2013 La Chablisienne Chablis "Bougros" Grand Cru

 Given how consistently (and I hate to use this word, "ordinary") La Chablisienne's 2013s performed, the 2013 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros came out like a bolt from the blue. It has a much more floral bouquet than its peers - yellow flowers and even vanilla pod mixed with citrus fruit and light granitic scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity, crisp and poised with superb mineralité and tension toward the utterly harmonious finish. This is a gorgeous, sophisticated Bougros '13 to enjoy over the next 15 to 20 years. Chapeau. (NM)  (8/2015)

 Noticeable but not intrusive wood frames the moderately exotic fruit aromas that are laced with just enough Chablis character to be persuasive. There is fine richness and volume to the broad-shouldered flavors that possess a robust if not really rustic mouth feel, all wrapped in a balanced, complex and lingering finish. This should reward a few years of cellar time but it wouldn't be crime to pop bottles young if desired.  (10/2015)
