2015 Arnot-Roberts North Coast Trousseau
The 2015 Trousseau (North Coast) is delicate, aromatic and nicely lifted in the glass. Savory herbs, dried flowers, dried cherries and orange peel are some of the signatures. Drink this attractive, mid-weight red over the next few years. The 2015 is ethereal, gracious and also a touch eccentric. In 2015, most of the fruit was from Luchsinger, Arnot-Roberts' original Trousseau source, as there was no yield from the Bohan Ranch. Because of that, the 2015 is a bit light in color. (AG)
Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Roberts were named "Winemakers of the Year" in 2012 by the San Francisco Chronicle, and the duo has been going from success to success vintage after vintage. Antonio Galloni, writing for the Wine Advocate, called Arnot-Roberts "one of the most exciting young wineries in California, or anywhere for that matter." The grapes for this wine are sources from the Luchsinger Vineyard. Notes on the vineyard from the winery: "Bernie Luchsinger planted his vineyard in 1999 in volcanic cobble over ancient riverbed stones at 1,400’ in the Clear Lake AVA west of Kelseyville, California. We currently source our Trousseau and Touriga Nacional from this site. These varieties thrive in the warm days and cool nights under the watchful eye of the Luchsinger family."
