2014 Amelia Park Cabernet-Merlot Margaret River Western Australia
Matured in French oak for 12 months. The two varieties are locked in combat on the way (part due to oak) and you have to wait for the blackcurrant and redcurrant promised by the bouquet to resonate, mulberry adding its weight.
Spiced, lush blackcurrant aromas are deftly layered with intoxicating tobacco leaf and elegant herbal notes. Generous and full on the palate, with beautifully sweet vanilla, heady mocha and dark, brooding fruit.
**Trophy for Best Cabernet Blend Quantas Wine Show**. **Gold Medal at Royal Melbourne Wine Show.** Here in the southwestern corner of Western Australia, the warm maritime climate and gravel and sandy loam soils make ideal conditions for the production of intense and structured wines from Bordeaux varietals. Winemaker's Notes: "Due to another classic and outstanding growing season this wine displays a fragrant nose of red and black currant fruit with raspberries, violets and hints of cedar and mint. The palate displays persistent berry flavours with fine tannin supporting a long elegant palate."
