2015 Domaine de Bila Haut "Les Vignes de Bila Haut" Pays d'Oc Rosé

SKU #1264536 Vinous

Pale orange. Aromas of fresh red berries, orange and lavender are lifted by a suggestion of chalky minerals. Juicy and tightly focused, offering strawberry, blood orange and succulent herb flavors that deepen on the back half. Finishes dry and nervy, showing good focus and lingering citrus and red fruit qualities. (JR) (6/2016)

K&L Notes

Praise for the producer from Wine Advocate: "I continue to be blown away by the quality coming from Domaine de la Bila Haut, which is run with the Chapoutier team. They’ve continued to grow these Roussillon releases, and even at the entry-level price point, the quality is stunning... In short, these are fabulous wines that show classic characters (most are aged all in concrete) and represent incredible values. Don’t miss them." (JD, 04/2016)

The Bila Haut rose is that everyday classic porch pounder of a wine you crave when you get home from work. Pristine clarity of fruit with notes of strawberry and lemon zest. A finish that that has that hint of wet stones. Bright acidity but soft enough on the palate it goes down without a care in the world. For under $10, how can you go wrong?

At the moment, this wine from team Chapoutier is the best value rosé in the store! Created from Grenache and Syrah grown in the Roussillon region, it displays focus and depth generally not available at such a low price. Crisp, bright flavors of strawberries and white cherries saturate the palate, and give way to a dry, super clean finish with a lingering hint of spice from the Syrah. Considering the quality, price and limited availability, it’d be a good idea to order a few bottles while you can!
