2014 E. Guigal Condrieu (Pre-Arrival)
A really classical expression of Condrieu with fragrant, musky white flowers and apricots and gentle spices. It smells soft, and the palate has impressive weight and core strength in what is essentially a deeply flavored yet elegant white. The palate's chiseled and shows great balance and depth. Drinking well now through to 2020.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Philippe and Marcel continue to pull back on the amount of oak used for their Condrieu, and the wines show more and more freshness and purity, without sacrificing texture. The 2014 Condrieu has lots of minerality as well as classy citrus blossom, white peach and a kiss of apricot to go with a medium-bodied, pure, elegant feel on the palate. It has plenty of fruit, a big mid-palate and is a gorgeous Condrieu ... (JD)
Green-tinged yellow. complex scents of yellow peach, tangerine, mango and chamomile take on a dusty mineral flourish as the wine opens up. Supple and expansive on the palate, offering mineral-accented citrus and pit fruit flavors and hints of fennel and violet. Expresses a suave blend of richness and vivacity and finishes minerally and very long, leaving behind poached pear and lemon curd notes. (JR)
