2014 Dehlinger "Estate" Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Dehlinger's 2014 Chardonnay Estate is a classic expression of Wente clone Chardonnay from Goldridge soils. Apricot pit, peach, white flowers and a hint of French oak all flesh out in the glass. Oily, waxy and deeply textured, the 2014 offers striking depth and nuance throughout. (AG)
A graceful, elegant style that impresses with nuance and finesse, offering subtle smoky, toasty oak and leesy, yeasty notes that add dimension to the fig and apricot flavors. Drink now. 1,100 cases made.
Robert Parker writes: "This is another Russian River pioneer winery. Tom Dehlinger has slowly inched into quasi-retirement, with his two daughters taking over the reins. However, it is important to remember that their first vintage was 1975, and they have a tremendously consistent track record for high-quality Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and more recently, Syrah. They even turn a trick or two with an impressive Cabernet Sauvignon, which is probably the most unexpected star from this Russian River property. One of the big surprises about the Dehlinger wines is how well they age. I’ve had good luck with their Pinot Noirs up to 20 years, depending on the vintage."
