2014 Robert Biale "Monte Rosso" Sonoma Valley Zinfandel
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
From one of the most iconic vineyard sites in all of Northern California, the 2014 Zinfandel Monte Rosso Vineyard kicks up the level of concentration. It finishes at 15% natural alcohol but has tremendous inner depth and richness. The color is a handsome, dense bluish purple. The wine officers a spectrum of blue and purple fruits along with earth. It is full-bodied, super-concentrated, with adequate acidity and nicely integrated, ripe tannins. This is a beauty to drink over the next 10-15 years. One of the top Zinfandel specialists in Northern California, Robert Biale’s 2014 Zinfandels are all relatively large-scaled wines, ranging from the mid- to upper-14% alcohol levels to mid-15s. (RP)
From the rocky, volcanic soils of the mighty, high-elevation vineyard, this wine imparts generous layers of blood-red berry, smoke, vanilla and cranberry, a testament to terroir and unobtrusive winemaking. Powerfully built in tight, leathery structure, it conveys a distinct taste of that volcanic rock.
