of sweetness. All of these are white. Verdelho grapes make one of the drier styles of Madeira.
