An excellent Pinot Noir that offers both flavor and value. There are bright red fruit flavors that are enhanced with structure and a nice dry finish. I like the wines from Domaine Bart and this Bourgogne Rouge does not let one down. This will go well with pork or chicken.

When it comes to affordable red Burgundy, Domaine Bart really is one of our best. With a vibrant dried cherry nose and a hint of spice and oak , this is a solid middle weight with ample structure and cranberry flavors layered with baking spices. This would make the perfect companion to a stinky cheese or savory poultry dish. Recommended!

What a great Burgundy value! I have been waiting (rather impatiently) for the Bart to arrive since visiting Martin and Pierre last October in Marsannay. When it arrived last week I bought one of everything we received. Cinnamon and I enjoyed this with a simple steak sandwich with leftover ratatouille on Wednesday night, and it was spectacular. It has great crunchy fruit, bracing acidity and a purity and minerality that only Burgundy can deliver. If you love serious, dry Pinot Noir, this is a must try!

It's rare to find a great, drinkable Burgundy for an affordable price, so take advantage of Domaine Bart's Bourgogne Rouge and grab a few bottles, or even cases, to keep around the house. The Bourgogne Rouge shows bright, crunchy red fruit like cranberry and red cherry and a hint of forest floor and graphite. While it has lots of great acidity, the palate also provides soft, round tannins, creating great balance.

Oh... BART! Such a clever, unique, and memorable character. And such a wordsmith. "COWABUNGA!" "DON'T HAVE A COW, DUDE". Both of these phrases jumped to the forefront of my mind upon tasting this entry level wine from, guess who... Domaine BART! As the medium bodied wine entered my mouth, I literally did HAVE A COW. I enthusiastically shouted COWABUNGA! Was I reacting to the complex layers of blackberry, plum, and lilac? Or was it the incredibly soft tannins and cedar notes? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pinot Noir

- One of France's most legendary grapes and the grape that earned Burgundy its reputation. The parent of varietals like Pinot Gris/Grigio and Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir is blue to violet to indigo in color with relatively thin skins, and it is said to have been cultivated in France for more than 2,000 years. At its best, Pinot Noir creates elegant wines that are filled with primary red fruit aromas and flavors while young, revealing with an array of secondary characteristics like earth, smoke, violet, truffle and game with age. The varietal is also known, perhaps better than any, for its ability to translate terroir, or a sense of place. While the best Pinot Noir still comes from Burgundy, it is being produced with increasing success in cooler climates around the world. In France, it is part of the trifecta of grapes that can go into Champagne, and it is also grown in Alsace, Irancy, Jura, Savoie, Lorraine and Sancerre. Outside of France it is produced under the names Pinot Nero and Blauburgunder in Italy's mountainous regions, as Spätburgunder in Germany and as Blauburgunder in Austria. In the US, Pinot Noir has found suitable growing conditions in the cooler parts of California, including Carneros, the Russian River Valley, the Anderson Valley, the Sonoma Coast, Monterey County, the Santa Lucia Highlands and Santa Barbara County, as well as in Oregon's Willamette Valley. In recent years, New Zealand has demonstrated its ability to interpret this hard-to-grow varietal, with successful bottlings coming from careful and attentive growers in Central Otago, Martinborough and Canterbury. Chile is also an up-and-coming region for Pinot Noir, creating fresh, fruit-forward, early-drinking and affordable Pinots from the coastal Casablanca Valley and the Limari Valley.

- The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay.
