 The 2014 Meursault les Meix Chavaux is more backward and introspective on the nose with limestone and flint here -- pretensions towards Puligny, perhaps? The palate contains a lot of energy, and is a little more malic than the Les Virieuls, but very dense and persistent towards the finish. There is something a little aristocratic about this Meursault and that makes it very appealing. (NM)  (12/2015)

 Firm reduction renders the nose completely unreadable. There is an appealing sense of energy to the utterly delicious medium weight flavors that possess a subtle minerality before terminating in a linear and lingering finish that is notably dry but not really austere.  Pale yellow. White peach and a hint of hazelnut on the nose. Dense, sappy and energetic, offering lovely texture and concentration to its citrus and saline flavors. Finishes with firm lemony grip but no hard edges. The crop level here was just 30 hectoliters per hectare and it shows.  (9/2016)

- The town of Meursault is a prosperous village, with a Gothic town hall and narrow winding streets. It produces a small amount of red wine, but is justly famous for its whites. Although it has no Grand Cru vineyards, its Premiers Crus are justly famous, particularly Charmes, Poruzots, Perrières and Genevrières. A good Meursault has concentration, grip and backbone, in addition to its soft and rich fruit.
