2013 Domaine de la Réserve d'O "La Réserve d'O" Terrasses du Larzac (1.5L)

SKU #1265339 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Lastly, the 2013 Terrasses du Larzac La Reserve d’O offers lots of exotic pepper, wild herbs, toasted spice and darker, plummy fruits in a medium-bodied, elegant, streamlined style. Made from 45% Syrah, 45% Grenache and 10% Cinsault, aged all in tank, this classic Terrasses du Larzac shows the cooler, fresher style of the vintage nicely and will drink well through 2023. I found all three of these 2013s from Domaine de la Reserve d’O to show the fresher, more austere nature of the vintage. They all benefited from air (I tasted these bottles over two days) and should have a decade or so of longevity. (JD) (4/2016)

Wine Spectator

This concentrated, full-bodied red layers notes of cherry tart, fig, and black olive, edged with paprika and mocha flavors. Grippy tannins and firm, integrated acidity show solid structure to back up the minerally finish. Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault. Drink now through 2020. (GS, Web-2016)

K&L Notes

We met Marie Chauffray at the Vinifilles tasting in January of 2015 in Montpellier. The Vinifilles (which means "wine girls") is an association of women producers who own and operate their own estates. From growing to winemaking to marketing, they are involved in every aspect of their wineries' success. I was invited by our friend Francoise Antech-Gazeau (our sparkling wine producer from the Limoux) to visit and taste her wines and meet some of her other grower-producer friends. Chauffray's was one of the most impressive wines we tasted at the event, and we immediately struck up a relationship. Marie owned a wine shop but always wanted to pursue growing, so she and her husband Frederic began looking for a vineyard. It took 10 years to find the perfect plot. The vineyard, which is planted on limestone gravel, is on a unique site 400 meters above sea level in the Terrasses du Larzac sub-region of Languedoc. The farming is certified both Ecocert Organic and Demeter Biodynamic. Representing the best qualities of the estate the "Reserve d'O" is a blend of 45% Grenache, 45% Syrah with 10% Cinsault. Some of the most unique wines you will taste all year. (Keith Mabry, K&L French Regional Buyer)
