2015 Tormaresca "Calafuria" Salento Rosato

SKU #1266931 Vinous

Bright pink. Aromas of black cherry, blueberry, licorice and dried flowers. Sweet and rather soft on entry, then nicely stuffed with energetic, perfumed fruit in the middle. (IDA) (3/2016)

K&L Notes

From 100% Negroamaro, a late-ripening red grape variety (whose name translates to "dark bitter") that produces some exciting and distinct rosé wines from the Puglia region. Tormaresca sourced the hand-harvested grapes from the Maime estate in San Pietro Vernotico. The grapes were softly pressed and fermented at a low, controlled temperature before settling for several months in stainless steel. Fragrances of pink grapefruit, peach, and flowers introduce a palate which adds savory tones to this profile with balancing acidity and persistence.

Searching for a super fun, delightful Italian rose with a hint of fizz? Look no further! Strawberry, pink bubblegum and citrus with a slight sweetness and yet great balance that makes me want to immediately take off my shoes, sit on the porch, and enjoy la dolce far niente- the sweetness of doing nothing!

Antinori has been on a roll lately with the release of some terrific wines. They appear to have stepped up their game as we've been continually impressed with the increased level of quality of their wines across the board. Considering the overwhelming success of the "Neprica," we aren't surprised with how good this Rose is and we're pleased to offer it as part of our summer rosé campaign. It combines delicious red fruit and crisp acidity with a medium-bodied palate and it's a wonderful alternative to the always great French rosés on our sales floor.

Most of our customers know Tormaresca label for their GREAT inexpensive red and now we introduce you to their Rose’. Yea!!! It’s 100% Negroamaro, a light salmon pink color, fascinating aromas of wild mountain strawberries, some herbal notes and lots of great acidity and with a touch of mineral on the long-lasting aftertaste. Buy a few—the bottle empties quickly. This is a great wine for the brunch crowd or just sipping some while sitting on the porch with a favorite book.
