 Here the almost equally cool if slightly riper nose combines notes of white flowers, lavender, pear, apple and soft hazelnut wisps. There is excellent richness to the refined and somewhat bigger-bodied flavors that retain a lovely sense of detail and punch before culminating in a lightly mineral-inflected finish that delivers outstanding depth and length. While the Bouchères seems ever-so-slightly more complete today this may very well catch it in time. In sum one couldn't go wrong owning either wine!  (6/2016)

 The 2014 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes has an intense nose of fresh grapefruit, lime flower and a hint of frangipane; it is more rounded than the Bouchères, if not quite possessing the same charm. The palate is crisp on the entry, very saline and tensile with a precise, penetrating finish. This will have much more to give post bottling. Then it will switch on the charm. (NM)  (10/2015)

Round and voluminous without coming off as weighty, displaying superb inner-mouth energy to its citrus and saline mineral flavors. - The town of Meursault is a prosperous village, with a Gothic town hall and narrow winding streets. It produces a small amount of red wine, but is justly famous for its whites. Although it has no Grand Cru vineyards, its Premiers Crus are justly famous, particularly Charmes, Poruzots, Perrières and Genevrières. A good Meursault has concentration, grip and backbone, in addition to its soft and rich fruit.
