2012 Cantine di Ora "Amicone" Rosso Veneto (Elsewhere $20)

SKU #1268180

Amicone is made from predominantly Corvina grapes (same grapes that go into Amarone) but are dried for a shorter period and on the vine not on mats like Amarone. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and then aged in French oak tonneaux for 8 months. The result is an easy drinking full-bodied red that has lots of rich soft, smooth texture.

Dark red blue in color, this supple wine is full bodied but not overly complex or heavy. Dark cherries and figs, with a trace of chocolate, hit your nose then sweet spices and chocolate greet your palate with a long finish. This wine will go well with grilled and barbecued meats or simply on its own. Drink this now and over the next few years, no need to cellar this one.

Rich and full-bodied but very balanced and elegant wine full of black cherry and dark spice with chocolate notes. Very smooth with well integrated tannins. Excellent wine for every day!

The nose of this wine is full of warm, wafting chocolaty Corvina... that’s the main grape in Amarone. These aromatics fill you with the sensation of something full and dense and it is rich. On the palate, the wine flows across your tongue with a velvety texture, but is highlighted by enough acidity to keep it from getting fat. While still being full bodied, the wild cherry flavors just bowls you over. The finish is full of those complex chocolaty cherry flavors and continues on for seconds. This is a perfect wine just for drinking with a bit of cheese or with some spicy BBQ!

"Amicone" is made from 100% Corvina, the primary grape of Valpolicella and Amarone. This value priced powerhouse is bursting with fragrant aromas of violets, spiced plums and blueberries and a rich mouthful of lush dark plum fruit and moderate acidity. Although it's quite good on its own, it's a terrific table red that will accompany a wide variety of foods.

This gentle and delicate Amicone is delicious. The well-balanced wine has beautiful fruit flavors of figs and plums with gentle earth and spice notes from the time in French oak. The wine is rich and pure. It is full bodied but not heavy on the palate. A delightful wine at $12.99 that can be enjoyed any day of the week!
