A Zinfandel that I have always loved from Turley is their Zinfandel from the Dogtown Vineyard. The 2014 Zinfandel Dogtown Vineyard, from the up-and-coming Lodi AVA, tips the scales at 15.4 % alcohol. It is a sexy, lush, full-bodied Zinfandel, oozing with fruit and character. The wine has underlying loamy soil notes and spice box, as well as copious quantities of raspberry, black cherry and briary, mountain red fruits. It is spicy and full-bodied, with an opulent, plush and layered texture. This is irresistible. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. This vineyard was planted in volcanic and clay soils in 1944. All told there are seven Zinfandels from Napa Valley, ranging from Atlas Peak in the south, to Howell Mountain in mid-valley, to the estate vineyard just north of St. Helena. As one might expect, all of these are remarkable Zinfandels. (RP)

Vinous
A wine of multiple dimensions, the 2014 Zinfandel Dogtown Vineyard is wonderfully complex and nuanced, with considerable detail. The most complete and subtle of Turley's Lodi Zinfandels, the Dogtown has it all, but I would prefer to drink the 2014 on the young side, while the fruit retains its pliancy. Sweet floral and spiced notes add the last shades of nuance on the hugely inviting finish. In 2014 yields were just a half ton per acre. (AG)
