2003 La Conseillante, Pomerol (1.5L)
This is round, soft, and fruity. An attractive plum and berry character make this wine easy and friendly right now. It still has nice freshness and subtlety, with some floral undertones.
Very pretty aromas of crushed berry, sandalwood and raspberry jam. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins. Balanced and refined. Well done. (JS)
Deep garnet. Cedar and rich blackcurrant. Inviting intensity. A bit more cedary on the palate. Rich, sweet fruit in the mid palate and resolved tannins. Just enough freshness. (JH)

La Conseillante’s 2003 is better than expected given the sandy, gravelly soils of this sector of Pomerol, which did not fare well in this vintage. Sweet raspberry fruit intermixed with licorice, incense and a touch of herbs are followed by a medium-bodied, fully mature, ripe wine to enjoy over the next 3-4 years. (RP)

Good fresh dark red. Explosive aromas of sweet cherry, coffee and toasty oak. Sweet, fat, broad and easygoing but with good tension for the vintage. Can't match the 2004 or 2005 for complexity and freshness of flavor, but this boasts a suave texture. Finishes with dusty tannins and some vanillin oak. (ST)
