2005 Laura Zahtila "Georges III Vineyard" Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine & Spirits
A supple Rutherford Cabernet with a distinctive herbal edge, this wine centers on a sleek core of fresh cherry, both in the skin tannin and the juice. It finishes with a soft, generous feel, ready for roast lamb.
*One Star* If we are ever reincarnated as a winery owner, we want to be able to come back with vineyard sites that have great history and sit immediately next to Caymus smack in the middle of the Rutherford area. The classic cassis-like aromas announce its provenance, and the rich and fruity extension in both nose and mouth grabs our interest because, once again, Laura Zahtila has produced a very fine wine from this property. It is appropriately supple and structured, and its medium-depth character runs from front to back seamlessly.
Tight and firm, with dried herb, cedar, dried currant and mineral-pebble notes that gain complexity and depth, while maintaining a tight structure. (JL, Web-2008)
