2013 Ramey Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
The 2013 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast) is a gorgeous introduction to the vintage at Ramey. Lemon curd, white flowers, mint and lightly honeyed notes open up in an expressive, beautifully textured Chardonnay to drink now and over the next decade. Martinelli's Charles Ranch and Platt are the main fruit sources.
Although there is a nice sense of youthful energy and brightness at work here, this moderately deep, but comparatively closed-in working is still on the tight-fisted side with regard to outgoing fruit. It offers teasing glimpses of fresh apples, sweet lemons and blossoms yet never fully unfolds and impresses as a Chardonnay that very much wants another year or two in the bottle before being fully realized, and those willing to wait will be repaid by a considerably more expressive wine.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2013 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast offers crisp, caramelized citrus, wet stones and white peach in a medium-bodied, fleshy, but crisp, pure style. This should be drunk in its first several years of life. (RP)
Fresh and lively, with juicy acidity and tart, mouthwatering citrus, white peach, green nectarine and honeydew flavors. Fans of crisp flavors and clean, vibrant wines will enjoy this. Drink now. (JL)
