2015 Arnot-Roberts North Coast Trousseau

SKU #1276494 91 points Vinous

The 2015 Trousseau (North Coast) is delicate, aromatic and nicely lifted in the glass. Savory herbs, dried flowers, dried cherries and orange peel are some of the signatures. Drink this attractive, mid-weight red over the next few years. The 2015 is ethereal, gracious and also a touch eccentric. In 2015, most of the fruit was from Luchsinger, Arnot-Roberts' original Trousseau source, as there was no yield from the Bohan Ranch. Because of that, the 2015 is a bit light in color. K&L Notes

Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Roberts were named "Winemakers of the Year" in 2012 by the San Francisco Chronicle, and the duo has been going from success to success vintage after vintage. Antonio Galloni, writing for the Wine Advocate, called Arnot-Roberts "one of the most exciting young wineries in California, or anywhere for that matter." The grapes for this wine are sources from the Luchsinger Vineyard. Notes on the vineyard from the winery: "Bernie Luchsinger planted his vineyard in 1999 in volcanic cobble over ancient riverbed stones at 1,400’ in the Clear Lake AVA west of Kelseyville, California. We currently source our Trousseau and Touriga Nacional from this site. These varieties thrive in the warm days and cool nights under the watchful eye of the Luchsinger family."

- When people consider domestic wine, they normally think about the state of California. The fine viticultural Region within California, including the Napa Valley, Sonoma, Santa Cruz Mountains, Mendocino and Santa Barbara, are capable of growing grapes of world-class quality. But there's plenty of fabulous wine coming from other states, too. Oregon, Washington and New York are also causing eyebrows (and glassware) to be raised around the world. - With the explosive growth that California's wine industry has seen the past several years, it's easy to view winemaking and grape growing in the Golden State as a recent phenomenon. And while it's true that California's viticultural history is brief compared to several European countries, this state's roots date back well over 200 years. Due to the enormous response to California wine within the United States and worldwide, there are thousands of excellent and diverse wines being produced within the state each year.
