2015 Bisson "U Pastine" Bianchetta Genovese Golfo del Tigullio

SKU #1265340

"U Pastine" in the Ligurian dialect means, essentially, a gift that is specially crafted for someone in particular as an extra special present. Bianchetta Genovese is a very rare grape grown in the area south of Genoa. It is usually just part of a field blend with other grapes (if you've even been fortunate enough to visit Cinque Terre and enjoy a crispy glass of white wine, this grape was probably in it), but Bisson was the first to vinify it as it's own varietal. This wine is super snappy, with citrus, sea spray, wet stone and an wild coastal scrub nose. Great acidity, with a taut but generous mouthfeel and a mesmerizing clean finish. It would be hard to find a better seafood or salad wine (or seafood salad wine!). If you like Vermentino, Verdicchio, Muscadet or Vinho Verde, you'll love this wine.

Pierluigi Lugano has toiled for decades to cultivate the native grapes of Liguria as well as preserve the winegrowing traditions of the region. In addition to producing outstanding Vermentino and Pigato, he is leading the way to prove the viability of the lesser know Bianchetta Genovese, grown only in Liguria. This intriguing white wine highlights subtle citrus and vibrant minerality and contrasts itself from the better known wines of the zones. This is a perennial favorite that is especially good with lighter seafood and vegetable dishes.
