SKU #1265337

Situated in to the east of the walled city of Carcassonne and in the shadow of the Montagne Noire (Black Mountains) lies Minervois. The village of Laure-Minervois is home to the winery Chateau Saint Jacques d'Albas a 90 hectare estate in the hills above the village. Some 26 hectares of the estate are planted to vines with the rest composed of forests and creeks acting as a natural barrier to their neighbors. At the winery, a small team led by owner Graham Nutter, craft superb reds, whites and rosés, all of which are farmed organically. The "Domaine Rosé" is a blend of 98% direct press Grenache and 2% Roussanne. It is fresh, lively and oh, so inviting.

"We let nature make our wines." —Graham Nutter, proprietor of Chateau Saint Jacques d'Albas. Van Gogh would have probably painted this charming fellow, for anyone who plants an entire field of sunflowers just to feed the migrating birds must be just as caring about his vines and the quality of his wines. He and his wife purchased this historic property in the Minervois in 2001, and have spared little expense in bringing it up to world-class organic standards, developing minimalist, low-yield protocols to enhance both the soil chemistry and the lustrous fruit that eventually ends up in your bottle. Although there are a slew of rosés to choose from in our stores, this mouthwatering Minervois stood out for its delicious balance of zingy red fruits, gentle spice and enticing acidity. A delightfully fragrant aperitif that will pair well with a plateful of fried calamari or light summer salads.

Bright, fresh, crisp, and nicely focused. I like this style with it's hint of acid, and nice dried pear on the palate. This is as easy-going as it gets and it won't break the bank to buy a case! Enjoy all summer, and courtesy of climate change, most of fall too!

Our best rosé under $15! The Chateau Saint Jacques D'Albas has that gorgeous, haunting strawberry fruit that only the south of France can deliver, and the refreshing zip to balance it out. Be warned: this stuff goes down far to easily, and while it is not high in alcohol, it can get you into trouble if you don't watch out!
